I'm considering to get an LA FITNESS membership.

Hey, y'all!

I've been meaning to go to the gym! I used to be a competitive swimmer and now I want to get back into swimming!

I'm seriously considering the LA Fitness membership for the pool, hot tub, sauna and free classes since I also love Pilates and aquafit which I used to do but then I stopped due to work.

I went to the one at Don Mills the other day and the water was nasty. The one at Don Mills, doesn't have a hot tub or a sauna but it was closest to my boyfriend which I wanted to make it a fun little thing with him.

I'm not sure if it's just the Donmills one that's nasty or all of them are like that. (I live in Ontario)

What are your honest opinions on LA FITNESS? Is it worth it?

AMA. Former ops manager at a high traffic club for 5 years. I will answer from my experience truthfully even if you don't like the answer

I also worked our member services line for 4 years (the one you call for complaints, billing issues etc) so throw your situation my way and I'll give you suggestions if I'm able too

How much does a club need to bill every month....

I had a conversation yesterday regarding a local club that recently closed. From my persepctive, the club appeared to be busy enough with a steady flow of members. I was informed that the monthly billing was a mere $120,000

I dont know what the goal is for a club to be considered successful, does anyone know?

I also learned that the new club studios (at least at one club) has a monthly billing of $300,000! If this is the case, I completely understand why LAF is moving in the direction they are. More profits.

Are the $30-50 dollar a month memberships soon to be a thing of the past? As costs to operate continue to rise, most membershios contracts are stagnant, right? I know Lifetime and Equinox raise existing members rates periodically, but does LAF?

Feel free to chime in. I'd like to learn more.....

They forged my signature to charge me more.

I honestly never thought I would have to make a post like this, but after what happened to us at LA Fitness in West Orange, NJ, I feel like people NEED to know.

My fiancé and I specifically signed up for the most basic membership available. We were VERY clear that we did not want additional programs, amenities, or services. On our original membership paperwork, none of the additional amenities or programs were even checked off.

Yet somehow, we started being charged extra every month for Pilates.

We finally got copies of the documents today and immediately noticed something fishy:

The signature on the Pilates paperwork was NOT my signature.

We contacted LA Fitness corporate, and we were told that the signature on the Pilates paperwork did not match the signature on our original membership documents.

We called an officer to the gym because, at that point, we wanted this documented and wanted answers.

The employee who signed the Pilates paperwork then claimed that he had received authorization to do so because we had supposedly called the gym and requested the additional services.

WE DID NOT.

We never called them asking for Pilates. We never authorized this. We never requested additional services. In fact, we explicitly told them when we signed up that we wanted ONLY the basic membership and nothing extra.

And now we have paperwork containing a signature that isn't mine, attached to services we never requested, resulting in additional monthly charges.

That's not a simple misunderstanding. That's not a sales pitch that we forgot about.

My name and signature were FORGED on paperwork that I did not sign or agree too.

And that's only part of the mess.

We also have a joint account and requested a membership freeze. They froze my fiancé's membership but somehow continued charging mine. Then, when my fiancé went into the gym to cancel BOTH memberships, he was told they had been canceled.

They weren't.

Corporate later confirmed they were still active.

At this point, we've had enough.

- CHECK YOUR LA FITNESS ACCOUNT.

- Get copies of EVERYTHING you signed.

- Compare the paperwork to what you're actually being charged for.

- Look for services, amenities, Pilates, training, or other programs you never requested.

- Don't assume that because an employee tells you something was canceled or changed, it actually was. Get it in writing.

We are documenting everything, pursuing refunds for the charges we did not authorize, and taking this through the appropriate channels.

I'm posting this because I don't want someone else to discover months from now that they're paying for something they never agreed to — or worse, find paperwork with their name attached to a signature they never made.

If you're an LA Fitness member, CHECK YOUR PAPERWORK AND YOUR BANK STATEMENTS.

LA Fitness: We expect answers, documentation, and our money back.

Desperately need to cancel, but site isn’t working on any device or network

Hi, need to cancel badly. I don’t live anywhere near an LA Fitness anymore (new country).

The site won‘t load on any device or network I’ve tried, not even the home page.

What should I do? Help is greatly appreciated, thank you!

New to Sherman Oaks — LA Fitness Tarzana vs EOS Northridge, thoughts?

Recently moved to Sherman Oaks and looking for a gym. Tried the 24 Hour Fitness on Ventura/Galleria but the locker room smell was a dealbreaker for me.

Now deciding between LA Fitness Signature in Tarzana or EOS Fitness in Northridge. Anyone been to either? How’s the equipment, crowd level, and cleanliness?

Also — does anyone know if either of these has a sauna or jacuzzi? That’d be a nice bonus.

Bonus: if anyone in the area wants a workout buddy, I’m down, including hitting a Zumba class once a week. Feel free to comment or DM!

Anyone interested in sharing a Life Time membership? Prudential Boston

Hi everyone! I’m currently a member at Life Time and have an open spot for a second adult on my plan. Instead of renewing solo, I’m seeing if there's anyone looking to join who wants to team up. And save some $!

If you’re interested, shoot me a DM! We can verify the rules and make sure it’s a good fit for both of us before moving forward.

Changing my membership plan versus canceling and rejoining

Hi all! I have a membership and I opted in to the membership where you have a single location and are allowed to bring one guest each visit. I would like to change to the membership where I can go to any LA Fitness location + no guests.

I was told that I need to cancel my original membership and rejoin under the new terms. That seems really unfriendly to the guest. Can anyone give me advice on how I might get around this. I would rather just switch to a different membership type and not have to start the contract all over again.

Demand Letter received after not paying of 4 months but didn’t use the gym once

Received a demand letter from my Gym membership that I didn’t use even once. I paid initial and membership fee for a month and didn’t use or go to the gym once.

Do I need to worry about the demand letter that was sent to me via email?

No AC…in Santa Clarita, CA

Talked to an area manager…she has no idea what is going on. How are you area manager and not know what is going on? What a joke!

Location : newhall ranch road location

The gym never has AC…it is always breaking.

They either say it’s fixed or it will be fixed.

They say we can’t control it or let corporate know.

I guess they don’t care if someone passes out.

Still not fixed. It’s been out for over a week.

Don’t tell me you’re really complaining about AC…live out here when it’s over 100 and then try going to a hot gym.

Charity Tent Outside My Gym

Past week there's been this tent outside my LA Fitness asking people to donate. They stop me every single time I'm about to enter the gym and not only that, but when I leave as well. I don't want to donate and I keep having to say I'm not interested. Today the girl outside was like "you could've just said no". When I go to the gym, it's the one hour I get to myself, and having to consider these organizations aggressively asking me to donate, it ruins that little time I get. I usually don't have a problem with things like this but it's been a whole week, and usually they don't try and stop every single person they see. Does anybody know how long this is going to last?

Question About Footwear at LA Fitness

What are the rules on footwear in the gym? I normally work out in air max or sambas but I’ve seen everything from slippers to birk Arizonas to flip flops without socks to just socks to sometimes just barefoot. Is there a rule on this? I’d assume only closed toe shoes but it seems only half the people at my gym follow that.

So like do you fuck with me or nah

Idk if anyone else goes through this but I found it pretty funny.

Whenever I go in or out of the gym, the employee ethier say hi/bye or just straight up act like I dont exist.

This isn't just one la fitness or one employee in particular. The same employee who say hello today won't say it tomorrow.

The one that ignored my ass as I walked out yesterday waves at me today.

This first 5 seconds as I walk in or out have become extremely stressful.

I am tired of being pulled from obscurity to being a minor character in someone else's day.

Please for the love of God, ethier forget me or know me!!!!

Can’t get bench to go from upright to laying flat

I went to use the wheeled adjustable bench and I can’t get it to go from the sitting upright position to the laying down flat position.

I pulled the pin all the way out and tried wiggling it, but it just wouldn’t come down
