Comedy is fun but...

Is just me or the writers didn't know what to do with the route? For a route called "comedy" there are not much jokes overall. The first half is serious most of the time where Takumi completes boring missions for the rest of the SDU, so instead of comedy feels like the "nothing happens" route. There is even an oddly serious scene where Eva cries since she can't remember anything and... why? This is called "comedy", make goofy and funny stuff, not this.

Even after the choices begin around day 50 and the jokes start, it feels very inconsistent. Some branches throws at you a lot of jokes like the "try to not laugh" or the "smartass syndrome", and others just do barely nothing and have thousand of free times, like the writers saying they run out of ideas for jokes.

I don't dislike the route, I appreciate the attempt of making something different and when the route is funny, it makes me laugh a lot, but I think the route could have been way funnier and have much better pacing, because when I'm not laughing, I just get inmediately bored because nothing is happening.

Here's my Nozomi cosplay!

I made a couple posts about this while I was working on it, but here's my final result! If you received a frog from me at Mississippi Comic Con, I hope you follow the advice I wrote on their butts and play 100 line!

When You’re Too Relatable

What if I told you there was a person, that couldn’t sleep, acted like an asshole to push people away, hated people who hid their intentions behind pleasantries, never avoids self gratification and valued people for their negative attributes?

Well shiiieeettt! I’d say I found my fucking match right there. Would I want to fix Rumi? Short answer no. Long answer fuck no. She’s perfect as she is: Flawed and strange. Perfectly relatable.

She’s trashy as fuck and her ability to embrace negativity makes her so uniquely beautiful to me.

I should state that I don’t think I’ve ever made a post glorifying one character. Even Kaede.

The >!fuck Kodaka, he killed Kaede!< is just a joke to me. The fact that no one is in on it but me, is why I keep doing it. Rumi’s flaws are what make her so relatable to me. The obnoxious exterior hiding away a vulnerable and caring person is just… you know. I know whats thats like.

What prompted this post, was that I realized there is like 3 Rumi art projects in the works. Rumi should have at least 6 completed art projects by the end of the year. I don’t think I’ve shown another character that much love in the last 6 years.

Alex G - Nintendo 64 - Rumi sits on the floor of her room with her legs crossed, people are arguing in another room before she puts some headphones on and muffles it out while she distracts herself with video games.

Mochat Doma - Klekta - Rumi remembers why she hated the TRC. It will follow her routine of walking to school, then getting ready for work, then going to work. (close to completion)

TV Girl - Blue Hair - Rumi tries on three new hairstyles in front of mirror (15% completed)

Re-routing The Hundred Line [Update]

(Potential spoilers for the original game in the post & picture provided)

(Also, TL;DR warning. It's a long post.)

In a previous post, I discussed some things about the game's routing structure and had thought about how it could be improved. I had posted a picture similar to this just to get my thoughts out there and see what other people think, but it doesn't seem like there were any easy answers. The "tree structure" of the game's original routing was the biggest issue I wanted to resolve

Thankfully, after some time to think for myself, I was able to get the majority of the routes envisioned, including a fan-inspired route that gives a huge focal point on Kyoshika. Right now, I'm sitting at a ballpark range of almost 70 confirmed endings.

All I need help with is getting some route ideas on some of the branches that I have started with. If you can think of anything after reading through this post, feel free to let me know.

Below are descriptions of each incomplete route to give you an idea of what's happening so far:

Spare the Traitor -> Reveal Nothing -> Tell Kako the Truth

The traitor is spared and imprisoned. When Sirei explains the situation to everyone, Takumi chooses to keep his mouth shut. Sirei brushes off the subject and respects Takumi for trying to keep the future predictable in order to maintain a tactical advantage over the enemy. On the way to 2LDA, Takumi is alerted by Sirei that LDA is being attacked. Takumi then blurts out, "But it's only day 8!" Kako is here when this happens and immediately suspects that there is something Takumi knows that he isn't telling anyone. Takumi tells Kako the truth about his coming back from the future and trying to protect everyone. Kako was puzzled and a little skeptical at first, but she eventually believed Takumi. Takumi informs Sirei about Kako, and the three of them work together to keep the enemy from breaching the school. The good news is that Kako and Ima can have a good focal point in this route, whereas in the original game, there isn't really a route that focuses on developing their characters for the better. In the future, Ima may or may not want to butt in on what Takumi and Kako are doing together. Also, in this route, V'ehxness doesn't know about Takumi's time-traveling powers, and everyone, up to this point, is still alive.

Spare the Traitor -> Reveal Everything

Takumi tells everyone that he is from the future. However, unlike in the "Reveal Time-Traveling" route, Takumi doesn't stop at just proving he came back from the future. He tells everyone all the details about what happened in the previous timeline, including the traitor's stance on the mission. Sirei decides to brainwash the traitor into fighting for the team, but he does this while Takumi is on his journey to save 2LDA. The enemy attacks LDA during this time. As a result, someone from the team is killed and absorbed by V'ehxness. In contrast to the "Reveal Nothing" route, V'ehxness knows about Takumi's time-traveling powers. After mourning the loss of a soldier, Sirei decides to kill the mood even more and confront Nozomi for not being an official LDA member. Takumi claims that Nozomi is not a traitor, and Sirei pressures Takumi into revealing her secret. I envision that this branch can bring a lot of potential screen time for Moko and Kurara.

Reveal Nozomi's Secret

Takumi tells everyone about Nozomi's past to take the pressure off both him and Nozomi. However, Nozomi is very upset about this decision. Everyone else feels skeptical about Takumi exposing someone's deepest secrets. Sirei drops the subject and decides to trust that Nozomi will fight for humanity.

Hide Nozomi's Secret

Takumi reprimands Sirei for wanting to know about Nozomi's past, especially by pressuring him into spilling the beans. Takumi makes it clear that it's up to her to decide when she wants to discuss this matter with everyone. Nozomi & everyone else admire Takumi for defending her, but now Sirei is suspicious of both Takumi and Nozomi. Days later, Sirei declares that Nozomi can't fight with everyone until he finds out what she is doing here. Nobody is happy with this.

Last Defense Academy OC Concept - The "Rogue Factor"

Borrowing this format from another user for simplicity. The details of this character are primarily centered around an altered version the 2nd Scenario route for a fanfic I'm writing in my spare time.

------

Character Name: Crono Mancer (Real Name: ???)

Appearance: Shortish messy brown hair, light dusting of freckles, blue eyes, dark gray hoodie, blue t-shirt, shorts. Around 5'10".

Personality Traits: Jokester, Wise, Logical, Empathetic, Stubborn

Zodiac Sign: Pisces

Starting Location: Second-To-Last Defense Academy

Backstory:

   - Crono's life, as he recalls before waking up inside of Second-to-Last Defense Academy, was a life spent on the surface, having never once heard of the Tokyo Residential Complex or anything familiar to his newfound companions. Though these memories are somewhat unreliable, as all his memories prior to getting attacked in his original school are covered in an odd haze, making details a bit difficult to recall. The most obscured memory is that of his own name, forcing him to adopt the only one he can recall, despite it being rather childish.

   - Despite the issues with his memories, he is still able to recall most of his life, though it's not exactly one he's fond of. For most of his life, he has essentially been locked to the confines of his house, unable to leave unless to attend school. His life felt like a purgatory, sheltered and unable to pursue any passions or spend time with friends outside of the confines of school

- Crono enjoys video games and books, seeing them as his way to explore the world through the lenses of creatives. This, tied to his already hyperactive imagination, allowed him to grow into quite the creative spirit himself.

   - Before being dragged to Second-to-Last through unknown means, Crono found himself wishing for something to bring a much needed change to his mundane life, before finding an Infuser that had mysteriously shown up in his backpack mere moments later.

   - Upon finding the Infuser, several Invader monsters appeared out of hiding, ambushing the boy. Though scared, a whisper he couldn't quite understand urged him to use the infuser, letting him transform into his Class Armor for the first time. But from there, Crono does not recall anything else until waking up in the classroom.

   - Crono is very inexperienced with combat and confrontation due to his "sheltered" upbringing. But when Second-to-Last comes under attack, Crono finds his footing with, ironically, the help of Kurara Oosuzuki, who after quite a bit of mutual bickering, agree to a contest to see who can slay the most invaders. Though he sacrifices himself to prevent Nozomi Kirifuji from taking a potentially lethal blow, he is able to win the contest by a hair, ultimately establishing himself as a capable ally... As well as Kurara's "equal", due to the bet conditions of "Winner Gets One Request".

   - Despite his being present since the beginning, Crono has no record anywhere of being enlisted into the Special Defense Unit, and yet is able to make usage of the Revive-o-Matic like official members, and with Sirei being unable to remove his permissions to do so. This matter is further complicated by Takumi's account of his original 100 days, of which Crono seemingly had zero presence, even in mention. This marks him as a danger to Sirei and similar parties, earning him the title of "Rogue Factor".

Quirks:

   - Creative Mind: One of the surefire traits Crono has always displayed through his life is an imaginative mind, one that, as he describes, "never shuts up". This comes with the unexpected benefit of seeing angles most others in the SDU miss or don't consider, which has often resulted in preventing an otherwise unavoidable catastrophe. Of course, it has also led him to unfortunate mishaps due to failing to execute one of his many ideas properly, though this is luckily only occurring in generally minor stakes situations.

   - Foreign Influence: For reasons Crono is unsure of, he is seemingly "haunted" through his hemoanima by some entity that bears an odd connection with the Invaders. This entity is the source of the odd whisper that Crono was initially guided by, and can seemingly drive Crono into a "compulsion" whenever one of his allies is at risk of truly dying. This has often managed to aid him in keeping allies alive that otherwise would've perished, but has also forced him into an odd mystery, having to seek out secrets from the Invaders that somehow seem to bear connections with this entity within him.

- Mediator: Despite his sheltered and troubled life prior, Crono has an oddly high sense of wisdom and empathic ability, allowing him to connect with others relatively easy on a basic level. He's able to find ways to connect and relate with his fellow SDU members, creating a trustworthy aura that makes the other members be more willing to open up about whatever may be bothering them. That said, he's careful not to push for details, often unintentionally slowing down his ability to get to the heart of the matter.

Flaws:

   - Stubborn: If there is one thing Crono makes known quite readily, it is how stubborn he can be when it comes to his ideals. He will not hesitate to defy an order he does not agree with, especially if said order would result in a guaranteed loss of life for an ally. This often puts him in conflict with authoritative types like Sirei, Hiruko and Kurara, resulting in him often handling things on his own if he cannot convince them.

- Inexperienced: Crono has very little experience with most things others would view as common skills. This forces him to constantly push himself at all times to improve to stand on what he considers even footing with the others of the SDU.

   - Overcharge: Crono's power is one that allows him to amplify the abilities and physical attributes of hemoanima users, himself being no exception. However, his body has an upper limit as to how much energy it can tolerate. Upon reaching this limit, his limbs will start to freeze up, as his power overwhelms his nervous system and paralyzes him. This is most often seen right after Crono's "compulsion" triggers, as his energy spikes the most in this state.

Common Relationships:

   - Really Likes: Tsubasa (Close Friend/Crush), Nozomi (Confidant), Kurara (Friendly Rival), Eva

   - Likes: Takumi, Takemaru (Training Partner), Kako, Darumi (Gaming/Pranking Buddy), >!Shion!<

   - Dislikes: Hiruko, Sirei (Mutual Antagonists)

Class Weapon: Dual Electrified Shortswords

Combat Style: Speedy Support DPS

Introductory Description: Crono's primary ability is effectively 'Hemoanima Amplification', achieved through a continuous electrical charge he generates. He can amplify the physical traits of allies with just a tap, as well as constantly amplify himself, allowing him to reach high speeds and keep up with his more athletic friends. He can also stun opponents he strikes or strike him, barring those with Stun Resist, inflicting them instead with a weak Move Debuff.

Combat Stats & Skills:

Base HP: 9

Base Move: 10

Base Attack: 2

Dash: 15

Passive: Special Spark

- Attack +1(Stacks) or Shield +2(Stacks) to allies within 2-Square radius; Stuns enemies that attack Crono within a 3 square radius

Negative Passive: Overcharge

- Crono afflicted with Stun if acts 3 times within the same turn

Is it just me, or do I see similarities between these two characters? (spoilers for Hundred and Digital Circus)

>!Maybe it's just me, but I see some similarities between Eito and Jax.!<

>!Both only show the feelings that suit them at the moment that suits them.!<

>!Both have a sort of love-hate relationship with a certain cast member (Eito with takumi and Jax with Ponmi).!<

>!Both hide what they really feel, showing only a false image of themselves. And because of their actions, they both end up pushing away the people who want to help them.!<

>!There's also his relationship with the main character.!<

>!they want to understand him and even bring him back into the group (Ponmi with Jax and Takumi with Eito).!<

>!And also that both of them show their worst sides toward each other (in the case of Digital Circus, I'll just mention when Ponmi attacked Jax in Chapter 6, and in the case of Hundred, multiple eitos).!<

>!Obviously, they aren’t exactly the same,Eito didn’t have a Ribbit who genuinely wanted to help him, and Jax doesn’t have an issue that makes him hate humanity (his gender dysphoria is a separate issue).!<

>!I’m curious if my comparison is accurate or if I’m just crazy, hah!<

First look at Shouma in the stage play

I definitely didn’t expect to get our first look at KIMERU as Shouma so quickly, but hey! I’ll admit, it’s kind of jarring to see Shouma without his cartoonish features, but I’m sure KIMERU will do a great job portraying him onstage.

V’ehxness is almost Too easy to defeat as a Boss Battle lol

I mean I just finished Second Scenario with V’ehxness at her “strongest” and yet by the time I Finally get to fight her (Day 99) I had already leveled up most of the characters (lvl 3 or 4 attacks), most of them equipped with Last Yell and Attack Boosts and she practically fell like paper mache in only a few turns.

Probably the easiest run I’ve had with her.

Edit: and Apparently according to the comments the same could be said about All the commanders are too easy to fight really especially since we have “Despair potions” to Kamikaze them with Last Resorts.

Either the developers update the game with more difficult commanders or up the game’s difficulty

For People who like Ima, why?

I’ve been getting back into The Hundred Line again, and I’ve been doing a playthrough of the first route. He doesn’t really have any redeeming or good qualities in my eye, he just feels like a jerk. He’s a horrible brother to Kako (even though by the end of the first route he does improve slightly) and he’s pretty much always openly antagonistic.

It could just be that I haven’t played the route where he shines. In that case, what route best shows why you like Ima?
