Who said the Sonet turbo petrol isn't efficient!

This is after a recent Chennai-Tirupati-Chennai trip with 3 people onboard, AC ON always, and speeds ranging from 80-100kmph. Filled up the tank with XP95 and the DTE is almost spot on! Cruise control was ON for ~60% of the highway drive. Peak efficiency was 20kmpl on the drive back, but it dropped down to 19kmpl once we entered Chennai and faced traffic.

Sonet vs 3XO

I’m confused between choosing the Mahindra 3XO AX5 AT Petrol and the Kia Sonet HTK(O)+ DCT petrol . Both are costing almost the same, but the 3XO offers more features at this price point.

I’d really appreciate some insights on the long-term ownership experience of the Kia Sonet DCT — especially regarding reliability, maintenance costs, real-world mileage, and overall long-term usage.

To add a few more details, my monthly running will be a maximum of around 600 km, with almost 90% of it in city traffic, so I’m not considering a diesel car.

I really like the looks and road presence of the Kia Sonet, but I’m a bit concerned about how the DCT gearbox will perform in long-term bumper-to-bumper traffic conditions.

On the other hand, I like the 3XO for its strong safety package and what seems to be a more reliable automatic transmission. However, my main concern there is mileage, since it comes with a 1.2L turbo petrol engine compared to the Sonet’s smaller 1.0L turbo petrol.

Sonet HTX Diesel 1.5 AT

Bought a Kia Sonet HTX Diesel in October 2025 — AMA after 6,000 km! 🚗
Clocked around 5k km till now and honestly, it’s been a great experience overall. Got it for ₹13.9L on-road in Pune.

A few quick thoughts:
Super comfortable for city + highway drives(suspension could’ve been better)
Diesel mileage has been pretty impressive
Features feel very VFM for the segment
And in Sports mode… this thing becomes an absolute pocket rocket 😭 The adrenaline is genuinely crazy for a compact SUV

Happy to answer any questions about anything related to the car.

Kia Sonet 1.0 Turbo DCT Allocation Delay - Anyone Else Facing This?

Booked a Kia Sonet 1.0 HTX Turbo DCT (Glacier White Pearl) around 3 weeks ago from a dealership in Maharashtra. We are doing finance through SBI and even the finance process itself took time, but now dealership says allocation is still not done.

Took multiple follow-ups with them and they said they checked Pune and other showrooms as well, but DCT variant is currently not available in stock anywhere they checked. They also mentioned they are checking from manufacturer side for allocation/chassis number.

Wanted to ask recent Kia buyers / Sonet owners:

- Are DCT variants currently facing long allocation delays?
- How much time did your allocation take?
- After chassis number allotment, how many days did delivery take?
- Is this normal currently for Sonet DCT?

Would appreciate genuine experiences.

DEF level is not reducing after 4k kilometres

Hello everyone,

I have a kia sonet htx 1.5D,

I topped up the car's urea in December , and the odometer was around 9.5k KMs, right now it is around 13.5k KMs,

But the DEF LEVEL in the instrument cluster is showing full only, I am using shell diesel some time power diesel,

I am driving on highways and cities both.

I have asked the service station and they said it is common and usage depends on driving style.

So my question is are you guys also facing similar usage of DEF, or how much urea does your sonet diesel consumes,

Also previously when I got my car it was 70% filled and only 25% got used up in the 9.5k KMs.

Please share your experience.

Retrofit Driving Modes?

I bought the Kia Sonet Diesel AT HTK+, it has almost everything I want but they removed the front parking sensors and Driving modes.

I am aware that you can get cruise control added from the company only, is there a way to add driving modes as well or alter the shifting parameters.

The car is a bit slow to shift because it wants to provide a kick in acc. But I really want faster shifts.

Kia Sonet HTK+ Diesel AT Ownership Queries From a Manual Driver - Enthusiast

Hey everyone,

I’m planning to book a Kia Sonet HTK+ Diesel Automatic (Torque Converter) soon and had a few doubts before finalizing.

Coming from years of driving manuals, this will be my first automatic car. I’m an enthusiast-oriented driver, so I wanted real owner opinions regarding:

• How engaging does the 1.5 Diesel TC feel for someone switching from manual?
• Does the gearbox feel responsive enough during spirited driving/highway overtakes?
• Any lag or lazy feeling in manual mode?
• How good/bad is the stock HTK+ sound system? Is it decent enough or does it badly need an upgrade?
• How is the driver seat comfort and driving position for long drives?
• Any regrets choosing the Diesel AT over manual/DCT?
• Is adding paddle shifters technically possible later through aftermarket/OEM swaps?

I’m planning to keep the car long-term and do an OEM+ style build with subtle upgrades, so I’d really appreciate honest ownership feedback from Sonet Diesel AT owners.

Thanks!

Extended warranty invoice

My dealer is not handing me over the extended warranty purchase invoice. And keep on giving excuses when i ask for invoice. But have sent me a certification mentioning that my warranty is extended for 4th and 5th year.

Is this some scam or they just don’t invoice ex warranty for customers and dealers keep that money in black. BTw ex warranty is including GST so ideally they should invoice it.

Anyone got such invoice for kia ex. Warranty ?????

Kia Sonet accessories.

I recently purchased a Kia Sonet HTK (O) variant, but it lacks few features: the rear split seats, center armrest, adjustable headrests, Fog lamps and LED headlights (it currently has halogens).

Is it possible to have these upgraded directly at the showroom? Specifically, I am interested in installing the rear split seat with an armrest and headrests, as well as upgrading to LED headlights and adding fog lamps. Please let me know if these options are available

Turbo dct Extended Warranty?

Planning to buy HTK O Turbo dct and wondering should I get the extended warranty for around ₹20k.
Please keep in mind that it will used 99% in city traffic and monthly running will be very low ~less than 200kms.
Used to own 2017 Brezza diesel manual and from the past 8-9 years it has only been used 20k kms.

Thinking of getting some after-market accesories. Any suggestions?

Got our Sonet HTK(O) in 2024. The car is running great and I am really satisfied with it.

However recently I've been thinking about getting some more quality of life accessories since it still lacks some modern features.

Some things I have in my mind are:

  1. ORVMs ( the side mirrors are not foldable by any button but only hand, they're only electrically adjustable)

  2. DRLs and White LED headlights ( was first thinking of only headlights as I've been traveling in and out of Delhi for quite sometime and I think a strong headlight pair would be good for the highways, and since the headlights would be changed, was also thinking for DRLs as they look cool asf)

  3. Steel door handles ( they look good and enhance the overall feel I Suppose)

Should I go ahead? What things would you guys suggest? Is there any major problem with getting these things? Any problems in warranty or insurance?

I'm still a newbie in these things so looking for some experienced opinions
