Possible sale?

Do the XP4 750s ever go on sale? Yes, I’m aware that they’re always doing the “buy the bike, get free accessories” deal, but does the actual price ever budge? I’m going to have to buy two whenever I buy one (one for the wife and one for me), so I’m just curious if anyone is aware of a sale that may happen eventually.

XP4 750w Weird peddle issues, Tampa to 100%.

Hi, I need some advice.

Background:

My bike was bought second hand. And left outside a bit. On its side... So a little rust on one side. Not a lot, very superficial. Really had like 110 on the odometer. Since I got it I cleaned, degreased, regreased... Derusted chain... Relubed... Ended up changing the freewheel and chain. There was sand or rust on the inside. Double triple checked that I got the correct freewheel and chain. Other than that I also had a small tumble... Had most parts replaced that got scuffed... The screen and thumb pad bottom got stuck... Replaced the thumb controller pad.

Now I've had the bike for about two months and not exactly sure when this issue started showing up. Cus it randomly happens.

The Issue:

It randomly gets super sensitive to peddling. I hope it's not the torque sensor. It gets jerky while peddling possibly picking up small feet movements as a full rotation and then the big one... when I just peddle casually it ramps up to 100% and goes to 28mph... Doesn't really matter what mode I'm on. It's so aggressive I can't stand up and peddle cause there is no push back on the peddles.

Things I haven't done yet to fix.

  1. Factory reset screen or replace it with one Lectric sent me... I asked for a bracket that got cracked and they sent me the whole bracket and screen.

  2. ...

Things I have done to bike in general that might be aggravating it.

  1. Over greased area inside the left crank arm and bottom bracket.

  2. The freewheel and chain... (Doubt it) Bike shop that works with Lectric and other ebikes did it for me.

  3. Changed some settings to double the cadence of the torque sensor... Maybe one other thing (don't think it's this)

  4. Also don't think it was the crash. Basically turned wheel to much while standing and went tail over head no solid crash. Just from handle bar are basically got scratched up. Bike fell on me mostly...I got scuffed up a bit...also think this issue did pop up to some degree before this...not sure.

I read somewhere I should try and troubleshoot to find out where the issue is. Torque sensor or screen... Or something. I'll have to look it up again. But like I said it's like every second bike ride. Coin flip. One time it's good, next time it's not.

One time I cleaned my shock posts and relubed them and then just added lube everywhere. Yes I use the correct lube at the correct spots. Honey something for posts and park tool ppl for other spots and specifically at the left side between the crank arm and bottom bracket... The next day it did the ramping thing. Somewhere I read it was possibly over greasing that spot... I wiped it down to where I thought it was degreased enough... Did not use a degreaser. Next day... Worked great... Then 3 days later I tried again and it did it again. Maybe I just need to degreaser and regrease with a lot less.

Sorry for the big ramble. Any advice would be appreciated.

Re-greased my old motor with 1500 miles on it.

About 6 months ago I broke some spokes on my xpedition 1.0 and just bought a new rear wheel assembly real quick because the bike is my daily commuter, but I had every intention to fix up the old one so If something happened, even just a flat I could just swap the wheels real quick.

Finally got around to it this week, and figured if I'm fixing the spokes, I should re-grease the hub motor and replace the brake rotor because it had noticeable wear on it.

Any way, thought you all might want to see inside one of the 750W hubs after 1500 miles

the old grease was pretty nasty and stiff/dry.

If you watch hub motor service vids online, some are sealed with silicone sealant, some aren't. This one was not sealed, but when I reassembled it I used a little high temp gasket maker I already had around to seal it up.

I used Super Lube-21030 Synthetic Multi-Purpose Grease Just about any NLGI Grade 2 lithium grease should do it though. Other grease often recommended online is lucas oil red n tacky and Mobilgrease 28 aviation grease.

I went with super lube because its also marketed as a dielectric grease and that's always handy to have around so I have plenty of uses for any leftover.

Now I just need to get it on the frame and see about truing up the rim this weekend.

edit: lectric xpedition 1.0 spokes are 12g 128mm

adding this because I had a heck of a time confirming the 1.0 spoke size via Google. hopefully this saves someone else the trouble.

Passenger Rear Suspension / Alternatives

I bought a lectric xpedition 2 recently, and it has been a pretty fun means of secondary transportation for my partner and me. However, with the lack of a rear suspension, my partner really feels all the bumps, and I have to be extra careful about avoiding everything possible. Have any of you made modifications for smoother transport? I'm thinking some pillows minimally would be a good idea for extra cushioning

Headlight Upgrade 😳

Finally settled on a light to replace the Lectric Elite Headlight.

It's literally night and day! I was expecting a big upgrade but holy crap.

Lectric Elite vs. Fenix BC28R - both of the same unlit scene.

The Fenix costs 10 percent of the XP4 long range retail price but with replaceable 21700 cells it should theoretically last longer than me.

Swiss army of bikes

I’m currently in kid carrying configuration. In about a minute I can convert to cargo bike. Bike is not perfect but it’s a great platform for customization.

What I’ve changed:

  1. I swapped out every m5 bolt on the bike. The Lectric bolts are awful and strip and rust. For about $11 you can swap it all out.
  2. Extra battery! Added a 20ah battery. Put a Velcro wrap on it because it rattled a bit. Battery and splitter and mounts were about $350 all in.
  3. Tires! Added ultraverse tires and tubes. About $100.
  4. Brakes! Added new hydraulic brakes - about $70.

This bike is far from perfect but it’s an amazing platform for configuration. I also have the “hack” where if I set the tire size to 5 inches I get 28+ mph on throttle. With the extra battery I’m getting over 50 miles on throttle.

I think I’m done putting money into this. It’s really an amazing bike with some modifications. Folding is key for me as I throw in the back of the truck and go on adventures to Yosemite, Zion, Catalina, etc.

Redemption

Ha, see what i did there…? Smiling is good for you but this xp4 keeps me laughing. I noticed this bottle redemption center in Hyannis looks pretty with all the flowers. Still think my bike is better looking . Just wanted to wish everyone a great day . Lets all gear up and get out riding.

XPedition 2.0 motor making grinding/scraping sound

I'm hoping someone here might have some insight into an issue I'm having with my XPedition 2.0

For the last few weeks, I've noticed the motor getting a little noisier than normal when riding with my two kids on the back. The bike still worked great and the extra noise was minor, so I wasn't too concerned.

That changed yesterday.

A car ran a stop sign and I had to do a full emergency stop. No accident and nobody got hurt. But, immediately afterward I started noticing a much more pronounced noise from the bike.

At low speeds and under heavy load (typically when over 600 watts), I hear a scraping/grinding sound and can actually feel something that almost feels like it's dragging on the ground. My first thought was that I warped a brake rotor or somehow damaged a rear caliper during the hard stop.

What's strange is that once I get up to speed, or when the bike isn't under as much load, the sound gradually goes away.

I also did a quick test with the rear wheel off the ground and the kickstand up. When I spun up the motor with no load on it, everything sounded completely normal. No scraping, grinding, or unusual noises at all.

So does this sound familiar to anyone? If so is this something a reasonably handy DIYer could fix?

I need help

Recently i got this bike, and i started messing around with the settings and now the pedal assist doesn't work? It was working fine before i started messing around. Which i shouldn't have. Honestly i should have done some research. But cant anyone help?

Edit: i figure it out. The 22p (i think) was set to 0. When it needs to be set to 1 because that one is also for paddle assistants. Thank you guys for helping me out!

Do you actually charge your phone from your e-bike while riding?

I have a Lectric XP4 and I've tried using the USB port to charge my phone a few times, but honestly it barely seems to charge.

I'll plug my phone in while riding with GPS on, and sometimes the battery percentage barely moves — or it still slowly drops. At this point I usually just bring a power bank instead.

It got me wondering how many people actually use their e-bike to charge their phone.

Do you guys use the USB port on your bike regularly, or is it one of those features that sounds useful but you never really use?

Also curious if anyone has had issues with theirs — slow charging, not charging at all, disconnecting while riding, water damage, etc. Did you fix it yourself, contact the manufacturer, or just give up on it?

For people who actually use it a lot: what are you powering? Phone with GPS? Lights? Something else?

Do you use your e-bike to charge your phone?

Moisture anxiety

Range anxiety is often mentioned but my concern is moisture. Although i wipe the bike down after a ride, i live on cape cod and many mornings its misty/ borderline raining. Thats all it takes and i begin worrying about make believe malfunctions . Laughter is good but im honestly wondering if anyone has had any actual issues in light rain… heavy humidity… idk
( yeah on/ off rain this morning or i would’ve been out riding.)
Good luck riding everyone

Brand New Lectric XP4 750 turned on before being fully charged. Now will not.

Hi Lectric Subreddit,

I just got the XP4 750. I fully assembled it according to the video and I turned it on and off. After I fully charged it for a few hours I tried to turn it back on. It has not turned on since then. I tried to take the battery out and put it back in, it will not turn on. I tried to unplug the display and plug it back in. It will not turn on. I was wondering if anyone else has had this issue and what they did to fix it?

Like I said, It turned on at first but since then It has not after I charged it to full charge.

XP 1.0 brake pads

I have an XP 1.0 and it has the Xtech caliper type A brake pads with the cotter pin on the side. Can I get a recommendation on brake pads for the bike? Not sure if I need semi-metallic, metallic or organic. A link to purchase would be helpful thanks. I don't want to buy from Lectric. Too expensive at 40.00 a pop. Thanks

My XP4 is fucking haunted

It’s 3:20 AM, and the thing turned itself on and started scooting forward. I got an E003 pedal sensor fault, and a little blue man on a bike on the screen, WTF is happening with my bike?

This thing has been giving me A LOT of trouble lately, and now I’m regretting buying it.

Any solution to carrying 2 bikes on a class 1, 1 1/4" hitch?

Based on the obvious weight problem, I don't see much out there for bike racks that can support the weight. The other option I see is getting a cargo holder and finding a way to just strap the bikes down. Has anyone found a decent setup?

Seeking Thoughts on Repair

Hi!

My xp4's pedal assist does not work and I believe I found the issue. The wire connecting to the front chain ring appears to be distressed to the point where internal wires are showing (pic attached).

Background: The throttle provides power when pressed but pedaling does not. I did the standard troubleshooting on Lectric's website and sent their support team an email.

Wondering if anyone else has had an issue like this where this kind of repair fixed the issue? Or if anyone has any recommendations on what to check as a follow up for inspection to see what else might be causing the issue?

Thanks.

Picked up a XP 2.0 for a swap meet cruiser

Picked it up for $500 supposedly has 8 miles on it guy had 2 bikes this one and a black 3.0 it had about 125 miles on it. Bought them for him and his wife for using at the RV camp grounds. Wife did not like riding it. So he rode his with out her. That caused issues while camping. So he was selling them. My brother took the 3.0 we bought them on a package deal for $1200. My brother offered to pay $100 more for the 3.0 so he paid $700 and I paid $500. I am a heavy weight I did not like the suspension seat bar was to rough and jerky for me. Also did not like the handle bars. I am more comfortable with with a sweptback bar. Also did a fender delete, added a handle to help lifting it. Working on building a rack and changing the seat to a nose less fatass design. More on those later.

Question for the expedition 2.0 riders

I’m just wondering how you guys transport this bike, especially if you don’t have a truck. I’m very tempted to buy one for door dashing and also taking rides with my girlfriend into town to go swimming and hit up some restaurants. I have a Camry with a 2” hitch receiver and I’m trying to talk my self into making it work. Anyone else in the same situation ?
