I honestly don't know what the problem is. Most of the time when I go to start it, it doesn't want to start and I have to give it gas and hold the pedal for a few minutes before it either shuts off, or will finally hold idle on its own. Even then when coming to a stop it will start to idle at 1200rpm. I've changed about every sensor I can think of(crank,cam, tps map,iac) swapped spark plugs, new distributor cap, spark plug wires etc. even changed the intake manifold gasket thinking that could be the issue. recently it started making the puffing noise near the back cylinders and the chirping sound started not even 3 days ago. If anyone has any idea of what's wrong the help would be greatly appreciated
I followed directions etc and scraped, brake clean, everything but it leaked as soon as I filled up with 5 quarts
Any ideas?
I was curious about converting my 96 5.2L v8 to run on propane, I'm having a hard time trying to find a kit that would work with the engine, does anyone have any ideas or any places they could point me to that would be greatly appreciated
Good ole once a year check for any leaks, degrease, scrub, and shine.
Put my ax15 in and it won’t shift even though the clutch releases and when I let off the clutch it goes forward but won’t shift to neutral or any other gear
I have a 52-inch curved LED light bar and I'm looking for a mount that matches the car's aesthetics (it fits perfectly at the top of the windshield). If anyone knows of one, it would be a great help, thanks.
I have a zj where the overhead console lights are always turned on it is a 97 and was wondering if there’s any way to fix this problem the regular ceiling lights are all burnt out and don’t turn on so all tbe ceiling lights in general could be on and I can’t tell without replacing the bulbs, has anyone encountered this?
Tie rod connection to drag link is rubbing against the underside of the drag link when turning right. This is causing both abrasion to the parts and a limit to the turn radius.
Recently replaced track bar. I want to replace both the tie rod and drag link, but I don’t want to buy thicker parts and have even worse issues.
As far as I am aware, the control arms (upper and lower) are stock, and I have a suspicion that the axle is slightly more rearward than it should be. But that wouldn’t fix this particular issue as far as I am aware.
I’m hoping the issue is sagging due to deteriorated tie rod/drag link causing rubbing. But really, my opinion is worth zilch; what do yall think?
Hey all!
I have a 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee 5.2 v8. About two years, it completely died on me while driving (was idling at a traffic light, then it stalled). Since then, I haven’t managed to get it started. The engine turns over, but the tach is not moving. I initially thought it was the CPS, but I’ve now replaced it with 3 different ones (am in Europe, so hard to find original parts). At this point, I’m inclined to rule out the CPS itself (even if I still don’t have a mopar). I’ve also tried to wire battery negative directly to the blue/black wire for the CPS to rule out bad ground (makes no difference). I’ve also replaced the PCM, which made no difference.
Other things I’ve checked:
* Fuses
* Relays (swapped the horn relay with the ASD)
* The fuel pump runs for a few seconds (I can hear it, and I can smell the gasoline)
* Tried start spray
At this point, I’m running out of ideas. I’ve tried to measure the signal and reference wires (black/white and orange or red) but I’m not really sure which is which. At least one of them gives constant 5v. Other things I’m thinking:
* Other sensors (MAP, TPS etc) shorting the circuit?
* Camshaft position sensor?
Any help on this would be greatly appreciated! I’m getting quite frustrated with this car.
Anything’s to look out for with this thing? Transmission is the auto 4-speed, but recently started to give out and hardly has any pull power after about a month or so of of driving it a few miles here and there. Would it be easier to get a new at $1.8k plus whatever install/labor hours would be? Or drop it myself and try to figure it out?
Like I stated in the title it has a 5.2 magnum v8 from 93 everything original except the usual “custom” wiring I’m going to have to fix from speakers/old head unit.
I have the Throttle positioning sensor kit, new battery, and some MSD spark plugs from Holley to get started while it’s not moving. Any pointers, tips, or information from anyone that knows this platform please comment below and I’ll get with you. If it’s more than a bother for anyone with the correct experience compensation for knowledge and the time typing can be discussed lol
