Vietnamese food
Does anyone know any restaurants that sell Pho or a restaurant that sells Vietnamese food in general in Kilkenny? I can’t find one for the life of me and I have to go up to waterford just to have it 🫠

Outdoor Security Camera Advice
Hi everyone, M24 (even though people say I look much younger like teen-ager) ,so I’m relatively new to Ireland (moved from Italy), and recently I had an unpleasant experience that I’m not really sure how to deal with.
There’s been a group of kids/teenagers around the area who seem to go around bothering people. Recently, I was out running in a public park when a group of them stopped me, started making fun of me and trying to provoke me for no apparent reason.
More recently, I noticed some of the same kind of behaviour around my home. Kids have been coming near the house, throwing things at cars and then running away. I’m concerned that it could eventually escalate into actual damage or become a recurring problem.
What would you do in my situation? Would you ignore it unless actual damage occurs, report it to the Gardaí, install cameras, or take another approach? Never happened such things to me in Italy ever.
I’m also thinking about installing an outdoor security camera mainly to protect my car and have clear evidence if anything happens again.
I’d appreciate recommendations for a good outdoor camera, ideally with:
- Good image quality, especially at night
- Reliable motion detection
- Recording when motion is detected
- Phone notifications
- Good coverage of the driveway/car
- Good weather resistance for Irish weather
- Local and/or cloud storage
- Ideally no expensive mandatory monthly subscription
If you have an outdoor camera that you’ve actually used in Ireland/UK weather, I’d be interested to hear what you recommend and what to avoid.
There’s a new business seemingly about to open in the centre of Kilkenny. They’ve obviously gone to a lot of effort to renovate the existing shopfront and have installed relatively attractive raised signage with their business name on it, but unfortunately seem to have cheapened it all by sticking a big, AI-looking logo over the main window and on a storefront sign.
Some of the newest shopfronts in the city didn’t even try to look presentable or keep in character with the city, but this one obviously tried and then (presumably unknowingly) shat the bed. And that’s bothersome.
Where’s the consultation? Can the council advise business owners on best practice? And where’s the enforcement when it comes to the blatant flouters?
It’s getting to the stage where you can’t even advise businesses to keep their shopfronts in character with the city, because the character of the city has been slowly eroded over recent years through a lack of enforcement, and crap is becoming the norm.
I can understand how difficult it must be to open and run a business, but I don’t think making a slightly better aesthetic choice with signage is going to put any business under. I really don’t want to start seeing business owners who mean well cheapen their brand either because they don’t know how tacky their AI designs look. And I really want to seeing action from the local authority. How far are we going to let it go?
Kilkenny Animated Festival has some anime events on its line up this year, both free and ticketed. Headliners including Naoka Yamada and Dylan Moran and there's a UK/IE premiere screening of Keeper of the Camphor Tree.
Free events include Cosplay Karaoke, a Zine Making workshop and Art Market in Billy Byrnes, but you've to book some of the free events like the Family Storytime with Annie Atkins. Cartoon Saloon are also doing a book signing at the Art Market on the Saturday! And later that night there's an animation pub quiz in Sullivans. The festival is on from 11-13th September
Imagine the thought process behind this. The entire city traffic is fucked with lanes narrowing on either end of the Dublin rd because they're pollinating a roundabout. Here's a suggestion; do it at night like every other country. Absolute dopes.
I got stuck for about 45 mins this morning between the traffic and roadworks on the ring road at the Carlow road roundabout, and the works going on at the roundabout in the Butts. If these two stop-go systems aren't removed by the end of the month when the schools are back, you may throw your hat at it trying to go into work of a morning.
The new barber shop that opened about 9 months ago on John street (identifiable by its two fuck off 💈s and ugly exterior) is genuinely terrible. Waited 2 hours in there with 2 people ahead of me in the queue and he got through one person before I said fuck this and got out of there even though I needed a haircut for tomorrow and it was the last one open in town .
He (the only worker I’ve ever seen in there)is mind bogglingly slow at cutting hair it is the most frustrating thing ever to watch fuck me my blood is boiling just thinking about it please don’t waste your time with it.
Pretty much anything chipper, Chinese, pizza, kebabs, burgers etc. Would be good to know what places people think are actually worth the money at the moment.
I recently ordered a Beef Szechuan with boiled rice and couldn’t believe how expensive it was, especially the price they were charging just for the boiled rice. Takeaways seem to have gotten seriously expensive.
Where would anyone recommend to order from and what would you recommend on getting there?
If someone is on the parade later on can you tell me if the chipper is open. Driving down from Dublin to have some parade chips but will go elsewhere if he's not Working today.
Anyone know what creche will be going in in Cluain Glasan or castle oaks estates?
Anyone recommend crèches in kilkenny city that are good to put you on a waiting list. No one answers phonecalls or emails. Struggling to find a place!
Hi, a micro sd card has been found in Easons Kilkenny. Does anyone know who owns it?
The condition of this gym has become really disappointing. A lot of the equipment is filthy and equipment is regularly out of order, which makes it difficult to get a proper workout.
The ladies’ toilets are also frequently left in an unacceptable condition — I’ve attached a photo showing just how bad they can be.
What makes this even more frustrating is that membership costs have increased, yet there has been no apparent improvement in the facilities. If anything, the overall standard seems to have declined.
For the price being charged, I would expect the equipment and facilities to be properly maintained, clean and in good working order.
Does anyone know of anywhere in Kilkenny that are selling the ISO 12312-2 certified solar eclipse glasses?
Like its just chocolate, drinks, vapes, taytos. There is no way in hell they can make a living. There all over the city. Are these money laundering places or whats going on. Theres another new one in market cross as well which i see is a huge store. I don't understand how they pay rent and sell that many bottles of coke and vapes to keep paying the rent.
Anyone know a courier that pick something up in Donegal - furniture
Is it really so hard to design a poster ?
Taco Ball to open in Paulstown
Pretty much the title. I went last night, it was a bit bizarre, well done nonetheless.
Has anyone noticed this lately that more limescale has gotten into the taps lately.
The kettle needs more descaling these, then it used to be before, there is more evidence on the shower doors too.
Am I making this up or has it really changed?
