Change throttle behavior on XP Lite 2.0

My understanding is that valid parameter value changes should persist once saved. I prefer for my throttle to always provide max speed when engaged. I am able to change P22 = 2 (from zero), which seems to do the trick, but I can’t seem to get that value to persist (save between power cycles). Am I mistaken that valid parameter changes can be saved to non-volatile memory?

Here’s what I’m doing:

  1. Power on display
  2. Hold + & - buttons until P1 shows
  3. Tap power button until P22 shows
  4. Tap + key until new value is 2
  5. ?

My throttle will then work the way I want it to but only until I power off the bike. When I turn it back on, P22=0 again.

I’ve tried every combo of + - on/off I can think of for step 5, but can’t get that value to stick.

What am I missing?

TIA

Impulse-bought an e-bike last night. Didn’t know Xpress 2 was so new!

On a whim, I bought an e-bike to do DoorDash with so that I could go hard building a savings… I join the sub today and it seems they announced the Xpress 2 yesterday??

I lucked out and bought it without realizing it was just announced!

Question is, are they already being produced? Haven’t gotten any word on shipping and id like to get to work to pay this off 😅

Thanks in advance!

E-bikes and elevators

Is it safe to bring an ebike into an elevator? I live on the third floor so carrying upstairs isn’t feasible. I’m planning on getting a lectric xp 3.0

Sold my XPedition, ordered the XPress2

I’ve owned the XPedition 1.0 since 2023. My kids have started riding and prefer it over riding on the back. It was a great bike tbf, just too big for me to zip around in casually. Excited to have something a little lighter and some of the new features of the XPress2. Really excited for hopefully less squeaking. I’d say those were my only two complaints about it. I sold my XPedition two weeks ago and was gonna do the XPress 750 or maybe something similar in another brand. Imagine my surprise that two days ago it was a different bike. Ordered it this morning. I’ve had no real issues with Lectric and happy for my second bike from them. Just wanted to share my excitement, that’s all.

One of my battery chargers quit working…

So my bike with both of my battery chargers along with the bike have been sitting at my dad’s house in another town for a while now, but I got dropped off at his house just now & rode my bike straight back to the nearest town where I live at now with my mom but for some reason once I got home & plugged in my bike to charge it only one of the battery chargers are actually working, so I was wondering if there’s a fix because my bike is the only transportation we have at the moment considering my mom doesn’t have a car. I live in a small town so the bike is perfect for going back & forth, it’s just a major inconvenience to have to wait twice as long for a charge now. I own the original Lectric Xpedition btw.

Vertical Hitch Bike Racks?

New to electric bikes and we have 3 XP4 750 that I'm looking to get a rack to take them on vacation. Driving a 2022 Honda Pilot Touring AWD with a class 3 hitch.

From what I'm learning, they are heavy, even with the battery removed so there are limitations on racks and the normal platform ones have the weight too far away from the hitch that the torque would be too much for my vehicle.

So, I'm wondering about the vertical mount ones like VelociRAX https://www.velocirax.com/collections/hitch-bike-racks/products/3x-max

Any experience with these? And would it be safe for a long road trip with lots of highway?

XPedition2 worth it without the dual/long range battery?

Finally purchasing a Lectric bike after using my friend's XP Lite2 pretty frequently for a year. She doesn't use it often so she liked that it was being run, and of course I take meticulous care of it, but it's definitely time to stop borrowing hers and get my own!

I live on an island with some pretty steep hills (and a few mountains, but I don't drive them often) and have never had issues with battery range on the XP Lite2. I plan to use the bike as my main vehicle in spring/summer/autumn (too rainy in the winter), so I'm considering the XPedition2 to handle a little more cargo and even my partner on the back sometimes (we're within the total payload capacity with our weights combined and the individual front/back payload capacities with our individual weights).

I'm just wondering whether the bike is worth it without the dual/long range battery? I don't quite have the funds for the upgrade right now, even with the memorial day sale on. If I had a heavy load or a passenger on the back, with the standard, singular battery, what kind of mileage can I expect with a lot of hills?

I'd also like to buy the dog cart to pull behind me, for my 45 pound standard poodle.

Debating whether I should just go with the XP Lite2 and use my car when I have stuff to haul or a passenger, but I'm also imagining camping trips with my partner and how fun it would be to explore a little bit on the bike together, that sort of thing.

EDIT: I won't be attempting to haul a passenger and a dog at the same time, to clarify : )

The XPEdition 2.0 One-Thousand Milestone Crash and Burn!

I came out of Home Depot to put the 6 4ft 2x4's in my Orbiter(tm) trunk and noticed that my tail light was on. And then my headlight, too. Uh, OK... that's kinda odd considering the bike isn't even turned on. I turned on the display and noticed that the odometer said 1,000 miles. I figured maybe the bike was celebrating its 1,000 milestone with this display of lights, said 'fuggit' and rode almost all the way home.

I was turning the very last street corner, and in mid turn my kickstand dropped off the bottom of the bike. I ran over it with the back tire and the bike slid out on the kickstand losing traction and I dumped the bike (and the 2x4's), busting the headlight and my knee.

Put everything back in the trunk and limped the last 100 yards home.

I put the kickstand back on the next morning (it appears they expected it to fall off the way it was designed) and called Lectric about the headlight and tail light always being on - you have to remove the batteries to turn them off. I explained the problem in about 5 seconds and without any, "try this and that" they just said they're sending me a new display, button pad, and controller which I'll need to replace. I told them to throw in some long-range batteries, too, but I don't think I was very convincing.

Happy 1,000 ! Yeah! Rah Rah! <sigh> What crapped out on your XPE2 first, and on what mile?

How to prepare for a long (to me) trip

Bought a XP4 long range maybe a month ago. I have been putting in the miles on it - roughly 20 miles every other day. I plan to do my first 40-50 mile ride soon. The brakes already squeal a bit, so will be cleaning it with isopropyl alcohol

What other checks and maintenance should i be doing to the bike? Ant other tips? This will mostly paved trail riding

How long, really, can you leave your battery unused?

I know this is all my fault, and I also know I can find out for sure by just testing my battery. That said, the short version is that I have an XP Lite that has sat in storage unused for two years. The battery has been stored separately and has not been touched for that entire time.

I'm at a point where I will be using an ebike more regularly and am wondering if it's worth buying a new battery for my Lite or if I should upgrade to a new model. Just curious if anyone has ever been able to use their battery after being neglected like mine for so long. I will note that the battery has been kept indoors in dry, room temperature, but I know that isn't the main factor.

problems with my folding xp4 750

i got the xp4, but im short "5'4" and my feet barely reach the ground, and because of that its hard to also pedal, when i try my shins either get destroyed, or i fall off the bike because i have to lean to one side just to use the lower pedal. i have the stock suspension post and the comfort seat, is there a way to lower the height?
if there is also no way to lower the height, how can i make the bike go 30mph on throttle only, i bought the bike for its advertised 30mph, but i can only go 20 because of my height limiting my pedal assistance.

Passenger seat for toddler and adult solution

I was looking for some sort of solution, maybe a modular system, that would allow me to quickly switch seating between my 2-year-old passenger and my wife. Oddly, couldn't find anything, so here is what I did.

Forget the overpriced Thule Yepp at $240. Instead, get a Bellelli Pepe for half the price. It works for kids up to 50 lb and attaches into a mountain that goes around the seat post. Then, get a $40 seat off of Amazon and make up mounts like this https://m.facebook.com/groups/lectricebikesowners/permalink/4084093105196581/?mibextid=Nif5oz

The baby seat fits right over the adult passenger seat. When I want the wife to go along, I just take the baby seat off in 10 seconds and I'm done!

Here's a pic:

Biking and talking…

…talking and biking. I got the wife and I (new to us) XP 2.0’s from FB Marketplace for a great deal and they were MINT!! Along with the new bikes, I got us a pair of these Sena BiKom communication system. It was great talking to each other and biking. Instead of the “WHAAAT?!!” when talking to each other. 🤣🤣 If you and your partner bike together a lot, I would suggest on picking these up.

Planetary Gears for XP Lite 1.0

Has anyone replaced the nylon gears or the planetary gear assembly in the motor of an XP Lite 1.0? If so, what did you buy? Looking to replace stripped nylon gears. While I have not reached out to Lectric I am guessing they do not provide anything other than the total wheel/motor assembly. Thanks.

Am I screwed?

Long story short, I rolled over the bike and the front brake lever still works (albeit slowly), but as you can see the lever is bent slightly and part of the plastic housing is gone so the only thing keeping the lever from falling out is the brake line. Thankfully the rear brake lever is intact.

How fucked am I?
