Chin Puppy Temperament?

Chin Puppy Temperament?

Hi guys!

What was everyone’s experience like with their chins when they were puppies? High energy, hard to toilet train, separation anxiety etc?

Thank you!

Edit:

Thanks everyone for your replies! I love reading about your chins and their different personalities. My girl is 13 weeks and full of beans, shes my first chin!

Syringomyelia or Chiari syndrome in dogs

Hello everyone! I sometimes like to lurk in this sub to see your lovely Japanese Chins that are all very beautiful!

I'm writing here to ask for advices and an opinion, I hope I'm clear enough because English is not my native language.

Two weeks ago Vicky, my mother's Japanese Chin, started to shake her head just as we were taking walk. At first I thought that maybe a bug was making her nervous, then she kept shaking her head and we became worried so we took her quickly to the vet. The vet did not find anything, but she kept shaking so we took her a to a secondary vet who knows Vicky very well, she also did not find anything wrong with her ear though she noticed that her ear channel was a little bit red, so she suggested some in ear drops.

Though we were already worried since when she was only one year old we found out she had acute otitis media

Unfortunately, she is still shaking her head and is very annoyed by her ear, so today we took again to her primary vet who suggested a neurological test to make sure she doesn't have syringomyelia or Chiari syndrome (I think it's also called like this in English).

Unfortunately before Vicky we had a Cavalier King who suffered from this condition, but when my mother bought Vicky the dog breeder who sold her assured her that Japanese Chins are not affected by Chiari syndrome. So I'm asking if some of you have ever had Japanese Chin with this condition and how did they fare.

Thanks everybody for the attention, I know it's a long post!

Do you usually call your dog by their full name, or a nickname?

I obviously don't use mine's full, registered name - it's a bit of a mouthful - but I tend to not often call him by it at all.

His name is Kohaku, so either that or Haku would likely be expected as what he's called, but honestly? Most of the time, he's Little Bug. That's just kind of what I always call him!

(For anyone curious, his full proper name is Emperor Kohaku of the Jade Lotus Throne. I figured if I was going to have it on paper, why not have fun with it and make it all regal?)

Kohaku (Little Bug or Little Floof) with his guardian, Mochi (Mosh-Mosh or Big Floof)
