State park weddings

Hey all!
My best friend lives in the region north of Lake George near Gore Mountain. I live a few states away but am trying to help her in the wedding planning process as I am very type A and she is very type B,peas in a pod.
I am trying to help her look for a very rustic, laid back venue for around 100-120 guests.
My husband and I got married at a state park with roughly this headcount and it was a great experience!
Does anyone have any recommendations for day use areas in state parks or national forests that would be able to host a group this large or an event like this ? The DEC website is great but does not give a ton of info on day use areas.
Any help/advice/info is appreciated!
Thanks for reading 🙏🏻

Last minute Lake George vacay for the 4th! Where to stay?

I just found out I have a 4 DAY WEEKEND for the 4th and I’m so excited to go on a little adventure! Last minute lodging recommendations? I’m open to any suggestions, though would prefer something either sort of nice naturey or just with personality- I personally prefer to skip the big chains when possible, for a cute family b&b or something with a real vibe. In or near Lake George, July 2-5.
I realize with this being NEXT WEEK my options are going to be limited, but worth asking!! Many thanks!

Bachelorette Weekend Questions!

Hi all, I'm working on choosing my bachelorette destination for next summer so my sister and I can start planning and I'm looking for any thoughts on this idea:

  • A weekend in June or July 2027 - leaning towards July to ensure it's warm out
  • Staying at Sagamore Resort in Bolton Landing (8 person lodge room)
  • Friday: check in, hang out by the pool in the afternoon. Dinner at one of the Sagamore restaurants. Back to room to hang / play games
  • Saturday: early morning hike, brunch or lunch after, afternoon boat charter with a captain. Takeout/pizzas for dinner and then go out either in Lake George or get a car service and go to Saratoga

Would love any feedback or recommendations on this plan, or to hear how things went if you did your bachelor/bachelorette party here? For Saturday, we love live music and a fun lively bar scene but we're not looking for anything crazy. We can always do a car service and go out in Saratoga if that's worth it. We of course don't need the itinerary locked in yet, but I want to make sure we're on the right track before committing to booking the hotel

Family friendly

Looking for budget friendly hotels/restaurants and some kid friendly things to do with 6 and 3 year old! No boats, but we’ve done the arcade in previous years. And I think they’re too small for six flags yet. Anything else fun for this age? Of course the beaches.

Best family-friendly restaurants in Lake George and surrounding area

I am visiting Lake George soon and want to know if there are any restaurants that are better than others for families. I've seen prior posts on the best restaurants in the area, but many of those cost more money than I'd want to spend to eat with my kids and some of them appear too fancy to have kids menus. Are there better restaurants in the area that have kids menus? I'm happy to eat at a pub or a pizza place with good food. Please recommend the best restaurants for families on vacation! Thank you!

The guys rolling coal, I was the one who was confronting them in the other video, I got their pictures also

They were recording everyone they rolled coal at, threatened me, and looking for reactions. Volunteer Firefighter 19312 is the plate. This is so disgusting : r/LakeGeorge

D-bag owner/worker at shirt store

I believe it was this store, and I assume he owns more. I just wanted to vent about his absurd behavior.

My wife, son, and I were walking around and decided to see if there were any sweatshirts she liked. The guy came over and asked what size, we replied “not sure, just trying some on”. He mumbled something and went back to his phone. Not even 5 minutes later he comes back, asks again. I respond, “still trying to figure out what shirt and size”. He rudely says “if you listened to me before I could have told you where the sizes were”.

Ok then, we say screw it and leave, he’s clearly an asshole. As we leave he is literally staring at his phone and says “not gonna buy anything? Woooooow”. We ignored him and went to the next store. He quickly comes up behind and says “just so you know, all these shirts are the same here”. I snapped and told him if he wasn’t such an asshole we would have bought an overpriced shirt. He was so mad he started calling me a dick among other things in front of my kid and before storming off tells us we supposedly didn’t put shirts back where they belong…

Is this really the type of people running the stores in town? Why does the town allow so many of the same exact stores to be open like that? How many crappy non LG related souvenir shops do they need? Don’t forget about the multiple DILLIGAF places. I always thought it was a kid friendly place but then you have souvenir shops like that? I get most tourist places are the same or worse, but this interaction had me boiling.

First time - recommendations for family

Thinking about lake George for a family vacation. Would love all your recommendations!

Kids are 4 and 1 years old. Would like to bring our dog if we could. But not a deal breaker.

- All inclusive resorts or small cottages/airbnb?

- full access to lake, able to rent kayaks, etc.

- hiking trails

- easy drive/walk to town?

- restaurant recommendations

Any tips, suggestions, recommendations appreciated!

Great Escape

Grandkids are in town this weekend, how is the Great Escape looking under the new ownership? I know it had gotten pretty rundown, dirty and expensive under Six Flags.

Solo camping Lake George Battleground Campsites

I’m hoping to get away for a few days by myself and I’m wondering how safe the campsites are for a solo female.

I plan on walking everywhere so late nights are a definite.

I’m assuming it’s a campground full of families and children so I’m thinking it’s probably very safe.

Bachelorette Weekend

I am looking for transportation recommendations in the Lake George area. My maid of honor has a cabin in Huletts Landing, NY. I absolutely love it and am thinking of having my bachorlette weekend there. The only thing concerning me is the lack of night life in that area. I know there are bars closer to Lake George and Boltons Landing, but we are trying to avoid having to drive since we will all want to drink.

Also, if anyone has any boat rental companies that will take us on a ride where we don't have to drive that would be appreciated as well!
