Just checked my 10-year Spotify stats and my all-time #1 song actually left me speechless.
I’ve had my Spotify account for a solid 10 years now, so I decided to look at my "Your All-Time Top Songs" playlist today. I was fully expecting my recent heavy rotations to dominate, like, I was ready to see BINI, Taylor Swift, or maybe Twice sitting at the very top. I saw Miley, Rihanna, and IVE holding down the top 5, which totally checked out.
But then I looked at the undisputed #1 spot.
LOONA – Butterfly (723 listens)
I genuinely had to stare at my screen for a minute. I haven't actively played this song in years. It’s been totally buried under all the new releases, shifting biases, and everyday life. But seeing it sitting there at the absolute top of a whole decade of listening history hit me so hard.
It made me realize that Butterfly wasn't just a song I liked; it was literally my life anthem. I put my earphones in and played it today for the first time in forever, and hearing that ethereal intro again gave me straight-up chills.
I'll say it and I'll defend it: no cap, Butterfly is the most beautiful K-pop song in existence. The choreography, the message, the gravity-defying chorus, it's pure art.
It’s crazy how a song you haven't thought about in years can still hold the crown just because of how much it carried you back in the day. The math doesn't lie, I guess!
