With 1,06,778 seats left for the final round and more than 1.02 lakh students expected to compete, Gandhi estimated that around 45,000 seats could remain vacant after counselling.

CHENNAI: Engineering colleges in Tamil Nadu are staring at a growing seat vacancy, with only 41.15% of seats filled after the second round of Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions (TNEA) 2026 counselling.

The figure is nearly five percentage points lower than the 46.34% recorded at the same stage last year. Only one more round of counselling remains.

Of the 1,81,436 seats available under general counselling, 74,658 have been filled so far, compared to 79,894 at the corresponding stage last year.

Career consultant Jayaprakash Gandhi estimated that around 45,000 seats could remain vacant even after the final round.

More than 93,000 students took part in the second round, including those from the first round who opted for fresh choice filling. Of the 49,984 students allotted seats in the second round, 614 had participated in the first round. The corresponding figure was 994 last year, according to TNEA data.

Notably, 25 students with cut-off scores above 190 who had participated in the first round also secured allotments in the second round. “This reflects that even high-scoring students are facing problems in filling appropriate choices online,” said Gandhi.

Data Visualisation and Data Science, Environmental Engineering, Generative AI and Machine Learning, Industrial Engineering and Management, Marine Engineering and Textile Chemistry have not received a single allotment after two rounds.

2. Is printing course light and easy to pass?

3. Can I roam freely in the campus as a day scholar?

4. Is infra good enough like washroom or water filter?

I recently admitted to computer technology 6 sem PG

Evening class. I'm not expecting much but a simple mnc job of 4+ lpa . Will college provide me placement opportunities ? And I feel myself as a 6-7 gpa student out of 10 will it be enough for being able to sit in placements

CL e general vacancy kota achhe ota jante parle bhalo hoto. Also I was taking a look at the seat matrix, St reservation is 5 yet only 2 people appeared for the adm test. PD reservation is 4 and only one of them appeared for the adm test. So that leaves 3 and 3 seats. Total 6. Also obc category te 10 jon achhe. List went down to 84, sweeping the first 6 people. Considering the last 4 candidates, 2 seats are still left empty(obc reservation is 6). My primary question is what will happen to this 3+3+2=8 seats, will they be converted to general seats in the 2nd list? Also EWS reservation is 8 and not a single person of that category appeared for the adm test, what'll happen of those 8 seats? Will they be turned to general seats in 2nd lists too? I'm sorry, my rank is 98.the list went down to 84. I'm just frantically trying to gauge my chances. Will really appreciate if someone would help me out on this🙏🙏🙏

If anyone's formally withdrawn from Jadavpur UG Engineering B. Tech, could you please dm me?😭 I'm joining a different institution and I tried to withdraw at JU today but two of the people who had to sign on the withdrawal form aren't here because it's heavily raining. A rep also said I had to go to the KMR at salt lake? Is this the regular process? Also, is there anyone who has joined a different institution without withdrawing from JU? I know it isn't technically possible but I have to go to NIT tomorrow itself for final admission and I do not have my school leaving certificate but I have the migration so can I still take admission or will I be sent back? PLEASE respond if you have ANY information whatsoever‼️🙏😭
