​I’ve used this bag every single day for over 8 years, but unfortunately, the bottom finally started wearing through. Instead of replacing it, I took it to a local leather craftsman—a lovely older gentleman. For only about 20% of what a brand-new backpack would cost, he fixed it right up by stitching a tough, heavy-duty fabric onto the bottom.

​To be honest, I think I actually like it even more now with that color on the bottom!

​I’m hoping this will keep it going for many more years to come. And if it ever breaks again, I’ll definitely be taking it right back to a local artisan for another repair.

Do you guys have any examples of awesome repairs that were worth every single penny?

My girlfriend and I have traveled to 50 countries with these Kankens. I've had a "Remove Before Flight" tag for a long time, and I finally found one for hers that matches.

This colourway is a nightmare to keep in any sort of "clean", but I adore it

I thrifted this bag years ago thinking I’d use it for work, but i decided against it and it has sat in my closet for years. I’m looking to sell it, but don’t want to list it as authentic if it’s not. I couldn’t find one with this shell and strap colour combo.

I know very little about this brand outside off that I used to see kids with these bags all the time, and I was surprised to know that knockoffs exist.

So I just got my new Crossbody and woah is she tiny! I thought the size diff with the Sling would be bigger. I’m still super happy tho, if anything I was worried it would be too big. It’s so cute too!

Hello everyone,
I was gifted a Kankan a number of years ago, and used it as my primary backpack my first year of uni. However, it got quite dirty, (A pen must have exploded inside, as you can see,) so I retired it after the year. Fast forward to now, about three years later, I found it again, and am attempting to clean it so I can use it in the fall when I am going to be a paraprofessional in a preschool classroom. I know you can’t wash it, but I tried spot cleaning years ago and just spent 45 minutes scrubbing this thing to hell and back and following Wikihow’s article, but she’s still super gross. I really want to take her out of retirement: is she too far gone? If not, what can I do?
