Y’all I just read and listened to Korn’s “Daddy” and did some research. Let’s just say that…. It really is something crazy.

Here’s context in case anyone doesn’t know what I’m talking about:

During the recording of "Daddy" for Korn's 1994 self-titled debut album, frontman Jonathan Davis suffered a profound, unscripted emotional breakdown in the vocal booth. Producer Ross Robinson kept the tape rolling as Davis wept, sobbed, and screamed out his childhood trauma, capturing a raw breakdown that ended up unedited on the final track.

The Context and Meaning of the Song

The Subject Matter: Davis wrote "Daddy" about being sexually abused as a child by a family friend (not his father, though early rumors caused severe family strain) and the deep devastation of his parents refusing to believe him when he spoke out.
Entering the Studio: The band and Robinson knew the track carried heavy emotional weight. Robinson went into the booth, grabbed Davis by the arms, looked him in the eyes, and told him, "You know what to do," before hitting record.

The Breakdown and the Tape

Unaware it was Recorded: Davis completely lost emotional control, spiraling into genuine, painful sobbing and gasping at the end of the song. Davis later stated he had no idea the microphone and tape were still running, calling Robinson a prick at the time for keeping the machine going during such a private moment. Robinson let the physical tape roll off the reel until it naturally creaked to a halt.
Band Reaction: Guitarist Brian "Head" Welch recalled that the moment was so surreal and intense that his brain initially refused to accept it as real, causing him to nervously laugh out loud on the recording (which can faintly be heard before the rest of the band told him to shut the fuck up).

Aftermath and Legacy

The Hidden Track: The end of the track features a bizarre, eerie hidden audio snippet of two people arguing about installing a car part on a Dodge Dart. Robinson reportedly found this tape in an abandoned house while renovating it and slapped it onto the end of the master reel.
Live Performances: Because the song required reliving severe trauma, Korn essentially refused to play "Daddy" live for nearly 20 years. They briefly broke that rule to perform the entire debut album during a 2015 anniversary tour, but Davis affirmed it took an immense toll and that he never wanted to perform it never again.

I can’t even imagine what this society has become. And lately, It’s even worse. Really needed courage and a solid pair of balls to play this live, even if it made him relive such trauma. Respect to Jon Davis.

Help finding an instrumental that freaking rocks

Hello
Listening to various full live shows on YT, I came across a little instrumental piece that sounds really freaking cool. It's probably an audio track by someone else to give the guys a small break before launching into the song "Cold". In 2 videos I've seen, the song is played right before "Cold".

It is at 44:25 of this video, https://youtu.be/iC4De-IpcxA?si=LW8YcniBWX_pGlnm&t=2666

Might anyone know what song that is? Is it Korn's? It doesn't matter.

Found my old Sick and Twisted tour shirt at my childhood home

Visited my parents recently at my childhood home. Found an old Korn tour shirt from when I went to the Sick and Twisted Tour in 2000. I was like 13 at the time, I went with my older cousin. It’s pretty faded and destroyed but I am glad to have it again!

Korn tickets

Hey! I’m trying to find 2 tickets for Korn in London at The O2 on November 4th, 2026.
I was hoping to get them as a birthday surprise for my girlfriend — we’re travelling to London around then, and Korn is one of her favourite bands. I’ve been trying to find tickets but the prices I’m seeing are absolutely insane, like €300+ each 💀
If anyone has any leads on where I could find reasonably priced tickets, I’d really appreciate it!

Korn commercial song

Hi korn have you ever considered teaming up with the Whirlpool corporation to advertise their line of home appliances such as dryers?

Picture this, Jonathan Davis comes home from tour and he pleasantly hears his kids in the backyard splish splashing around the swimming pool. He’s got a smile on his face until he sees the all the wet towels in the laundry hamper piling up. He smirks and we cut to the music video performance set up.

Korn starts to perform “dead bodies everywhere” to the audience of Jonathan Davis kids wearing swimsuits and googles (I assume he has 30-40 similar aged children) except the lyric has been changed to “wet towels everywhere”. This drives home Whirlpools commitment to make sure moms and dads everywhere have the appliance relationship that meets their family’s needs.

It’s a good idea thanks 🙏

JDevil if he was in South Park!!

I genuinely love drawing him in the art style of Korn in South Park.🖤💚 (yes, I have used Sheldon Cooper as a reference)

It’s interesting to me how Korn’s album art and general aesthetic is generally dark and dingy, and yet over the course of the mid/late 90’s, Jonathan outfits covered a vibrant spectrum of colors.
