Ultima Arena Fighter 7: Luna Key, "The Mech of Possibility"

Name: Luna Key

Gender: Female

Age: 27

Species: PSY Android

Height: 180 cm

Weight: 110 kg

Skin Color: Extremely pale, like albinism

Hair Color: White like albinism

Eye Color: White

Occupation: ‘Ace Pilot’ of the PSY Collective

Home Planet: PSY Colony 214

An Android created for the purpose of military use.  After her older brother left the army and disappeared when she was 8, she would eventually take his place as a candidate for Ace Pilot. Enlisted at the age of 12, she would gain the right to pilot a Psyren after three months of training. Eventually, she would fall in love with Elfei Heros, the then Ace Pilot. Only for him to be killed in the final battle of the 2nd IGF and PSY War.

Now the current Ace Pilot, she carries many heavy burdens on her shoulders. She pilots ‘The Astra’, the most technologically advanced Psyren the Collective has ever created. And a galactic threat in its own right. While abrasive and riddled with regrets, she is amicable once one gets to know her. And despite having grown from a simple soldier to a far more well-rounded and expressive being, she often finds herself stuck in the past. Many speculate she has entered Ultima Arena for either political reasons or to gain a means of revenge against the IGF. But in truth, it is something far more personal than that.

Ultima Arena Fighter 6: Ophelia Nox, "The Void Mistress"

Name: Ophelia Nox

Gender: Female

Age: 330

Species: Celestial

Height: 173 cm

Weight: 68 kg

Skin Color: Purple, almost black. Semitransparent

Hair Color: Purple

Eye Color: Black sclera with pink irises

Occupation: Head of the Nox Family, girlboss (according to her)

Home Planet: Technically none, regularly moves around to avoid authorities

There are innumerable criminals in the universe. But it is rare to find one as infamous as Ophelia Nox. Celestials have a knack for rift Ultima (think wormholes, portals, etc.), and she is a master of it. If you need something sent somewhere, she’s your woman. Inheriting the position of “Head” of the Nox Family some 300 years ago, she has built herself a criminal empire specialized in transporting illegal goods through her complex rift system. Many an IGF Enforcer have been sent after her, and she has almost always escaped. And when escape isn’t an option, the Enforcer’s death was an inevitability.

She acts like a diva, but tends to play up the part. She can be strangely down to earth outside of business. A bit flirty to everyone, and can be a good conversationalist no matter who she’s with. Just as long as one makes sure to not get on her bad side. In work, she’s ruthlessly pragmatic and intends to get whatever job she’s hired for done well and within good time. Her fighting style is a mix of Taekwondo and Kickboxing. But she has plenty of other tricks hidden.

Theories and analysis regarding Victor Stein, "The Massacre"

Wall of shame note: my stupid didn't got the obvious Frankenstein wordplay 😭 (in my defense however I didn't knew his name was Victor however) so please consider this fact while reading.

Since I never did any analysis about Ascendant Fist, I thought it's time to finally do an analysis on the work of the most evil man ever, Matthew the Taxman.

So, without further ado, let's dissect this stinky chud...

#Etymology: European Union

Things are relatively simple here, Victor is a Latin name meaning conqueror and, well, victor, while Stein is German for stone/rock.

Massacre is kind of self-evident, too. It either means the brutal slaughter of a group or a crushing defeat.

An interesting thing is that he himself is British, which makes his name and epithet from 3 different places. I'll delve into implications of this later.

#Appearance: Rock Hard Gladiator

He looks like his name.

He's a big, muscular man with a stone cold face.

His hair is relatively short and kinda unremarkable, while his clothing at the banquet is more interesting as it seems like he's wearing a tracksuit in the middle of the banquet, which might most likely suggest that 1: he doesn't care 2: he didn't had better clothing 3: he didn't knew what to do. But we'll talk about his personality in the next part...

#Personality: An Abomination of Desolation

For a man named Massacre, Victor looks calm. Almost too calm, like a tranquil calamity, an abandoned storage of gunpowder that is ready to explode.

This is evident in his background story. Normally, he seems to keep it himself but will lash out when things aren't pretty. It's almost like he's a beast with a really loose chain, and his aura certainly looks foul.

But he doesn't seem to be antisocial, as we see him interact with Scorched Earth in a relatively normal manner, albeit a bit coldly.

But his dialogs with Scorched Earth reveal something interesting, as Scorched Earth suggests him maybe he can make a new friend, suggesting that 1: he and Scorched Earth are acquaintances if not friends (There's a good chance that Scorched Earth was the "relative" who invited him to the tournament due to this) 2: He's somewhat withdrawn and doesn't really interact with others much. But again, this doesn't mean he's antisocial as we'll discuss his condition below.

While at first glance, it might look like he has psychopathy, I think it doesn't fit him that well due to his violent outbursts, which are far from calculated moves of a psychopath. Sociopathy or antisocial personality disorder is a better candidate, but Victor seems almost too withdrawn and it doesn't look like habitually exploits and manipulates everyone around him or that he lacks remorse and sense of responsibility from his withdrawal in clinic. Also, he doesn't get violent when he realizes Two Headed Snakes and his group are looking at him or when he sees something interesting.

I think there are better candidates here, the IED or Intermittent Explosive Disorder, a mental disorder that causes violent outbursts in an otherwise normal individual. This also fits his appearance in his profile, too, as it feels like eyes are consumed by his emotions. But this disorder doesn't explain his withdrawn behavior, so we need something else. It can also explain his epithet, as in an instant he becomes death, destroyer of worlds and even if he doesn't kill you, he can surely maim and crush you.

While his records portray him as a normal individual prior to the bar incident, it seems like either he mentally deteriorates more and more as time passes, and he finally gives up on treatment altogether or that his experience made an existing condition worse. Whatever was that, it seemed like he became more and more withdrawn. I think we can attribute such behavior to a certain disorder: major depressive disorder, or MDD. After all, MMD is the most prevalent psychiatric disorder in both the loneliness and social isolation according to this paper. It seems like at some point, he gave up and withdrew from others (and effects of it are still present with how carelessly he dress) until he was given a purpose in the form of The Leap Year Tournament. But what was that, we'll discuss it later.

#Story: A Lone Man Journey Feat Super Asian Bros

I usually don't do this section and spread story parts throughout other parts, but since Ascendant Fist is story heavy and we've some material that doesn't fit in other parts, I decided to give story a separate section.

The first time we're introduced to The Massacre, it's by a group of 3 East Asian fighters who are looking for "others like themselves." There, Two Headed Snake sees him and wishes that he's one of "them," but thung is, Victor doesn't care about them and instead has ryes on someone else, who's most likely The Kraken.

Let's start with the group first.

It's comprised of Two Headed Snake, Hidden Dragon, and Sleeping Giant, and all of who are East Asian (first two are Chinese while the third one is Mongolian, an ethnicity that is closely related to Chinese especially after Qing dynasty)

On their introductory page, Hidden Dragon says something interesting. He says they've already found one of themselves, and they shouldn't bloat their forces anymore. But this another of themselves isn't Victor, as he's mentioned later by Two Headed Snake, but if we understand who that is, we can uncover something bizzare about Victor.

The biggest thing these 3 men have in common is their East Asian ancestry. So we should look for other people with East Asian ethnicity, and we indeed can find one. We have Crouching Tiger, another Chinese fighter whose name is associated with Hidden Dragon is Chinese mythology.

So if we follow the pattern here, we reach a certain conclusion that despite his name and birthplace, Victor is at least partially East Asian, and the group at least initially tried to absorb other East Asian fighters into their union.

Now about the man who piqued the interest of Victor

Unfortunately for us, who the person was has been left a little vague, but it's most likely The Kraken due to him being shown next panel.

It also makes narrative sense. The Kraken is seemingly a vigilante who hunts pirates and evil people, and for a prisoner with mental issues, he's some special. He can be the judge, jury, executioner, redeemer, or a victim to be humiliated in a clash of ideologies. If I had to make a blind guess I would've said that the reason Victor is interested in The Kraken is that he, at least subconsciously, thinks that he's opposed to him in some way and can either redeem him, bring him to justice or end his misery.

The Kraken also has an interesting monolog too, which is when he sees (or maybe just senses, since his eyes look weird and he could be blind) someone which makes him say what a foul entity.

Now while we can assume it was Victor, it's also really likely that it was Hell's Henchman, another fighter revealed in a few panels later; and if this is the case, it suggests that Victor is not evil enough to be considered a target by The Kraken. In any case, both of them are in the same left side of brackets, and if capable, they might face off in semi finals.

#Symbolism: A Heart Of (mostly) Stone

In many ways, Victor is like a marble statue of a Greek God, he is strong, cold, and stoic, just like his last name.

He's a man with something vile inside of him, something that made him to be conceived as a machine of destruction, something that made him lonely, and whatever this tournament has to offer is good enough for him to participate.

It can be a chance of redemption, something to put him down, a new purpose in his life manifested through fighting, a way to find his true self or something else, although all of the options I've mentioned can be true at the same time.

In the end, it all remains to be seen if Victor can emerge victorious from his stone wall enclosing him or not.

#Fighting Style, Martial Arts and Abilities:

Unfortunately we don't have much info here.

Victor is a large man, not gigantic strongman large but large in a raw, practical way; and he'll use this body to its absolute potential.

In his profile it's been said that he disfigured 2 out of 3 men he fought with while the drawing showed him reaching for something with consumed, empty eyes. From the pose which looks like head grab or a clinch pose, I assume he wanted to reach for the head; which might explain the disfigurement as if someone as large and strong as Victor get your face in his hands, he can surely squeeze it like rotten egg and tear it apart like tissue paper.

I feel like despite his hypothetical condition, he can still retain rational thinking, but it's not to stop him, it's for keeping him calm and helping him find a way to tear you apart more efficiently.

For his martial arts, I think a mere brawler would serve him well, especially with that record of his.

But if I had to pick something, I would say either Catch Wrestling or Shuai Jiao or perhaps even both due to his pose in his profile and connections below:

Both of them are well respected wrestling styles suitable for strong people. While Catch Wrestling is a style focusing mostly on holds and is native to his birth place, Shuai Jiao is a jacket wrestling style related to his hidden ethnicity and combining both with his size, strength and brutality is one hell of a combination.

There's a chance that he pull out some weird Chinese shit out his ass like a secret eagle claw style with the way he was described as someone disfiguring others, but tbh I find it unlikely.

And with that said, I think I'm done.

If you're still here and haven't passed out, I hope you enjoyed it!

I think I know who/what TSoBC is based on

Scourge's name and spree were most likely based on Clifford Olson, or "The Beast of British Columbia". Besides the name being incredibly similar, Clifford also had around the same number of victims (11). Clifford also strangled a lot of his victims (Even using a belt). However, I think Scourge's behavior, fighting style, eye obsession, and backstory were partly based on Billy Lenz from the 2006 remake of Black Christmas. Scourge's behavior mirrors Billy's, with them being quiet, brutal serial killers. Black Christmas also has a weird obsession with eyes, with Billy & Agnus often gouging them out and eyes being shown throughout the movie. Also, the backstory to Billy is rather similar to Scourge's, with a vile mother being the cause of all their problems. I'm not joking; they look shockingly similar. As for Scourge's brutal fighting style, Billy is insanely brutal with his killings, even cooking cookies out of his mother's flesh and eating them. Though I might be stretching it by comparing Scourge to Billy, I think it's fairly solid to say that at least his name and killing spree were based on Clifford Olson. If you don't think so, that's okay; I just wanted to share what I think Scourge is based on. (Also, I'm not trying to make light of Clifford's killings; I just thought they mirrored Scourge a lot)
