I've been working on my version of Kingdom for a year, and it already has a Steam page!

Hi everyone, I'm a Kingdom fan, and a year ago I decided to create a game inspired by the franchise called "Sovran's Crusade." It shifts from side-scrolling to a top-down perspective, with a greater emphasis on exploration and adventure while keeping the strategic elements that define the series.

The game is still in development, so the content shown in the trailer will continue to improve with more additions like enemies, towers, and units. Another element I haven't included yet is a cosmic horror component.

I hope to have a demo ready soon to share with you. If you'd like to support me, it would mean a lot if you could add the game to your Steam wishlist.

What do you think? What would you like to see in the game?

Advice needed!!

So I am on day 176 on Cursed difficulty, but I haven't started the last island... I've just finished destroying all of the portals on the other islands and it's just becoming winter...

So I feel like moving to the last island during winter would be a definite fail... So should I wait out Winter? Should I bring any particular hermits to the last island etc?

Based on the last couple of waves and blood moons etc I think I'm screwed anyway but I'm curious if anyone has any suggestions??

Hindsight I probably should've gone to the last island earlier just to get the upgrade and set up some basic defences but here we are!!

Was hoping to complete it with 1 reign but it's been bloody difficult!!

Kingdom completely inspired me to make my own game, but I wanted to fix the things I always wished the original had. What do you think?

Hey everyone!

Like many of you, I spent countless hours completely hooked on Kingdom. The minimalist strategy, the atmosphere, the tension... it absolutely blew my mind. In fact, it was the exact game that inspired me to start my journey as a developer and try to build something of my own.

However, as much as I love Kingdom, there were always a few things I wished I could change while playing. In my humble opinion, I felt the gameplay could benefit from more freedom and depth. So, I decided to build a 2D side-scrolling micro-strategy game with a dark comic style and traditional frame-by-frame animation, specifically designed to address those points:

  • No more fixed defenses: You can place your walls and towers wherever you want, giving you total freedom to design your kingdom's layout.
  • Traps: I added defense traps to give you more tactical options when facing night raids.
  • Unit control: Your units can now actively follow you or be assigned to patrol specific zones, instead of just standing around.
  • A narrative layer: I wanted the world to have a deeper story, so I integrated a rich lore and a narrative backdrop to give purpose to your survival.

Basically, I made the game that I, as a Kingdom fan, always wanted to play.

I’ve just released a free playable Demo on Steam because your feedback as veterans of this genre is the most valuable thing I could ask for. If you like the idea, you can test the demo and help a solo developer by following the Kickstarter page (I'll be launching a campaign soon just to fund the traditional art/animation).

Play the Free Demo on Steam: https://store.steampowered.com/app/4261970/VILLAIN__Path_of_the_Necromancer_Demo/
Follow the Kickstarter Page: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/694897001/villain-path-of-the-necromancer-steam-game

I would love to know if these features sound like something you'd want in a micro-strategy game! Thanks for reading!

Meus súditos me abandonaram

Eu já tinha enchido os barcos, mas na hora de zarpar, todo mundo saiu e eu viajei só com meu cachorro e os eremitas. Não entendi.
