Well thinking of trying to sell my very large amount of coaster parts

I have so many coaster parts and a 7ft unfinished coaster also. No idea of a price to try to sell all of these at. Anyone have any ideas? Just haven’t used them in a while so might look at getting rid of em. But I also feel like ima get the itch to build a new coaster and then I’m not gonna have any parts😞. Maybe for the right price I’ll let it all go

$2.50 Goodwill Gem

My daughter dragged me to Goodwill to look for Monster High dolls. I was lucky to stumble upon this unopened 2014 build! My son had a blast building it!

Little Honda engine I made during COVID

The only part that really drove me nuts was that I couldn’t get a true 2:1 gear ratio so I could never get the valves to time correctly with the cylinders but this was the best I could do and I thought it worked out pretty well.

3 Plane Connectors for KNEX

Hello Everyone!

I'm completely new to reddit but I figured you all would be able to give some pretty great advice. Sorry if this post gets long, please bear with me. I hope you'll find this interesting.

So, I was going through stuff in my garage and found a bunch of KNEX that I hadn't messed with in years. I considered selling them, but they sparked my interest, so I started building some random things to relive those old memories. After a bit I decided to make a basic cube and was honestly pretty disappointed. It turned out looking a lot like this picture I found online:

https://preview.redd.it/zy0mg5s7er1h1.jpg?width=626&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=90ec658e6a97e170e041e3a7008c94c1af8ae395

I was really disappointed to find out that there isn't a piece that works nicely as a structural corner for a cube. I have seen designs that have a rod going through the hole of a right-angle connector, but those provide no strength. I did some research on this problem and haven't found any good solutions, whether from original KNEX or from custom pieces that hobbyists have made. So, since I have a 3D printer, I decided to give a go at creating a solution. After a bunch of failed designs and head scratching, I ended up with a design that requires 3 identical pieces. When 3 of these pieces are assembled together (no glue or anything) this is what they look like:

https://preview.redd.it/dattw5wvgr1h1.jpg?width=3072&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=4f53df2c0cd852ee65a88c788817bf01d5354e71

https://preview.redd.it/zam9d6czkr1h1.jpg?width=3072&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=3a318f4543dc759f477528af875a7162d85cb013

And when used as the corners of a cube, this is the final result:

https://preview.redd.it/h75bu5wahr1h1.jpg?width=3072&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=aa3eb18989dae4dbb444eae4115d05bd42e73189

Sorry these images seem really large; I have no clue how to make them smaller.

Anyways, this is basically the exact solution I was looking for as these corners are incredibly strong (made of same ABS material as original KNEX) and serve as perfect corners while providing connection points on all 3 planes, rather than just 2. You can see a regular tetrahedron is also created from the red rods as well, which is very interesting (I don't think that is possible to make with regular KNEX).

They are completely physically locked together and cannot come apart from pulling forces aside from those which break the pieces or bend the locking tabs. This is a huge advantage over the original KNEX 3D connectors which slide apart easily (I saw a post about this not too long ago). That being said, these pieces can still be easily disassembled by lifting the locking tab with your fingernail or a set of tweezers (I recommend tweezers).

Expanding upon this idea to include other types of 3 plane connectors, I ended up with a total of 4 unique pieces. These pieces can be combined to create basically any type of custom 3 plane connector. Some very common examples are shown here:

https://preview.redd.it/6uy8o0ndlr1h1.jpg?width=4096&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=678e58125f4d9771e6ba347c0f6cad0590def95c

And yes, that connector on the left has all 18 connection points. It offers some very perplexing geometry:

https://preview.redd.it/kqtdo9g3mr1h1.jpg?width=3072&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=1d8a91fec634fd6de81de1280b25f5829e3c2bb9

See how it allows for 60-degree angles from only 45-degree angles? I thought that was pretty fascinating. Here is another example of a very strong and clean looking structure made using my custom parts which showcases even more possibilities:

Please let me know if something like this has been done before as I don't want to steal anyone's thunder. However, is this something you would like to experiment with? Or is it not cool because it isn't original KNEX. I'm considering this as something I could sell and was wondering if there was any interest in the community. What would you be willing to pay for a piece with these capabilities? Sorry I just saw the post about avoiding using this channel to sell things, but I'm very curious to hear what you experts have to say!

My custom K’NEX 2006 Hummer H1 Alpha Open Top build 🚙

The Hummer H1 has always been one of my favorite vehicles, so I wanted to try recreating a 2006 H1 Alpha Open Top in K’NEX form.

A lot of the challenge came from getting the proportions and width right while still keeping the structure stable. I also tried adding small details like the grille, interior layout, trunk area, removable/open-top styling, and custom wheel setups.

I’m still planning additional upgrades including:
• suspension
• parking brake
• motorized winch
• cloth roof storage
• different off-road wheels
• trail/off-road videos

I also made a full walkaround video for anyone interested in seeing more details of the build: https://youtu.be/uY34dRB4Kk8

Is knex still officially available?

I learned about knex recently and prefer them to Lego. what is the best way to get a collection going?

I may be mistaken, but it doesn’t seem to be officially available.

thanks

Have you considered gluing together your 3-D pieces?

I have had some structures flex instead of staying firm. Have you ever considered gluing them together? It is mostly the purple-to-purple unions that I have come apart more easily.

The new development to left hand of ball machine

The final bit shows an out put that holds then deposits 2 balls out at same time

Would really appreciate any ideas on something that could do with that , that would fit on an out side of tower, and needs 2 balls at same time in order to work

Middle School Physics class end of year projects.

Got out some of my K'nex roller coasters for the end of year project. They did great working in groups of 6 on each coaster. One group didn't communicate very well and built the same pages twice a couple of times.

Today was testing day and both worked flawlessly.
