Cuttings still not growing well

I have these two cuttings that are more than a month old. They’re not from a very healthy mother (as you can see on the brown spots on the leaves). I dried them for a couple of weeks after cutting, then transferred to small plastic pots. I noticed the leaves didnt fatten and I suspected the soil mix was probably too hydrophobic.

So last week, I transferred them together to this clay pot and a better soil mix.

When do I expect the leaves to fatten/absorb water? The bigger one has a tiny root, but the smaller one still doesn’t have. They don’t seem to have root rot as the ends are fairly brown and dry.

I tried so hard to save the mother plant but it ended with death by root rot (didn’t realise the pot wasnt draining well) so desperate to save these babies!

Brand New Jade (Crassula Ovata) Freshly Pruned, Potted & Loved

First pic is just me trying to hold her up in a temporary pot. I bought her on Etsy for $20 & have pruned any branch growing downwards & removed any leaf looked especially unhealthy. It’s been 3 days & as she’s settled into her new pot (holes at the bottom, ofc), she has continued to straighten up, but I have a stake on hand just in case. I just did the taco test on her, & the leaves are telling me that she’s well-watered & doing well. She’s also callusing well. I am very pleased so far. Probably going to propagate cuttings today or tomorrow based on their level of callus. (Yes—I named her. I named her after the protagonist on the show, Silo!!)

Any feedback/suggestions/further advice is greatly welcome & appreciated.
