My Top 5 Reverse Mint Mark 1 Mon Kan'ei

These coins were what got me into collecting Japanese cash. Took me about a year to complete my set, though I am missing the really rare pieces like the iron Ichi revese, and the mother coins of 十, 川, and ト. Ranked in order starting from my favorite.

  1. Ichinose-sen 一 Ichi mint mark. The last one I got, and though its the most simple, it appeals to me the most for that reason. The obverse calligraphy is also nice.

  2. Nagasaki-sen 長 Naga mint mark. Very unique calligraphy style, as well as the thin rims make it one of my top favorites

  3. Ashio-sen 足 Ashi mint mark. Funky calligraphy and an interesting mint in my opinion. I would like to visit the museum and town there some day.

  4. Hitachi-ota-sen 久二 Ku Ni mint mark. Unique for its use of 2 characters, obverse calligraphy is also nice.

  5. Sendai-sen 仙 Sen mint mark. A nice strong coin.

Thoughts on era?

Just recieved this mameitagin and was wondering if specific era could be determined. Unfortunately the marker inside Daikoku is off flan, so it's probably a long shot but I'll ask anyways. Im thinking Kyoho or Bunsei.

Japanese Coin Shops

So, I am traveling to Japan and I am wondering what coin shops are like in Japan. I have done a little research here and there, but nothing conclusive. I am kind of curious as to whether they have anything comparable to circulated US 90% silver. I’ve seen some sterling 100/1000 yen coins, that and 72% Sen/Yen from just before WWII (those are particularly beautiful)

Basically, I am wondering if anybody may have any experience with coin shops in Japan. I am considering trying to find smaller shops that might trade US silver for Japanese silver. That and just how the shops are or if anybody might have a personal favorite shop in Tokyo or Osaka. Or anywhere else really, I do want to see places other than Tokyo.

Thank you to anybody for the information!

My top 5 favorite 1 mon Kaneitsuho varieties (blank reverse)

I find these to be the most pleasing as well as wacky calligraphy varieties of Kan'eitsūhō. Ranked in no particular order, however the Kameido Genbunki-sen is absolutely my favorite.

  1. 亀戸元文期銭、大字 Kameido Genbunki-sen, large characters. It is a beautiful type.
  2. 不旧手藤沢銭 Fukyute Fujisawa-sen. My favorite of the Fukyute group.
  3. 和歌山銭、大字 Wakayama-sen, large characters. Funky script and beautiful black patina on this coin in particular.
  4. 日光銭 Nikko-sen. Unfortunately I do not have the Chidori type yet.
  5. 洲崎銭 Shusaki-sen. The Tsū is written particularly nicely.

Looking for any information on this coin

My husband passed away last year and I'm finally going through massive amounts of stuff and trying to rehome/sell. I think this is a Japanese coin, but I can't recall any details. Any info would be appreciated.
