Spearfishing on Koh Kood?

Anyone know what the deal is— is it legal or not? And I’m not interested in your opinion, I’m looking for genuine facts from folks who know. I’ve been to Koh kood many times and have always spearfished off the coasts, swimming out or taking a kayak a ways out and away from any other folks, spearfishing some smaller, non unique reef fish, and then returning to shore to cook them up at my place.
Recently someone told me this is illegal for foreigners and I’ll get in big trouble if caught.

I have a trip planned to Thailand for a month later this winter, I was planning on bringing my speargun but am not sure if it will be worth the bother now.

65cm, single band, basic speargun, nothing fancy or special or intense.

Question about trip duration: Koh Chang (10 nights) vs. Koh Kood (4 nights)

Hi everyone,

I have visited Thailand many times, but I have never been to Koh Chang or Koh Kood. I really love the vibe of islands like Koh Lanta and Koh Phangan, and I am looking for something similar.

I am planning my next trip and I am deciding between two different options. Could you give me your advice?

  1. Koh Chang: I am considering staying for 10 nights. Is 10 nights too long? Will I get bored, or does the island have the right energy to support a long, slow stay compared to the typical 3-4 night island-hopping visits?
  2. Koh Kood: I am planning to stay for 4 nights. Is this a good amount of time to truly enjoy the island, or would you recommend more or less?

I would love to hear your experiences and thoughts on these durations. Thank you!
