No more GMA Gala this year?

No more GMA Gala this year?

Kapansin-pansin na wala pa teaser na magkakaroon ng gala this year. Usually kasi August ito. Mukhang napakahigpit na ng budgeting ng GMA at ayaw na gumastos for such events. Sayang best way pa man din ito to market their own stars.

It needs to be studied why GMA is more of a trend follower, not a trendsetter

As the media organization with the widest reach in the country and arguably, the most profitable media company, more often than not, GMA just follows trends instead of dictating it. Mapapakamot ng ulo ka na lang talaga. They even tap content creators to join their teleseryes for these shows to have more clout while there are only a handful of GMA artists who became popular online and kadalasan, sariling sikap pa nila or dahil sa collab with ABS like PBB. Once these artists become popular, they milk it until the last drop but they do not contribute in sustaining the hype of these artists.

In the last 5 years ilan ba ang napasikat nila na

  1. Artists na naging household names (I would count David Licauco due to MCAI, PBB Collab 1 and 2 HMs)

  2. Singers and hit songs?

  3. Dancers and dance trends?

  4. Memes and other Pop culture stuff (probably Kara David's Pinasarap and IWitness narrations)

  5. Series and movies na iconic (probably only Maria Clara at Ibarra)

Why kaya? Is it a general lack of creativity sa mga execs nila? I would argue na hindi kailangan ng malaking budget to improve their soft power. Kaya nga ng small content creators. Kahit nga hindi original pero maganda execution, people would consume it. Something their stockholders and executives need to think about.

Gabi ng Lagim: The Movie

Thankful and di namin to napanuod ng mga barkada sa sinehan. It would have been a waste of money and time. No wonder di tayo umaangat sa international scene. Most of our movies are of low quality. Pang comedy bar. Hahaha GMA, Kelan kayo mag step out sa fantasy stories and focus sa mga more meaningful and more realistic na storyline 😂

Maybe I expected too much from You’re My Favorite Song?

Maybe I just expected too much because the teaser and promotions were genuinely good. Since this was marketed as CapEath’s first lead series together, I thought we’d get to see a story that really centered on their relationship and let their chemistry shine.

Don’t get me wrong, I don’t think You’re My Favorite Song is a bad series. There are scenes that I genuinely enjoy, and CapEath definitely have chemistry. My issue has always been more with the storytelling and pacing than with the actors themselves.

I feel like the series sends mixed signals. There are times when Miguel is heavily involved, then there are episodes where he barely feels present. I was hoping to see more moments that naturally develop their relationship instead of jumping from one plot point to another. I wanted those quiet moments where they comfort each other, build trust, and make viewers genuinely invest in them as a couple.

I think that’s why some CapEath fans are frustrated. It’s not simply because people want more screentime for their ship. This is their first lead project together, so naturally fans expected the story to consistently highlight them and give them enough moments to grow as the main pairing. When so many viewers keep bringing up similar concerns, I don’t think it’s fair to dismiss it as fans “overreacting.”

Another reason why I think the fandom has been more emotional is because of everything happening outside the series. It honestly feels like a lot of the promotion has been carried by the fans themselves. We’ve seen fanbases organize billboards, streaming projects, hashtag events, edits, voting campaigns, and other initiatives because we genuinely wanted this project to succeed.

As a fan, that can be draining. You keep putting in time, money, and effort because you believe in the project, but sometimes it feels like the support from the management hasn’t matched the level of dedication coming from the fandom. Of course, promotions alone won’t fix a story, but stronger and more consistent support could have helped build momentum for CapEath’s first lead series.

Maybe that’s why the criticism feels stronger now. It’s not coming from a place of hate, I think most fans just want the show to live up to the potential we saw in the teaser and in CapEath themselves.

I’m still rooting for You’re My Favorite Song. There are still episodes left, and I genuinely hope the remaining story gives the characters more depth, improves the pacing, and finally gives CapEath the moments that made so many of us excited for this series in the first place.

GMA and their socmed post captions

Hello. Am I the only one who finds it weird when GMA posts show clips and then put the real names of the artists beside the character names in parenthesis in the captions?

Instead of the nametags and the real names, why not promote their character names instead? Look at Kazel Kinouchi. Or why not invest in more marketing and promotion? Dalawang bagay na ayaw nila

Lexi Gonzales - Miguel Tanfelix Chemistry

Just in case, they can do solid drama with action or slice-of-life drama na relatable sana. What do you guys think? Share nyo rin thoughts niyo :D

Thoughts and Memories of 'My Guitar Princess'

Nakakatuwa kase I found my people here hahaha

MGP was mentioned a few times sa mga posts about YMFS and I'm happy to see na may nakakaalala pa nito.

My Guitar Princess is one of those GMA dramas na sinubaybayan ko talaga. At the same time, I find it hard to rewatch this on YouTube kase CelTin biased ako at ayoko kay Elton😆 Though up to now, I still listen to MGP's original songs, particularly yung 'Maghintay' and 'Sa Dulo'. Soundtrack is 10/10. Ang di ko lang favorite ay yung 'Is It Love?' ni Gil Cuerva. Okay lang naman but it's not something I enjoy listening to.

Katulad din nung iba rito sa sub, I'm still annoyed na Justin wasn't given the happy ending he deserved. Ewan ko ba sa mga writers! Binigyan nila ng masyadong maraming sweet and significant moments sina Justin at Celina only for them to push through with Celina choosing Elton kase childhood bestfriends sila😭

Really?! Elton talaga over Justin na green flag, caring, protective, and supportive? Over Justin talaga who opened the opportunity for Celina to pursue singing? He loved Celina without conditions.

I also don't remember kung may active CelTon fans at that time. In short, most viewers were really rooting for Justin para kay Celina.

I can also still remember how toxic things turned out among fans of the show. May mga viewers na binabash si Julie Anne — like they forgot to separate the character from the actress. His acting and singing were highly criticized. Kiko Estrada naman gained new fans who eventually stopped supporting him noong naging sila ni Devon Seron.

There was also a rumor about Kiko Estrada. Supposedly raw, may singing part din sana siya sa show but may condition siya that wasn't met kaya hindi siya pumayag na kumanta. Take this as a grain of salt though. Parang this time din nagstart na maging malabo sina Julie Anne at Benjamin Alves. I remember fans calling out Benjamin kase inunahan pa siya ni Kiko na i-promote yung song ni Julie Anne.

If you haven't watched MGP yet and you wanna ask, "Worth it ba?", I advice that you see it for yourself😊 Kase for me naman, kahit hindi nasunod yung gusto kong ending, I still enjoyed watching it. It's light, heart-warming, nakakakilig, and funny. You shouldn't miss the songs, too!

On one hand, to those who have watched it, kung may thoughts and memories din kayo about My Guitar Princess, share niyo lang at pag-usapan natin. Go lang kung magrarant kayo about CelTon😆 It doesn't matter kung 8 years late, charrr!

Joy Barcoma's farewell walk on national TV

"Jusa" may not have gotten the chance to do her farewell walk on the Miss Philippine Earth stage, but she finally had the opportunity to do so on Unang Hirit.

HOT TAKE!!! ABOUT SHOWTIME

Showtime won't be funny nang hindi nanlalait ng contestants or co-hosts. It's a routine and it kinda normalizes the act that it's okay to make fun of other people's looks/whatever it is just to make the audience( other people) happy. I think bullying is the right term? THIS IS JUST MY HOT TAKE. Especially with the Kim Chiu and Ryzha Mae issue rn, I think it's about time we talk about this

History x Fiction Fantasy Action series

Dear GMA why can't we have another fantasy action series based or referenced on Philippine history? But wouldn't it be cool kung meron tayong creative group to discuss about a Fictional Historical Universe of Pre-Spaniard to Spaniard Era ng Pilipinas? Yung may source materials from our own Folklore and Mythical creatures? Gamitin ito but the places, names and stories are based only on creative juices of the team. Bahala na kayo paano gamitin ang sources but make sure accurate sya. I've been waiting for this to happen, if may Encantadia sa era namin sana this time, may ganito sa Gen Z 🥹 expose them to the Ancient world of our country, bring us and them back to the lives of our ancestors.

The Russel Wiki...

I've bet you've heard about this wiki, full of hoaxes and misinformation, before.

This wiki, which is under several names (including Philippine Television, TV Philippines, Dxs, and Philippine Radio and TV Schedules), has a lot of misinformation, particularly on shows from GMA, PTV4, IBC13 and RPN9.

It's made a bunch of hoaxes, like Who Wants to be a Millionaire and Battle of the Brains "coming back" on IBC and RPN. (although Battle of the Brains did kinda come back, its on Bilyonaryo now as "Quiz B"). They even claim IBC-13 is the #1 tv network, a title it hasnt held since 1982.

This wiki has exploited (and made several lies about) two teens called Ella Perez Dagohoy and Marriel Dagohoy. They are real people (as evidenced they even have Facebook) but this wiki, in its several names, have exploited them and have attached their names on fake PTV4 shows. Creepy.

A lot who spread hoaxes on Facebook usually follow or come/edit from this wiki.
