Its truly incredible Gooseworx gave him an ending that neither fans nor haters will be satisfied with

Don't get me wrong, I'm sure there's gonna be those diehard Jax haters who just wanted him dead and will be celebrating his abstraction. But I know most of the fanbase will be disappointed.

Jax abstracting is the easy way out. His entire character is depicted as someone who runs from consequences and his true self. Jax wanted to abstract so he could be with his friends again. Fans of Jax wanted him to grow and begin the process of healing. MOST haters of Jax said they'd rather he simply be called out by someone and forced to take accountability for his actions, seeing abstraction as both the easy way out and a fate excessive even for him.

Instead, neither happens and we just get "the suicidal character ends their life in the finale offscreen". Pretty much all of Jax's backstory are things fans already guessed/knew, oh Ribbit was a close friend that he pushed away, he probably had a falling-out with Kaufmo, its implied he used to be friends with Ragatha, etc. The only actually new thing we learned was what he was running from in the real world, thinking he might've accidentally killed his mom. Sure you could say it shows the message of "you can lead a horse to water but can't make it drink" as Alex Rochan said (only save those who want to be saved), but that could've been shown to us via Jax pushing them away and then isolating in episode 7 or from Caine's ending too. But Caine just gets revived somehow and has a redemption in the last few minutes, but Jax simply abstracts and that's it. Goose basically validated the complaints of the series being "the Jax show" and it was for nothing because his ending doesn't leave either side satisfied.

When Gooseworx said "I think Jax fans will still love him and haters will still hate him by the end", I thought it was showing he wouldn't become the final villain like many thought but also wouldn't get a full redemption arc either. I never expected it just be "I'm going to abstract him early on and then spend most of the film focusing on his backstory". Its incredible how he's alleged favorite character but she managed to give him the most unsatisfying conclusion

The Amazing Digital Circus Ep 9 Summary

So I just finished watching the last episode of The Amazing Digital Circus in Brazillian portuguese.

Before the movie begins the ugly fish from the beach episode tells us to not spoil anything and wait until the end because there is a QR code for merch.

The episode starts with the group discussing Caine being deleted, Kinger affirms Caine was messing with the controls and that's probably what caused his deletion. Kinger seems to remember now about the brain scans, Jax snaps at everyone since they will never leave the circus.

Kinger starts trying to restore the Circus, he and Ponmi try to fix a hole on the floor and are joined later by Ragatha, Gangle and Zooble. While the group works Jax tries to approach Ponmi but he gives up talking to her.

We then cut to Jax being abstracted.

The girls and Zooble discuss what they could have done to help Jax. Gangle laments she can't even cry for him.

Ponmi then gets a gun and lures the abstracted Jax into one of the corridors with their private rooms, she shoots all the lights and throws herself at Jax. She enters some kinda of pocket dimension inside Jax where different doors show how Jax thought he was perceived by each Circus member. The scenario where Ragatha abstracts is the darkest one since it's just Jax trying to strangle Ponmi. We are shown the Zooble one where Gangle abstracts and Zooble blames Jax, they have a looney tunes like chase that ends with Zooble falling from a cliff. In the Gangle one Zooble abstracts and Gangle is wearing her fast food happy mask and bossing everyone in how to prepare Zooble's funeral, Jax is wearing his maid outfit and offers the key to his room to Gangle so they can "meet" later.

We then cut to a break room where we see the two Jax from the previous scenarios and a piano player Jax. After they leave the piano player Jax offers Ponmi the key to get to the real Jax.

Ponmi sees a recap from Jax life in the circus, he was very good friends with Ribbit and Kaufmo and was even friendly with Ragatha. One day while Jax and Ribbit discuss their lifes outside the circus Jax admits his parents divorced while he was in high school and the dad left never to be seen again. He constantly fought with his mother, who called him a "less man" when he didn't fight back and "bad just like his father" when he retaliated. One day they had a pretty bad fight and Jax pushed his mom, he isn't sure if she died in the fall or not since he took off and became homeless.

Ribbit says if the police never went for him his mother is probably okay, she says his secret is safe with her and wraps her ribbon around his ear. Kaufmo suddenly knocks at the door and Jax get weird, throwing the ribbon on the floor. His relationship with Ribbit gets worse, with him antagonizing her and saying that the story about his mother was a lie and she was dumb for falling for it, isolating her from the rest of the group until their adventure in some snowy cliff where Jax say some pretty mean stuff to her which causes her to abstract.

Jax assumes that mean persona after that and berates Kaufmo for thinking there is a way to escape, which leads to the pilot episode abstraction. We also see Jax just being a cunt to everyone in the circus and his POV of his fight with Ponmi in the gun episode.

Ponmi then wakes up to see the real inner Jax, she embraces him and says that she should have been there for him. Jax says she is only making things worse but Ponmi encourages him to vent. He admits hating her but is really sad to losing his sanity and that he doesn't want to go away. Ponmi is then rescued by her friends, who say they would never let her solve everything alone.

They make a shack and lure the abstracted Jax into staying there. That's when Gangle finally cries for him.

We then cut to Caine in the void, he has conflicting feelings about being deleted, but ends up admitting he was wrong. He gets rid of the blue AI he absorbed before and ends up getting acess to the brain scans, finding out the real name of each character and their social media. While at the beach he has some dialogue with the flirty moon and she says he loves him(even though he never taught her to do that), then he goes back to the circus, ask for forgiveness and show them the lifes their original selves live:

Abigail, Suzie(Ragatha), Zoe/Zoey(Gangle), Riley(Zooble), Grant(Kinger) and Leroy(Jax).

Ponmi still does urban exploration and even brings friends with her now.

Ragatha left her town and cut contact with her mother, she is very happy.

Zooble opened a bar.

Gangle got hit by a truck, but after recovering she became a designer and posts her webcomic online.

Jax got back at his feet, becoming a delivery driver. Caine tells them Jax is a costumer at Zooble's bar.

Kinger has two girls with his wife, he still works in IT.

Caine starts calling them their real names, but Abigail says there in the circus she is just Ponmi.

We then have some scenes of Caine letting all the adventure portals free to come and go, Ragatha plays softball with Ponmi and Caine, Zooble opens a bar in the circus and makes drinks (even for Caine), they all have good moments together and some of the abstractions now live in the Aquarium in the losers' lounge from the gun episode.

The penultimate scene is the real people from the circus waiting at a bus stop together.

The last scene is just Ponmi walking alone in the circus and waving at the viewers.

If anyone has any questions feel free to ask.

There was no reference to Bubble, she is there in the void but doesn't talk and has no face lol. We don't see her anymore in the circus which is weird because she was there after Caine "death".

My main issue is there is nothing about how the main cast besides Kingler had their brains scanned. Zooble and Ponmi were urban explorers and Jax was homeless but Agatha was with people when she put the headset and Gangle was in the hospital after her accident. Were they the only only ones brave enough because life was pointless for them? What about Ribbit and Kaufmo?

I have mixed feelings on the ending of Digital Circus

To be completely clear, only a handful of leaks are out so far and maybe the full finale could change my opinion towards positive. But the leaks we do have are the most important parts of it and its a mixed bag. Obvious spoilers are below, be wa

To specify, the SOMA theory, to nobody's surprise, is confirmed. The characters are indeed digital copies/brain scans of real people and there is no escape. The cats get to see their old selves in the real world. It ends with them staying in the circus, eating dinner just like in first episode but this time Pomni is happy.

I'm fine with this. Gooseworx said the meaning of the show is "there's meaning to be found in a stagnant life". Having them escape would contradict that. The message is how connecting with each other is what helps you survive.

But there are two things I do have issue with are Jax and Caine's conclusions. Both fans and haters of Jax will feel validated from what happens with his character in this episode. Jax abstracting has been teased since episode 6 but that doesn't mean its good writing. Having the 2nd main character, who explicitly has been confirmed as suicidal, choose to end his life in the finale feels so weird. What's even the point of having Pomni save him from abstracting in episode 7 when he just abstracts anyways? I get the Ted parallels and tbf, his ending somehow manages to NOT be a complete downer but its off-putting.

And then Caine just coming back at the end and letting the players have power feels like a cop-out. Caine's entire character was a tragedy, his final scene was tragically fitting end for someone who always wanted to matter, just being deleted out. So for him to come back and go "I'll let you guys have control now" makes episode 8 lose a lot of weight in retrospect. "I didn't ask to be created! I just wanted to fullfil my purpose!" Perfect final words and then he just comes back at the very end anyways. Overall, I don't think the ending is a complete trash but I do wish these two things were different.

Edit: Nevermind, I watched the full leaked movie and yeah guys, that was hot TRASH. I feel so betrayed for having ever watched this series. Literally majority of the movie is Pomni going through Jax’s memories after he abstracts offscreen (only her willing to do so) only for him to abstract at the end anyways and then pull him into the tent like a dog. And then Caine somehow comes back and gives them admin powers. It was genuinely awful.

All those leaks, and this is what we get from The Boys finale???

https://www.primetimer.com/features/the-boys-season-5-episode-8-finale-ending-explained-is-spoiler-really-dead

Mann, it's beyond ridiculous, even though we all unanimously believed they'll ruin the ending, but blowing it to smithereens was never anticipated. The episode wasn't rushed; they were like "bleh, here you go." Combine the plotholes, and we may conjure a literal black hole.

Remember the time when Seth Rogen (An exec on The Boys) took a dig at GOT finale?

Don’t get me wrong, I am a fan of Seth Rogen. Now keeping that aside.. It’s really easy to talk about someone else’s show and they effed the up finale. Seven years later your show had the potential to deliver a diabolical finale, what you did? You fumbled big time too.

Pity all our expectations and let me tell you these weren’t just fan expectations this is what you pointed and hinted what will happen from early seasons 1-2.

Now the execs will hit back at fans for their incompetence.

Shame shame shame *Bell rings*

Very disappointed

In the end, there's no scene of Homelander going berserk and massacring everyone. They spent about five episodes touching each other and making dick jokes. Five seasons of him threatening to go crazy. Reminder that in the penultimate episode, we got a scene with Dogknott and another one whose name I can't remember (I don't give a fuck) where they're sniffing each other's asses 🔥

Everything I've seen so far about The Boys final

  • Homelander roasts The Deep, telling him he wanted him to feel how worthless he is
  • Homelander has a speech publicly where he basically declares himself as a God. No rampage apparently (seriously? then what was the whole fucking point?. Antony Starr said after Episode 3 and the Ryan beatdown that he can't wait for the audience to see the worst thing Homelander has done)
  • The Peak and Annie have a one last showdown, where Annie asks The Peak if he doesn't want to be free of Homelander. The Deep basically blames her for all of his problems and for him losing everything. They have a fight, The Peak is then in the Ocean and getting killed by the Sea creatures
  • Hughie does a Butcher impression
  • Aside from Butcher, no one on The Boys dies
  • Ashley doesn't get a redemption or whatsoever. She is just arrested. They kind of a had a setup for her having a redemption before death, but after the last Episode I'm fine with this being her fate.
  • Homelander vs Ryan and Butcher is public (takes place after Homelander addreses the nation). Kimiko depowers Homelander. Butcher kills Homelander in front of the whole world basically, saying "this is for my Becca"
  • Butcher offers Ryan a fresh start, but Ryan rejects, says Butcher is not a good person either
  • Butcher and Hughie meet in the Seven Tower. Butcher is ready to unleash the virus with Hughie pleading him not to do it.

This is what I saw so far.

This isn't a vent sub for The Boys, can we stop making new threads just to whinge?

We get it, you're upset about The Boys. Can we keep the whining to the actual sub so those of us that don't care don't have to see the complaining?

If you have something about a spin-off, fire away, but this isn't a sub for venting about a TV show you don't like. Keep it to the main sub, or to the comments of plot leaks.
