LMD new york - Different timing for family applying with Anexo 1 + 3?

Hi again,

Another question about New York timing.

My parent applied for LMD with Anexo 1 and got the LitNac about 6 weeks later. I got mine (Anexo 3) a week after that.

It's now been another 6 weeks and my siblings (also Anexo 3, same family documents) are still waiting.

Is this normal to have such spread out timing for one family unit?

New York RMC inscripción processing time?

Has anyone done this recently? I'm wondering how long it normally takes to process the "alta de residente" after mailing in the paperwork.

LMD approved! Now a little confused on the RMC registration

Hi everyone! I received my Spanish birth certificate via email from the Houston, TX consulate two days ago, and am now in the process of getting everything together to complete my RMC registration. I am having some trouble with two things though, and would like help from anyone who may know what I can do for these things:

  1. The RMC registration guidelines say that I need to provide two proofs of address, and lists Driver's License (have that), service bills, rental agreements, and car insurance as valid proofs of residence, but I am currently living with my parents (I am post-grad, so not a minor, and will be moving out later this year - at which point I will update my address with the consulate) and all of these bills are in their names, not my own. The list of acceptable items for this was super short, and doesn't seem like credit card bills would count for it, but that is pretty much all I have that is actually in my name for this address. Does anyone know if credit card bills will work for secondary proof of residence, or what I could use for this if not? I emailed the consulate, but have no idea if they will respond or not, based on what I have seen online about other people's experiences with emailing the consulate with questions.

  2. The RMC registration also requires "Documentation proving your immigration status in the United States: Visa, residence card, work permit, ESTA." but I don't know what to include in my registration application for this because I am a born U.S.A citizen and thus do not have any visas, work permits, ESTA, or residence cards for the US (unless residence cards would include my driver's license?). Does anyone know what I should be submitting for this part of the requirements??

Also, just including this information for anyone who is looking for timelines on applications from Houston:

  • My application appointment was on June 9, 2025 at the Houston Spanish Consulate (I was born in Houston and am living here, so my application did not have to be sent out to another consulate from there), and they told me it would be 8-10 months before my application was accepted/denied
  • Received my Spanish birth certificate by email on May 30, 2026 (just barely short of a year after my application appointment)
  • I applied under Annex 1, and my sister applied with me (they let us do our application appointment together and we each received our birth certificates within 10 minutes of each other via email the same day)

Can I get my Spanish passport in Spain if my citizenship is approved just before my trip?

I’m currently waiting for my Spanish citizenship through the Ley de Memoria Democrática. I applied through the Spanish Consulate in Monterrey, Mexico.

If my citizenship gets approved just before I travel to Spain, would I be able to apply for my first Spanish passport while I’m in Spain, or would I have to get it through the consulate in Monterrey first?

Has anyone been in a similar situation or knows how this works?

Thanks!

Miami LMD Credentials

Hello all,

We applied via Anexos 1&3 June 30th of last year (2025) and we have a Justificante but we haven't heard back at all. We're both from Puerto Rico, live in the State of Florida and have not received anything at all yet. We also have hired a lawyer in Madrid since the beginning of the process to assure we have done everything right to which he has said we have.

In other words, I'm hoping to hear from those plugged into the process what the approximate timing would be so we can schedule an appointment?

Thanks!
