My first 2011 for a stupid steal

My first 2011 for a stupid steal

Approximately 200 rounds and picked it up for $1400

Gotta find an SRO for it and throw a Magwell on it

Ammo recommendations zero rounds so far

What ammo is everyone using heard 124gr is the way to go especially for first 500 rounds any truth to this or is 115gr good

2k11 Target update

Few hundred rounds through it, absolutely in love. Got my dawson basepads, extended mag release, and red dirt trigger on it today. Ready for another range day! Thanks for all the help, the trigger and basepads were recommended in here somewhere and I'm definitely a big fan of them! Looking into a grip safety delete, anyone know where to look?

Magazine drops after first round

This happened a few times last night at practice, hand wasn't anywhere near the release (strong hand draw and fire man on man drill)

To be fair, I haven't cleaned this thing since I got it and am now at roughly 12k, I keep just throwing Hoppe's 9 on the railings etc.

I am new to 2011, do you really have to...actually clean stuff? Like the magazine release?

While I was waiting again for my next turn, while holstered, I worked it, hitting it, then seating mag click, hitting it, seating mag click, like 10 or 15 times and the next time I went up it was all good but now a little shy for my next USPSA so I'm going to use my backup 2k11 for next match.

TL:DR - Sorry if it's common knowledge, but does enough shit build up in the mag release to fuck it up and make the Mag drop after a round?

Edit: So I have two 2k11 pros, so looked at my Stainless vs Royal, I have shot my stainless a lot more than my Royal. It seems visually, that the magazine catch "nubbin" worn down a bit on the stainless vs my royal as far as I could see it wasn't a "travel" thing. So I guess this is a wear part so I have a couple coming from MJD.

EGW Ignition kit for 2k11

I’ve got a 2k11 I use for purely range/competition with quite a few rounds on the factory ignition components. I’m going to give an EGW ignition kit a try and I wanted to get a little feedback from those who have done it. Just want to get an idea of any improvements or drawbacks I might expect.

Trigger issues

Has anybody had any issues with the trigger on the 2k11 pro? Specifically, after firing a few shots, the gun will be in battery, and you have to squeeze the trigger with more pressure than normal? Or the hammer will not drop at all?

I just fired the first 100 rounds through it and it happened multiple times.

2K11 Pro Royal vs Pro Coyote

Could really use some input. I bought a Prodigy a few months ago and i feel like i jumped the gun a bit and would have gotten a Kimber instead but most of the stuff i was reading said the Prodigy was the best entry level 2011 to learn and get used to. Ive always enjoyed Kimber's, but I just got into the 2011 world. 3 days after I go the prodigy the grip module cracked in the mag well and that required me to send it back to Springfield for repair. I want to get a 2K11 but now I'm not sure which to get. I'm leaning more towards the coyote because it has the aluminum grip, but i prefer the royal in terms of looks but I'm more hesitant withe the MJD grip module. The prodigy has gotten me really gun shy on the grip module and I really don't want another repeat like the Prodigy. Springfield said it was an ammo issue and not a quality failure in the grip, but having the grip literally blast apart and send the back strap in into my palm doesn't make me any less nervous with a polymer grip. Any feedback on pros and cons of either grip would be greatly appreciated.

Edit to add- If anyone wants to see how the prodigy cracked, I have a picture on my page from posting it in the r/prodigy

2k11 plates

Just ordered my first 2k11 g4g guns has sweet deals btw. Does anyone know which models ship with c&h plates vs tag precision? If I receive a c&h will Kimber swap me for a tag precision?

Competition use - much difference between variants?

Hey gang - I'm looking to grab a 2k11 for uspsa competition, limited optics obviously. The price of the base dlc with the orange looking trigger is very attractive but I was wondering if the all black or the eclipse model for a $350 is "worth" it from a performance POV.

Do you feel like the slide cuts or magwell helps it shoot better? What about the grip?

Hey everyone. Does anyone know of the Everglades MRH will work with the Kimber 2K11 aluminum grip? Here’s a picture for reference for what I’m running. Appreciate the info. I’m about to get the DAA Flex if it doesn’t.

Anyone know where I can get a black barrel and stainless trigger?

Hope this is the right place, I’m looking to get an oem black 5in non ported/comped barrel and an oem stainless trigger to replace the bronze set that came on my OR model. Anyone have one they want to part with or know where I can find these? Thanks in advance!

Would anyone here like to see if Kimber will ever offer a 2K11 Pro 4.25 Non Comp in black?

I know that the black colorway is only available on the Pro Comp and the 5-inch full-size, and the picture above is the pro comp version, but I would very much like if Kimber will ever offer this colorway to the Pro non-comp. Im suprised they dont offer it in black, as black is the most common neutral colorway for a gun.

First Kimber Final Form

Not sighted yet but finally got my last bits for this fella. Holster should be coming soon so thats exciting. Eager to go zero it in and run some more boxes through it!

To all the olight haters, before you even give me the business. I have been using their products for about a decade and trust them with MY life. Buy what you like and trust and let others do the same. Speak your mind but don't be a dick about it please. We can have a rational discussion all day though. Nothing against surefire or trijicon, they're just not my cup of tea.

Please share your builds if you'd like, I'd love to see what everyone's getting into!

Grip Fitting Question

Hi all, I'm fairly new to the platform and hoping yall can point me in the right direction.

This is a Kimber 2K11 Comp that I installed a MJD Killmonger grip onto with the stock Kimber grip bushings. There is some front to back wobble in how the grip fits to the frame, where if I close the gap in the back of the grip, the front trigger guard nut hole isn't lined up. When I necessarily line up the front hole to install the nut, I get that gap in the back. I tried a bit of hand fitting but without a proper set of files and lacking experience I improved the fit maybe 10%.

The problem is that when I install the grip, I have the amount of gap shown in Pic #1. After a few mags that gap opens up wider as shown in pic #2. Pic #3 is there to show the overall fit.

My question is how do I solve this? First I thought it might just take more fitting, but now I am wondering if there is some play in the grip bushings that is allowing it to shift under recoil. Would getting the MJD bushing kit fix this? Please let me know your thoughts. I don't mind there being a bit of a gap, but the amount it settles on after shooting is too much.

2k11 5 inch vs pro 2k11 4.25 for edc

I was wondering your guy's experience carrying either or, I know the 5 inch is a long boy but curious if any of you guys do it? I have a phlster enigma so I feel like I could prob get away with the 5 inch. Since it's 300$ cheaper than the 4.25 pro models online.

And curious on people's carry experiences with the pro models. Thanks
