Class action against Koho

I know many are happy with Koho but there are also many clients who have been treated unfairly and sometimes completely illegally and have suffered consequences.

I was in the first group for a while but ended up in the second one.

Ombudsman has opened a case already but I've also spoken with a lawyer and after presenting all the evidence they agreed there's a strong case and they want to go ahead with a class action suit (Ontario Superior Court), once certified others can join of course but if anyone is interested now DM me and I'll share law firm details to get in touch and join the lawsuit.

Financial Ombudsman to fix an account issue

It really seems that the only way to get someone at Koho to fix an account issue they keep saying is getting fixed is to get Ombudsman involved. Receiving nearly instant replies with copy/paste responses is so frustrating.

Ombudsman it is then, and Koho is trying to get a federal banking license. These reports will not help

Victim of fraud

Quick question.

Why doesn't KOHO contact victims of fraud? They have crucial information that can help the fraud team, yet, they make a review before contacting them. Maybe it's me but it seems kinda backward.

Customer service answers email with AI generated text.

Great way to lose clients.

So disappointed need help !

So I recently filed a dispute for a charge of $343.53 which was initially a deposit and the clinic sent me a payment link to pay the deposit and then after that sent me a welcome email. No where on any of the 2 documents that I got said the payment was non refundable. KOHO sent me temporary credit for the amount and emailed me yesterday saying that the clinic showed them a contract that had my name on it but no signature just my name email address. That was the proof they are using to deny my dispute. I sent them proof and screenshots of my message to the clinic asking them to show me the contract they are claiming they sent me and they do not give me any answers. I’ve been using KOHO for a very long time but this outcome was so frustrating I think I rather not use the app anymore. They won’t give me any proper answers and are not willing to hear me out after I sent them proof they will not show me proof either. What do I do.

Koho is the best

Been banking with Koho past 7 months great bank amazingly quick at depositing payroll it’s good love too see these positive changes in banking came from CIBC big and good shift. Wish they had credit cards too but all cool. I have the cover but cc would be cooler bigger limits right. Honestly been part of the sub only few days I feel these toxic complaints are just lies. Straight up .

KOHO Account frozen, money gone.

I am a 69 year old senior who trusted KOHO with my account only to have my account frozen and all my money gone.

I have contacted them time and time again just for them to tell me there is nothing they can do for me.

They said that there was illegal activity on my account and that they don’t have to say what due to cardholder agreement blah blah blah, that they don’t have to say anything.

I am now unable to pay rent, buy groceries or any of my medications. No one at KOHO has been helpful in this matter.

With all bad posts about Koho I'll share a good one

Obviously majority of people will post after they had a bad experience, rarely after it was a good one.

I've signed up for Koho a long time ago, even though I mostly use 2 other (big 5) banks I still have and use Koho.

Over the years I had 2 issues similar to some recent posts but they were resolved.

  1. Sold a car and seller paid deposit to hold it until he could come get it. It was a large amount ($3k) and boa bank initially blocked etransfer but he got a certified check and paid in full when he came to get the car, etransfer was reversed. My account was locked for some reason. I've called and emailed customer service and it was fixed within 2 days.

  2. A year later I couldn't log in, emailed customer service and was told that CRA sent RTP letter to Koho. Odd because I definitely don't owe anything so I called CRA and they confirmed it but it was their error, somehow RTP was sent requesting payment for $0.00 After talking with CRA they faxed a letter to Koho and my account was restored that same day.

Mind you I had occasional issues with TD and RBC over the last 20 years so it happens with every bank, so never keep all your liquid funds in just one bank.

Calling TD/RBC would resolve issues but it would usually require multiple calls and branch wasn't able to do much because it's usually their back office that handles things.

One thing I like about Koho is email support, so no need to spend an hour or more on the phone.

There are many FIs available, just use the ones you like or can tolerate the best..but I'd say at least 2, never just one.

Another 24 hours unresolved

Hi r/koho

Please explain why I have now waited 24 hours for an answer of why my cover funds aren't spendable or withdrawals aren't working just 24 hours after regaining access to my account lock out of 38 days!

Many hours later she then canceled my cover subscription, great! Now maybe I could renew it and use those funds for a bill I specifically mentioned I needed to pay yesterday.

She then tells me afterwards, I'll have to pay the fee again. The fee I already paid for July for my inactive account or the fee I already paid for August you just cancelled? Pardon?

I kindly asked for the fee to be waived after she apologized for not explaining that would happen, after paying for it in July and Augusts still active payment.

Locked out for 38 days. 24 plus hours waiting for your staff to fix an internal issue.

As much as I appreciate you fixing the first issue being locked out, this is again unacceptable not even 24 hours later I'm waiting another 24 hours.

Might not seem like much to you, but it is to me.

Refund process

Hi everyone so I’m not sure what’s happening with Koho but usually when I’m receiving a refund, the money would hit my Koho account the next day. I got an email from SHEIN yesterday about an order that’s been refunded back to my Koho card and up til now I haven’t received the refund. A few weeks ago, Amazon said they refunded a small amount due to me over paying me import fees and I’ve yet to see that refund back in Koho. What is going on?

Unacceptable locking of my account by r/KOHO for over a month

An e transfer was deposited into my r/koho account on July 3rd. The sender has since asked their bank to recover those funds claiming they never sent the transfer. Now my account has been inaccessible for 38 days. 38 days without groceries, 38 days without gas. 38 days without financial security. My own money, my hard earned money is frozen well beyond the e transfer amount in question. This is unacceptable and irrational honestly.

I was asked to contact the sender and question why they want this money back.

So I did.

The sender denied ever asking their bank to retrieve the funds.

KOHO then asked for a statement from the sender's bank confirming the sender did not ask for the money back. The sender's bank complied.

KOHO stated very clearly once they get confirmation that there is no hold or no requirement to retrieve said funds from their bank they will unlock my account.

KOHO has yet to make my account accessible to me and explain why the delay in doing so.

The atrocious customer service I've received, or lack there of, in the past month I've been dealing with them is unacceptable. Even tho I pay for an everything plan which includes hell through their phone line, I've been hung up on a total of 4 times and told to exclusively email.

So I did.

To which each time I've sent a chat message, a few different 'people' with the same generic messages -

"Allow me to review your previous chat"

"I've stepped in for my colleague"

Nothing was getting resolved.

I've had to evacuate my town due to wild fires with limited resources. I have very little gas and almost no food left. This is turning into a life threatening situation KOHO. 38 days with uncertainty. 38 days with holding my money for something that doesn't exist in my eyes is fraud or at the very least theft.

I've seen a few posts having similar issues with KOHO and I figured I would warn anyone looking to get an account with KOHO to only use it as a secondary account given they've done this multiple times to multiple people.

So, I need answers u/KOHO\_Official but first I need my money immediately.

KOHO, I pay you for the top plan. Why does your app still look like a slot machine?

Everything plan member. I like the service. The cash back is great , the interest is good,The E sim is such a god sent, Cover has bailed me out. Please read the rest with that in mind.

I opened the app in front of a friend last week and felt embarrassed. Under my balance: a referral banner, a Cover promo, credit building, crypto. Bright tiles, dollar amounts, referral buttons. It looks like a mobile game asking me to buy gems. It does not look like somewhere I keep my money. Can we please get to option go get rid of the suggested for you tab and if I don’t use a feature, I don’t want a permanent ad for it. On my home screen
-Cover
-Credit building
-Crypto

Wealthsimple sells all the same stuff crypto, tax, spend, mortgages and they do use some of the same tactics, but they still manage to make the app look polished, and you can always dismiss the cards that show up on your home screen, and they don’t come back every single day. You go find the products when you want them. CIBC's app is boring, and I trust it more for exactly that reason. This isn't about having fewer features. It's about where you put them.

And here's the thing that actually annoys me: I'm on the most expensive plan. Everywhere else in consumer software, paying more is how you make the ads go away. Here I'm paying for the privilege of being upsold products I already pay for or already said no to.

The fix is not complicated:

- Let me customize the home screen
- When I dismiss something, keep it dismissed
- Put products in their own tab
- Stop marketing to people on the top tier

The feature request board has versions of this and it goes nowhere. So if you feel the same, comment — especially if you pay for a plan. Say which one. That's the only signal that tends to land.

Can anyone help to to understand if it’s a scam or not

I received this by email today and it looks great and the domaine seems legit but I’m still not sure if it’s real or if it’s an elaborate scam.
