Jeep Project with POPS!

Decided it’s time. I called my pops and said why don’t we start a project together… he has shared many memories of his times modifying cars/trucks growing up as a kid with his dad so I figured why don’t we start one! He was all about it. Move excited than I was. We got to work immediately.

We removed the back seats. Built a little DIY platform to flatten the entire area. Cut the cargo storage tub out, added brackets to the wood and installed it back to continue to act as a rear storage compartment.

We are beginning to carpet it today. So far so good, (he hasn’t gotten pissed yet haha) regardless time is limited. Start the project with your pops.

More pics to come. Not sure what it’s going to turn out to be but we started! Just found this group today.
Posting out of SC, if I see you I’ll duck you!!
Much love to the jeep fam, 2020 Jeep Wrangler JL

1979 Jeep DJ5

My spouse and I bought this beautiful 1979 Jeep DJ5 for her to use as both a personal vehicle around town and as a mail delivery (she's a rural carrier for USPS). It's had quite a bit of work done over the years: new alternator, fuel pump, shocks, some electrical rewiring, battery, and ignition coil. It suddenly stalled out yesterday and I'm trying to figure out why. It tries to turn over so I think it maybe fuel line related. There's what I think is an original fuel filter (see pictures) that goes to a newer electric fuel pump > another fuel filter > carburetor. Any assistance or advice is welcomed. I've also included pictures of the engine & carburetor.

Edit: the fuel line is good from the tank to the carburetor. The spark plugs looked like they should be replaced so I did. I also ended up replacing one of the ignition wires due to breakage. I still can't get this ol' car to run. The fan turns and it acts like it wants to start but there's no ignition.

2018 Cherokee Trailhawk rear knuckle bushings keep failing

Hello everyone I'm looking for some advice on how to fix this issue myself. I've had the rear knuckle bushings on the passenger side replaced twice in the last 6 months. This was causing my tires to lean into the top and be negative camber. The tire shop told me that someone installed my 2-in lift incorrectly and did not put extended control arms on. That's why my coil spring is curved. Putting extra pressure on the bushings and that's why they keep failing. All of the research I've seen is a 2-in lift should be fine with stock parts. I do have one Inch wheel spacers and aftermarket Bilstein suspension lift kit. The last time the bushing failed on the passenger side it made the driver side tire wear more unevenly on the inside and be more negative camber not sure if that helps . I'm just not trying to pay a shop a bunch of money for something I can do any advice or thoughts as much appreciated

Tips for removing a threaded brass fitting?

So I recently installed an air locker in the front of my jeep. Everything went pretty smooth, until I got to the very last step

I had to drill and tap a hole into my front differential for the airline to pass through. A copper air line comes out of the locker, through the differential, and using a brass bulkhead fitting, a steel push-connect fitting seals the bulkhead and copper line. I (stupidly) didn’t put the push-to-connect fitting in before tightening the bulkhead. I’m guessing that I somehow squeezed it too tight, warped the brass, and now the push to connect won’t thread in

Before I drain the diff oil, and drill/retap the hole I made to replace the bulkhead, I’m wondering if anyone has any cool tricks to get this thing out, like dry ice or something. You can tell by the picture that I’ve used every pair of vice grips I have to make it almost perfectly round now lol, it’s definitely stuck

Sorry for long post, TIA

DIY Door Hanger. I mounted 6 hinge straps (gate hardware) on a 2x6 and a 2x3 as a spacer/stabilizer behind the 2x6. All in for 40-50.

2020 JL Rubicon 2.0T — Does IAT Sensor 1 physically exist? JScan showing -31°F and need help identifying sensor in photo

2020 Jeep Wrangler JL Unlimited Rubicon 2.0T

VIN: 1C4HJXFN5LW330598 Year: 2020 Model: Jeep Wrangler JL Unlimited Rubicon Engine: 2.0L Turbocharged I4 Mileage: 40,972

JScan live data showing two separate IAT readings:
IAT Sensor 1: -31°F
IAT Sensor 2: 106°F

No fault codes currently.

Recently replaced upstream O2 sensor Mopar 68217019AA which resolved P1128. O2 Sensor 1 voltage still reading stuck at 4.00V and downstream fuel trim at 99.22%.

Everything else running well, fuel trims normal, closed loop achieved, zero misfires.

Two questions for anyone with a 2020 JL 2.0T:

  1. Does this engine actually have a physical IAT Sensor 1 or is it a calculated value from another sensor?
  2. Looking at the photos of my engine bay, can anyone identify what that sensor is and if that could be the IAT Sensor 1 location?

Photo attached.

Air suspension relearn trouble

Hey guys My 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland air suspension went out. I changed out all my components, All 4 Air Struts/Bags, Compressor, Valve Block, Connectors. I’m trying to have run the relearn/refill program with Full functionality OBD2 Scanner accessing the ASCM.
My problem is it won’t complete it.

I Run the Height sensor check, it succeeds and then run the rewrite suspension values and it then tells me the sensors are not calibrated, test can’t be run.

Live data shows all 4 height sensors at -100.00mm no change or fluctuations for anything.

Can anyone help me figure out why I can’t get the ecu to read height sensors?

They were just fine before I deflated the system and repaired its components. Any help would be appreciated thank you.

Faulty fuel pump

A warning to all that need a new fuel pump. I bought this last year and now the line that connects the pump to the pressure regulator will not stay connected. I tried to put a hose clamp on it but I can't seem to get down on it enough for it to clamp down. I have had to take my tank out and re-attach this stupid hose four times. I'm so sick of it that I put an old used pump in so I don't have to bother with all this extra B's. If you need a new pump assembly DO NOT get this style. It's cheap for a reason, spend the money and get a stock Chrysler style and spare yourself the headache.

Front Axle Question

So I own a 1998 Wrangle TJ with a dana 30 front end. It has a lift (not sure how much), along with oversized tires. The front differential is bad and I was wondering if it would be smart to try and just rebuild the dana 30 or try and get a dana 44. It will be used for overlanding, not extreme but moderate.

Hey everyone ran into a bit of a dilemma this afternoon trying to leave the job sight. So this morning I hopped into my '99 XJ and in two seconds it fired up like normal. Drove for about 20 minutes to the job and parked it till 4 o'clock when I went to leave and I have a no start. I can hear the fuel pump kick on but I've got no pressure to the rail. Can anyone give me a good starting point? My pump is only a year old and like I said I can hear it kick on when I turn the key, could it be my charcoal filter? I noticed the line from the pump to the charcoal filter is really rusty but the line from the pump to the rail is clean and free of any corrosion. Any help would be appreciated.
