My only Concern About the LEGO Mario Minifigures

Hey everyone!

Now that we finally have the set names and prices for the upcoming LEGO Super Mario January 2027 wave, I’m really hyped — especially because we’re finally getting actual minifigures!

However, there’s one thing that still worries me. I’m also a Sonic fan (although not nearly as much as Mario), and one thing that has always bothered me about the LEGO Sonic sets is the lack of minifigures. Sure, LEGO has started adding more figures to some newer sets, but most Sonic sets still seem to have only around 2–4 figures at most.

We’ve seen something similar with LEGO Animal Crossing, so I honestly don’t expect Mario to be much different.

For example, with the $100 Bowser’s Castle set, I could easily see it coming with only 2, maybe 3 minifigures. And honestly, that would feel pretty disappointing for a $100 set.

That lack of minifigures has actually always been one of the main reasons why I never bought any of the Sonic sets, or even any of the Animal Crossing sets. I just didn’t feel like I was getting enough characters for the price.

That being said, even if LEGO does the same thing with Mario, it wouldn’t stop me from buying the sets. Mario is simply a huge part of my childhood, so I’m going to be excited about these sets either way.

Of course, I could be completely wrong, and maybe we’ll actually get 5–6 minifigures in some of these sets. I really hope so! But based on LEGO’s recent releases, I just can’t see that happening.

I’m still super excited that we’re finally getting Mario minifigures, but I definitely think LEGO could give us more.

What do you guys think? How many minifigures do you expect in the January 2027 Mario sets?
