Need to rant - Drivers around Downtown Leesburg

I walk every day. From Harrison Street all the way to Ida Lee and back again. It's infuriating that some drivers just don't see me.

Just the other day I was crossing Catoctin halfway, the walk sign was in my favor, and this dude just not did not see me, he floored it. And HE flips me off when I went "what the hell?".

And it's not the first time. Couple of years ago a lady just ran the red light on Catoctin when I was in the middle of it. Why are drivers so bad?

And you can tell me "well, go walk on the W&OD!. I could, and I do for a section or two. But there's nothing to see there and I have to see things. Downtown is great, and there's always something to see.

Anyway. That's the rant.

Waitress jobs in Leesburg

I am looking for a job in Leesburg or purcellville as a waitress and I have no experience in that area but I do have a lot of retail experience and I learn and pick up quickly. Im in school for interior design and I have to move out of dad’s place by end of month so I’m trying to find a job that’ll allow me to afford my own place while studying . Any places in mind?

Lakes/rivers for swimming?

I just moved here from WA state and am so used to being able to go to the lake or river during the hot summer days for swimming. I’m wondering if there is anywhere like that here?

We are lucky enough to have a pool close by so it’s not the end of the world but since we don’t have the beach close by it would be nice to be able to go to the lake to catch some sun. Seems like I am not able to find any swim able lakes nearby though.

Sportsbar/brewery to watch hockey next week?

Hey Leesburg, do you have any recommendations on a sportsbar or brewery that will be open 8-11 pm next Wednesday? Looking to watch hockey playoffs and near Landsdowne without a car.

Would prefer non chain type places, but beggars can’t be choosers.

Thanks!

Uber availability in Leesburg

I'm staying in the area for a wedding and am wondering if Uber is reliable enough with plenty of rides? I would prefer not to rent a vehicle. I have been looking up rides on the app and it seems like there's availability but I was hoping to confirm from locals. Thanks in advance!

NEED ADVICE! couple looking to move to Leesburg w/ dog 🐶

My partner and I want to move out within the next year, and are trying to find a good town close to where we currently live and still affordable, hence the idea to move to Leesburg.

We will be looking to find a one bedroom apartment for us and our dog, with a max base rent of $2,000.

I would love any advice on parts of Leesburg to avoid/parts of Leesburg you would recommend for a couple in their mid-20s.

We know there's not a lot to do, because we live about 15 minutes away from Leesburg currently, but we want to be able to commute to work and offer our dog a decent place to live without too much chaos!

Please tell me anything and everything about Leesburg that you can, and if you know of any places that are good to rent!

Thank you so much for your help! 😊

When did CMX Theatre change hands?

I was just there last week....saw Devil Wears Prada 2...still have gift cards and a free movie voucher. No warning of the theatre changing or going under.

I just saw a new sign for Phoenix Theatres....did they buy out CMX completely?

Any idea if my gift cards will still work or...am I screwed?🧐

Pet sitting service recommendation?

We are going on vacation next month. We've got 2 indoor cats and a bird (bird stays in a separate room). Any recommendations for good pet sitters or companies?

Cameras everywhere

Noticed cameras and little tube things installed on signs all along 7/15 and King St this morning. I'm assuming they are flock type cameras. Wonder how much we are paying for an unnecessary surveillance state. I'm assuming they are new as I hadn't noticed them before. Anyone know what the little tube things are? I'm guessing communications for the cameras.

They seem to be along the road, especially at the on/off ramps., but note that the two images below are on King St S near the Food Lion and the ramp from 15.

Edited to add images and context:

Where can I find a rubber duck claw machine around Loudoun?

Vanish Brewery used to have this awesome rubber duck claw machine that was basically a guaranteed win for kids. You’d put in 50 cents or maybe $1, move the claw around, and try to grab a duck. If your kid missed, they could keep trying until they finally won one, which made it way more fun and frustration-free.

The claw machines at Walmart are such a ripoff, the claws are super weak, and my daughter is specifically fond of rubber ducks, so the Vanish one was perfect.

They used to have a whole arcade area, but sadly they got rid of it. Does anyone know of another place in Loudoun that has a rubber duck claw machine or something similar for younger kids? Or another brewery with an arcade? Thanks!

Where can I find a photo booth near or in Leesburg?

Wondering where to find a classic Photo Booth near Leesburg :) I know they are usually found in places like the mall, I just moved here so I would have no idea where to even begin. I have a friend coming to visit me soon and we always like to take cute pictures in the booths for memories ☺️
