Game after recent update?

Hello everyone,

If I am not mistaken Kristala recently underwent a big update addressing a lot of the problems it had. This is a game that I would really like to purchase, but the bugs and problems have kept me from doing so.

I am hoping to get some peoples opinions on how the game is running after this update, and if it runs well enough that you would recommend buying it.

Whether you recommend it or not, I would kindly ask you to give reasons why you lean towards the opinion you do.

Thank you all!

Just beat it last night.

As I said a few hours into first picking it up, I don't really like Souls-likes. Treating the world exploration like a puzzle is fun, but I sincerely dislike the combat design / philosophy, especially with bosses, and as someone who loves storied games I often find these lacking. So I've only ever tried a handful and never actually finished one, unless you count those Jedi games.

But Kristala peaked my interest as a game where you play as cats and have both stealth and parkour mechanics. Wasn't sure that'd make enough of a difference to me, but I decided it was worth a try.

Sure enough despite a few flaws, I definitely enjoyed this game more than any other Souls-like. Parkour being baked into the already fun exploration was definitely a nice touch, and I liked that stealth was often encouraged in place of trying to hack and slash hoards of enemies. Also, giant spiders that didn't trigger my arachnophobia. I don't know how the hell the devs did it, but they did.

A couple bosses were still too tedious for my taste, and a couple others bugged out and just let me slap them to death, either way I was disappointed I couldn't try to sneak attack any of them when I went down the assassin route.

But somehow I got through all of that (yes even Samwise right before that update hit) and actually beat my first Souls game ever. And not even the easiest difficulty, I stayed in the middle one, so that's a yippee I guess.

Ending the game felt a little anticlimactic though. Idk if there's more than one ending based on remembering to do everything else first or not, but what I got felt rushed and unsatisfying. But I'm aware that the game is gonna grow some more, hopefully new content will end better. And yes, I'm looking forward to playing this game again when that arrives.

I can't decide if this is a game to recommend in its current stats though, seeing some of the other recent posts on this sub it feels like I got incredibly lucky with which area I was at during each patch. Hearing that newer players are getting hard-locked in certain areas really isn't encouraging to promote the game right now, and its concerning thinking that this could be one of those games where *every* fix breaks something else every time. Hopefully that's not the case and this game can actually grow a community, cuz it absolutely deserves it.

Lever in Sephael

I'm stuck at this part. I've already pulled every lever I could find and opened all the doors that were closed, but I just can't progress. I have a lever in my inventory, but I can't place it in the slot where it seems to belong. I've already left the area, restarted the game, and revisited other locations to reload everything, but nothing worked. Does anyone know what I'm supposed to do here?

Hard locked bug?? Nothing to progress with zazagrul either

So I have the blister bulb, I made another post as well. Cannot do anything with zazagrul either, quest is stuck

Alright, where is it

There's baby crying all over the place that doesn't even feel like it's pointing in one direction, but it feels loudest in this general vicinity right here.

Is it even a real entity to rescue or some kind of weird ambience.

Stuck after blister bulb, help please!

So I watched some videos on YouTube, after exploring the grave yard and getting the blister bulb you’re supposed to go back and speak to zazagrul. everything is done with that quest except “help zazagrul find a cure to the corruption“ as well as “progress zazagruls questline”

last part I completed was “explore the graveyard” (crossed out)

when I speak to zuzulgrub there’s nothing I can do, just about “hira, lophi, curse“ and “leave”. I cannot put anything else into the pot either.

thanks in advance!

so digging deeper it might seem like my game is hard locked, I really hope not, that’s a few wasted hours right there if so

Bro, Byaslag might actually be worse than Samwise 😭

Like how man? Dude chews through my balance faster than piranhas smoking crack at a Taco Bell off a California highway, while his recovers faster than I can finish a god damn healing animation.

What is actually the strat here?

Alright, next question

What the hell is this material, and how have I not found a single one this entire playthrough?

Confused🤔

First of all, I wanted to say, I love the community for this game! Secondly i'm confused were to go..... The quest tells me to return to the caves. But what caves?

Shaders each time game loads up??

I hope this is on the devs radar. A few games had this issue at launch, stalker 2 comes to mind. It definitely isn’t the norm though

Loving the game so far!

A note on "true damage"

It wasn't until my 4th playthrough that I noticed the Noble claws saying the weapon skill deals true damage. I was wondering what that was. Then I picked up the archivist claws and they said the same thing. Asked one of the devs and apparently this means the weapon skill ignores all enemy defenses. I thought that was pretty sweet!

Oh yeah, forgot to ask about this, did I just miss out from not standing on the mushroom before growing it or what?

Where is Nisargan Mezulah IV?

It's not behind that blood ward in Nisar, is it?

Already finished Ancient Power for Myr and was about to go into Tandar when I decided to double check that I didn't have any outstanding quests left, saw that I never completed AP for Nisar.

I've looped around the region more times than I can count, I don't imagine I'd find it on my own by now when I haven't already.

Different spell trees?

Am I really locked into poison only or “Nature” spells if I chose Niagara at the start? Or is there a way to gain different types of spells the more I play?
