I've been trying to make flower print or neo tribal kind of shape on latex body suit and I try to really have a clean workspace but I still have some "bubble" because of dust of glue that stick to itself. Idk if I'm using the right solvant ( agosolvant bostik) or the wrong cloth. Do any of you have some tips?
Hi! I've been wanting to experiment with latex for a while, but I haven't gotten around to it because MJ glue is so expensive (due to taxes and shipping costs since I'm in Mexico). I'd like to know about other latex glue alternatives for beginners. I've seen that most people use this glue with a bit of thinner, but I'd like to hear your opinions. By the way, if you have any recommendations for online courses on creating garments with latex, I'd be interested!
Edit: sorry, I misspelled beginner in the title lol
Hi everybody, I hope that you can help me out. I have recently started making my own rubber gear, however I running into troubles/ insecurities. How much stress should a latex seam be able to handle?
My current proces:
Clean sheets with heptane and let it dry (0,4mm, from latexpermeter.com)
Apply solvent based glue from latexrepair.nl to both sheets and let it rest for 4 minutes
Glue together and apply force on the seam with a roller
Let it rest for 24 hours
The issue that I am facing is that I did some test strips with different dry times 5, 10 and 15 minutes and with all of them after stretch the sheets by 50% did the seams come apart.
What I mean with this is that the 2 sheets would separate where I glued them together (see picture).
Is this normal after this amount of pressure, or what am I doing wrong ?
Thank you already so much for your help
EDIT: for some reason my current process explanation was deleted, Toni added it back
Hi Reddit! I am new here, this is my first reddit post! I have been a seamstress for close to 20 years now, and I recently tried my hand at making some latex clothes. After many failed attempts and quite the learning process, I have created 2 wearable samples! I am attaching photos. No one that I know in my circle works with latex, so any feedback is welcome and appreciated (There are still some fit and construction issues that I need to work on, like the rippling along the seam in the bodice on the pink.) Am I allowed to link my Etsy too? Or is there a more appropriate page for that? If anyone has any questions on my process, let me know and I will share details <3
does anyone know of any latex crafting classes based out of NYC coming up soon? i’m interested in participating in something in-person to get a feel for the craft but it’s hard to find any info on this online.
