Muscadine Grapes or scuppernongs - where to buy or u-pick

Hi friends, NOLA-native but been away for awhile. Where can I purchase muscadine or scuppernongs in the area? Willing to drive 1-2 hours to MS or northshore or pick up on the way back on I-10 W. Thanks!

Friends

I’m a woman in my early 30s and I’ve had such a hard time making friends in town. I’m not religious and not maga or conservative, so that really limits me around here. I’m also not into the party scene, nor do I go out very often. I’m pregnant at the moment too. I just want some gal pals that I could maybe do a book club with or get together to play board games, mess around with tarot, or start a farm on Stardew valley. I’d like friends that would meet up with me at prien lake park and we could walk our dogs together and chat. Mom friends are great too. Any suggestions on making friends I might align with??

DWI Checkpoint

The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office is participating in the national crackdown on drunk driving with grant funding from the Louisiana Highway Safety Commission. CPSO will conduct a DWI checkpoint at an undisclosed location on Friday, July 3.

There's really no excuse these days with Uber and Lyft. It may seem expensive but trust me it's so much cheaper than getting a DWI or taking a life.

Does anyone in Lake Charles even know what the World Cup is lol?

Joking a little, but not really. Everyone in my orbit is oblivious to World Cup. Where the World Cup fans hang'n out???

Mint Mobile

Anyone use Mint Mobile in the area? I'm really tired of ATT and their money grabbing but want to see if anyone has tried their service in this area specifically before I jump ship.

Kayaking on a River

I’m new to town and really want to kayak down a river for 4th of July weekend. I have my own kayak, but I need suggestions for shuttle or rental companies to take me to and from the water. Also if people have river preferences that would be great. Not really looking to fish. Just swim and paddle down.

People that went to an event at the Lake Charles Civic Center, what did you go for and how was it?

Or could be what’s the most fun you had there

Social clubs or hangouts?

I can't work anymore due to disability but I miss the social aspect of it. I'm looking for clubs that aren't about partying or anywhere that has gatherings that anyone can join. I can't drink so I can't do painting with a twist

Where can I get free stuff for my birthday?

It's my birthday tomorrow and I'm not expecting anything, so I thought it might be nice to treat myself to some free items places are giving away on your birthday. Any ideas?

I think I’m trans and need help

I’m 20 and born a guy but recently I’ve started questioning it again. I want to go out to stores but I don’t have an eye for it and always find the least flattering things (and no one likes that 😔). I’ve never done makeup either and don’t know where to start. So I wanted to know if there’s any women in the area that would be willing to help me find clothes to help me with makeup? I just want to be pretty, I miss wearing a nice dress 🥲

Together, we can give every bottle a second life

The Problem
Every day, thousands of glass bottles in SWLA end up in landfills—not because they can’t be recycled, but because convenient recycling options are limited.
Glass is 100% recyclable and can be reused again and again, yet much of it is discarded as waste.

Our Solution
At GTA Recycling, we’re working to change that.
We’re building a local glass recycling network that makes it easy for residents and businesses to recycle glass waste. Instead of sending bottles to the landfill, we transform them into recycled aggregate and sand that can be used in construction, landscaping, infrastructure projects and jobs large or small.
When you recycle with us, you’re helping create a cleaner community while supporting a local business committed to finding practical uses for recycled glass.
We’re just getting started, and we’d love for you to be part of the journey.

Please join our pickup waitlist & someone will reach out within 24 hours with more information
