Financial Aid Issues
has anyone had issues with financial aid this summer or trouble contacting them? I’ve been mischarged and I’m currently missing scholarships. Been trying to contact them for a week and gotten nothing back.

Apartment
Hey all, I live in Kent, I’m a student at Kent state, I got a lease with college towers, unfortunately it’s not the place for me. They had given me a free upgrade, it’s an upgraded model single bedroom single bath. It has new appliances. It’s very close to the laundry room and has a balcony. It’s not the apartment for me as I’m looking for a two bedroom due to getting a partner and needing more space for two people. I can’t terminate the lease unless someone else would take the apartment over, and I’m trying to get it ended by August or September at the absolute latest in time for school.
Location is very very close to the university, rent is 900$, dm me if interested.
I want to play D&D again
I would love to maybe be able to find a group to play D&D with on campus. I tried to go to one of the D&D club meetings, but unfortunately a lot of those in attendance really fit the stereotypes often associated with those who play, ie: weirdo who doesn’t shower. I would love to find some people, especially other girls, who are looking to play but don’t want to in that sort of environment, hit me up if that’s you!
Sub-lease Apartment
Hello, I’m in urgent need of someone taking over my apartment it’s a 3x3 with 2 other girls( females only) and the Lease is from August 2026- July 2027 and the rent is 765 I know it’s on the high end sorry! It your wondering about utilities it varies between 30-80 at most. If someone is in urgent need of off campus housing and willing to pay the price please reach out to me , The reason I’m giving up this lease is due to fact i made a dumb decision of signing the lease with no back up plan and I’m really trying to get out of this situation along with having to still be my tuition down to zero it’s kind of a lot to take as one person I know you guys don’t need a life story but please if you are willing to pay please messages me !
Korb Room layout
Hi! Im going into my second year at KSU, and lived in Korb for my first (and now second) year. Last year, I had my bed bunked and my roomie had theirs down; I hated the layout because their desk was between the beds and id have to ask them to move constantly to get up and down from my bed 😭
I was wondering and hoping if someone here had a better Korb room layout (with photos possibly!!) that I can take inspo from :)
Thank you!!
Commuting tips?
Has anyone ever commuted to Kent from Cleveland for graduate school? Any tips to not burn out? Let me know if you did this with or without a grad assistantship since I know that can keep you on campus more often.
Starting during Spring Semester?? Help?
Hi!! Okay so I barely know what I'm doing, (which is why I'm asking about it on reddit), so please don't mind if I seem completely lost or dumb lolll
I have my application finished and ready to submit, but it only lets me select Fall 2026 as the term I plan to begin taking classes. I don't really want to start this Fall, and would much rather start in January/the start of the Spring semester.
So, three questions:
1: Is it possible to start in January? My mother went to Kent after graduating high school and is saying that I can, but a lot of time has passed since then ofc and I'm always anxious or confused about it even when she reassures me lmao
2: When should I submit my application if it is, in fact, possible to start in January?
3: If I do end up sending my application by the Fall 2026 deadline, is there a way to change/ask to change it so that I'm starting at a different time instead? Ex; Fall 2027?
Thank you!!
Uni edge apartment room swap ?
Is there anyone currently at edge that’s willing to swap me rooms with roommates that are okay with a cat? I currently have 4x4 style A apartment.
I just took over a lease for someone and there was a Miscommunication along the way and the roommates are not okay with my cat coming due to allergies. I don’t have anyone to take of him and don’t want to put him up for adoption :(
Anyone need off-campus housing?
Yo I know this is late, but my current roommate ditched out on me, so I'm a bit stranded here. Facebook and roommate finder websites are not working too well, so here I am.
Anyways, rent+utilities is around $600. It's like a 2-3 minute drive from campus. Bus route goes through here if u need it. No security deposit needed. It's 2 bed and 1 bath. Message me for more details.
Also, if ur reading this and can suggest me a good way to find roommates or just know someone, please let me know! I'll delete this post if I find someone. Ok thanks bye
How to get advice for my specific program
I'm currently enrolled in the Cybersecurity A.A.B program (fully online) and I would like to speak with someone knowledgable in the field about steps I should take toward finding an internship/ job by the time I finish my classes (end of Spring 2027).
However, my Flashline profile says I have no advisor assigned, and attempting to set up an appointment on Navigate only shows me general career advisors rather than people in my department. My "success team" tab is also empty.
I suppose I could email my professors and try to meet with them, but I was wondering if there are any resources I am unaware of that could provide specific internship or career advice by major. I'm also confused about the empty advisor slot--is it because my program is online?
Dunbar Hall Single Dorms
I’m an autistic second year student who’s going to Dunbar Hall but in a single dorm and I wanted to know the experiences with the dorm, hall, and size.
money
not sure if I’m freaking out but I found out my gap is around 3k after aid for tuition, Ik I’ll probably get the money but I’m stressing 🥹 (in hindsight Ik 3k isn’t a lot)
online summer courses
hi everyone! incoming nursing major here, trying to think ahead and plan my courses for the upcoming semesters. after my ap/ccp credits were applied i only have 2 kent core slots that i'll need to fill, but i don't want to take them in person because i'd rather fill the slots with courses for a minor. the courses i plant to take are music as a world phenomenon and intro to sociology. does anyone have experience taking these online in the summer? is it doable to take both next online next summer? if i only did 1 online it should probably be music since sociology is required for the BSN, but if anyone thinks it's possible to knock them both out online please let me know!
twinsburg living
hi everyone! i’m supposed to be going to the twinsburg academic center this fall semester, but i live quite a bit away from there and i don’t have a car so i can’t really make the commute. does anyone have any info on where i could look for roommates or, like, mega cheap apartments. renting a room would even suffice. thank you in advance <3
Fridge (and furniture) dimensions?
Does anyone know if there's a list of dimensions for the room furniture? Most importantly the fridge? I can't find anything other than room and mattress dimensions.
Question about accepting federal loans for 1 semester only
So I posted here last week about a problem I was having where I only wanted loans for 1 semester because I'm not taking any spring classes. The financial aid office told me to fill out the "Federal Direct Loan Change Request Form - Increase." I did that and it finally got back to me, but didn't fix the problem. The financial aid website is still offering me spring loans and won't let me do fall only. I contacted them again and now they're telling me to fill out the "Federal Direct Loan Change Request Form - Decrease." Is that really correct??? It sounds like they're just having me undo what they told me to do last time. It took them over a month to return the last form, so I'm worried that this will take another month but not actually fix my issue.
This decrease form also says "Do you have loans in an offered (OFRD) status? Do not complete this form. These loans should be accepted, reduced, or declined by the student via FlashLine." I haven't accepted the loans yet because I'm worried that if I do, I'll be on the hook for spring debt as well. Am I really supposed to accept all the loans and then ask for them to be reduced? I'm really hesitant to agree to debt that I don't need, but maybe that really is what they want me to do.
Has anyone been in this situation? How did you fix it?
