My first attempt at tie dye.

A few months ago I made this tie dye linen piece. We moved and it got folded up and forgotten. A few weeks ago I unpacked it and it glared at me from the work table for a day or two before I got to work. This is about an hour a day for 8 days. I'll be using it this summer.

Idk whom to ask but it’s regarding a 100k medical bill

A family friend recently had a major medical emergency and now has a 500k hospital bill without insurance. We’re already talking to the hospital financial assistance team and now it is down to 150k, but we’re trying to figure out who else we should reach out to in Jacksonville or Florida for help.

Are there nonprofits, patient advocates, legal aid groups, churches, government programs, or other organizations that help with situations like this? Any advice from people who’ve been through something similar would really help.

Thank you.

Moving in August to JAX

33M Hispanic currently living in Dallas and thinking about moving to Jacksonville to experience living in a coastal city. I already know the summers are hot and humid, but honestly Dallas heat isn’t much better.
I’m pretty much over the nightclub scene at this point, but I still enjoy going out to bars every now and then, meeting people, watching sports, and being social. Currently WFH.
I’m mainly looking for honest feedback from locals about:
How Jacksonville is viewed overall
Beach life and whether people actually use it regularly
Social life for singles in their 30s
Non-denominational churches and church communities
Outdoor activities (fishing, parks, boating, fitness, etc.)
The vibe/safety of the Baymeadows area since that’s where I’m considering living
Would appreciate the real pros and cons from people who actually live there or moved from bigger cities.

No one wanted the ironman event

It basically had the entire city in gridlock. It made a 29 minute drive home from work take 2 hours and 20 minutes. Who even decides the planning for this.

Even caused a crash on the fuller warren.

People where driving through the grass just to get out of the crap.

The police traffic control with 100 cars on each side only let one car go each time so we'd be in one intersection for 40 minutes.

Wildflowers on highways being mowed?

Does anybody know what's happened to the wildflower program? I've noticed on 295 and 95 in particular, All the wildflowers are just being mowed down.

I called the Florida Department of Transportation today ((904) 360-5400) And got transferred all over the place. Finally left a voicemail somewhere but I don't know if I'll get a call back.

Maybe others can call and inquire as well so the question can gain some steam?

Fun things to do during summer?

Hello ~

Due to work, I will be in Jacksonville, Florida, for 3 weeks in July/August. Can you recommend a few things, whether it's food, activities, sports or quiet spots to relax?

Is it easy to get around or should I rent a car instead?

I'm (f, 29yo) from Germany and I'm open to anything and enjoy trying new things. Thank you in advance! 😄

Commuting from Georgia

Hey, everyone! My spouse is relocating at the end of the month for a job is Jacksonville. We currently live in Georgia, but he’s looking at renting a place closer to the state line and commuting.

Has anyone else here made that commute? We’re looking for pros and cons.
