Used Vulcan questions

I’m looking at a bike local to me a 2018 with 11k miles. The gal that bought it never rode it except once and she dumped it. It was throwing codes 12 and 62 that she was hoping a new battery would take care of but they are still there. She’s asking 4k. Can anyone tell me if those codes should clear on their own after a new battery? Google says they are related to an electrical issue. Not sure if I should walk. I did ride it and while it rode nice it did die a lot in the throttle zone without giving it some gas. Thanks

1995 Vulcan 500 - 4k miles

Im looking for my first bike for and i really like the look of this (wish the handlebars weren’t so high but whatever) but i’m concerned about it having such little miles for a 1995 bike. Should i be weary of it? he says he cleaned all the fluids & carbs 2 months ago. What should i be looking for when i see the bike? i talked him down from 2k to $1500. I’ll take any advice you can give, thanks!

Good price? Cafe ABS $8600 OTD

I found a new 2025 Vulcan S Cafe ABS at a dealer in Southern California. They’ll give it to me for $8600 OTD.

I think it’s a decent price, but I’m wondering if they’ll drop it even more toward the end of the month to hit their quotas.

What do you think? Take it now or wait it out? I’m not in a rush. I just want a great deal

Are my wires too short?

Almost done building my bike and for fun I decided to see if I could get the controls back on without extending the cables, but somehow I have them on and there is still slack when I have the bars fully locked both left and right.

Everything I’ve read said I would need extended cables with anything over 12” bars… these are 18s

Just want to make sure I’m not missing something here.

Missing a bolt or just a space for position adjustments?

I’m thinking about buying a used 2024 Vulcan S Cafe with ABS. The seller sent me pics of the imperfections. One of them (yellow highlight) shows what appears to be a missing bolt.

I’m not mechanical, so I don’t know if the empty space is supposed to be there to allow for ergo fit customizations or if there really should be a bolt there.

The red highlight is the same location, just a different camera angle.

Should I be concerned about this?

Putting rear 150 80 16 d404 dunlop on kawasaki vn800

Like the title says, is it okay to put this tire size on a kawasaki vn800? Many formus say that is okay. How big of a difference is it going to make. The stock tire size is 140/90-16 . Thanks

First Bike… Vulcan 900 custom?

Hey everyone… I’m looking for some help with finding my first bike. I’m 6’2, 220lbs and looking for a bike to learn on and ride around Los Angeles. I found a 2020 Vulcan 900 custom for $4k with 4500 miles in good condition. Is there anything mechanically I should be looking for when looking at it? I’ve done some research on the Vulcan and except for the weight, it doesn’t seem too bad as a starter bike. Please correct me if I am completely wrong. Thanks for all the help.

Edit: I forgot to mention that I have my MSF scheduled for later this month as well.

Long warm up period?

My early 2000’s Vulcan 800 classic has a LONG warm up period. Like 20+ minutes before I can ride it.

This doesn’t seem normal (but maybe I’m just impatient), I’m also at a loss as to what I should check. Is it just old fuel, should I change out the fuel filter, bypass the proxy router, flush the defibrillator?

It idles just fine, but when I try to go full throttle it dies until it fully warms up.

Iteration 2 of the single carb conversion.

Got it to fire up and run but have to adjust the carb a bit more. Seems like its sucking in too much air. Mixture screw is 3.5turns out and can at least get it to fire up cold after a few cranks. If anyone has any knowledge on the chinesium cv40 carbs please dont be shy and teach me.

I'll soon make a filter for it so that might help a bit too for the airflow metering.

Cheers!!

(Still should have made the intake out of stainless) 😄

What is going on

I bought this 2005 Vulcan 500 off of someone just a couple days ago and just got it started. All I did was charge the battery and put some oil/gas in it. After having to jump it to start it starts smoking coming out from the very bottom. Anyone know what’s going on? This is also my first post on Reddit so I have no idea what I’m doing here either

Scooterizing

I’m pretty confused about scooterizing my Vulcan 800. I watched a video on YouTube about how to do it but a lot of people were saying that he didn’t vent the crankcase. How do I do that? Where is the crankcase vent and how do I properly vent it? I’m also confused about the reed valve in the head covers. Some say to leave the hose ports open and some say to run a hose between the 2 ports with a marble in between. If anyone knows the proper procedure for scooterizing I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks for reading

The $300 Vulcan

Came here a little while ago asking how to remove the spots off my bike. Thought I’d share a picture of how it sits now. A little bit of bike cover burnt onto the exhaust still I think. Might just replace it with eBay pipes

Coolant question

I just got my bike out of storage since I havent been able to ride in a few years. I dont remember what coolant was put in but it needs drained at the least since its low and very dark green. I dont have the money to pay a mechanic to do a flush. Can I just drain and add the proper coolant, dump some distilled water in to flush what I can then add coolant, or what's my best plan of attack? Im no mechanic but know enough to get myself in and maybe out of trouble.

New bike

got this ‘98 for dirt cheap after its been sitting for some years in a garage, the bike runs really well but i feel like aesthetically something is off (something other than the side cover missing), what do you guys think?

Its a sad day...

Alright guys. It happened... I crashed for the first time, and messed my gorgeous girl up. Her handlebar was bent, as was her crashbar. Her front left blinker and auxiliary light, and the main headlight are destroyed, and there's a nasty dent in the fuel tank. I wanna keep her as stock as possible, but I don't know where to find parts.
