Learning to fly

Hi everyone, meet my Allotopus moellenkampi babai — a stunning golden stag beetle. When he first emerged as an adult, his wings were weak. He could barely lift off. Today, he’s a confident flyer zooming around the living room. Let’s watch his journey.
Here he is in the beginning — short, clumsy hops and quick drops. You can see him struggling to stay airborne and land before even taking off. His wings needed time to strengthen. Look at those tentative flaps… adorable but not quite there yet.
Fast forward a bit, and he’s making real progress. Longer flights now, from my hand to the floor, testing different directions. Notice how his control improves — steadier paths, fewer crash landings. This golden beauty is building strength every day.
Now he’s unstoppable! Watch him soar across the living room in every direction — left, right, up high, low passes. Circling the lamp, dodging obstacles, full laps around the room. Those powerful wings are fully ready. It’s incredible how far he’s come.
From barely able to fly to ruling the living room airspace — that’s my Allotopus moellenkampi babai. These beetles are amazing. Thanks for watching! Like and follow for more insect adventures.
