Hallo allemaal, binnenkort gaan wij op bezoek bij een goede vriend van ons die in de omgeving van Leeuwarden woont. Nu willen wij hem een eet-kadobon geven maar niet die ene “nationale” maar echt van een lokale leuke eettent. We vonden online wel wat eetgelegenheden maar wat is de leukste? Is er een betere?

​I am an international student who recently moved to Leeuwarden, and I am currently trying to navigate buying my first second-hand bike on Marktplaats.

​I am a 6-foot-tall guy, and I just found a really great deal on a Gazelle in my size. The only catch is that it is a "damesfiets".

​In my home country, bicycle frames are pretty strictly gendered, and it would definitely turn some heads or get some laughs if a guy rode a women's bike. However, looking at how people commute here, that low step-through design seems incredibly practical for riding around the city, carrying things, and constantly stopping at intersections.

​Before I buy it, I wanted to ask about the cultural norm. Will I get weird looks or be mocked for riding a damesfiets as a man, or is it completely normal and accepted in the Netherlands?

Ik ben opzoek naar wat moois voor aan de muur, maar heb geen idee waar ik zoeken moet.

Lang, lang geleden, zat er een klein smal winkeltje tegenover de Mac Donald's, die vol stond met schilderijen. Later kwam daar Fer in (die nu een stukje verderop zit), en nu zit er weer iets anders.

Edit: Just to clarify, I’m absolutely open to trans and enby people. I already have lots of enby and trans friends, and I love that community. I just don’t want “being trans” to be the main thing a friendship revolves around. I want to be seen as a whole person too.

Hoi! Ik ben Jip, 34, Die/Diens, genderfluïde en queer, en woon in de buurt van Leeuwarden. Ik ben wekelijks daar of in Groningen stad te vinden. Ik ben op zoek naar vrouwen (ongeveer 27-43 jaar) om vriendschappen mee op te bouwen en om meer van dat "one of the girls" gevoel te ervaren.

Bij mijn mannelijke vrienden merk ik steeds vaker dat ik toch weer de "kerel", "gast" of "dude" ben. Dat past steeds minder bij hoe ik mezelf ervaar. Ik zoek vrouwen bij wie dat vanzelfsprekender voelt. Lekker kletsen, diepgang, lachen, elkaar begrijpen en samen het leven beleven. Met een lach en een traan, in plaats van altijd maar weer een slechte grap.

Ik heb echt Mindy uit Emily in Paris energie: extravert, enthousiast, sociaal, loyaal en een beetje golden retriever achtig. Ik ben graag onder de mensen, regel graag dingen en ben vaak degene die zegt: "Zullen we gewoon gaan?".

Ik zoek daarom vooral vrouwen die het leuk vinden om dingen te dóén. Koffie drinken, een vintage winkel induiken, wijn drinken, ergens lunchen, een avondje uit, maar net zo goed samen naar de Action, helpen met verhuizen of andere totaal onglamoureuze levenszaken. Juist dat soort dingen maken voor mij vriendschap leuk en op de lange termijn houdbaar.

Ik hou van intelligente en inspirerende mensen, ambitie, maatschappelijke betrokkenheid en gesprekken met wat meer diepgang. Ik vind het fijn als iemand emotioneel volwassen is en nieuwsgierig naar de wereld. Of dat denkt te zijn, maar het door omstandigheden nog niet kan waarmaken. Het leven loopt soms anders dan je denkt. Je hoeft absoluut niet super extravert te zijn, introvert is helemaal prima. Ik wil alleen niet ieder gesprek volledig hoeven dragen.

Verder ben ik van het soort dat het liefst met een glas thee of wijn goede gesprekken voert, of samen met anderen iets waardevols opzet. Ik reis elk jaar een dikke maand, in een land dat buiten mijn comfortzone ligt. Ik wandel graag met mijn hond, hou van make-uppen en shoppen, klus aan ons huis en bingewatch series. Tot mijn eigen verbazing lees ik ook nog steeds de krant. In het dagelijks leven werk ik als projectleider bij een gemeente.

En ik heb twee stiefkinderen van 21 en 23.

Beyond that, I'm the kind of person who loves good conversations over a glass of tea or wine, or setting up something worthwhile together with others. I travel for a solid month every year, to a country outside my comfort zone. I enjoy walking my dog, love doing makeup and shopping, work on our house and binge series. To my own surprise, I still read the newspaper too. In everyday life I work as a project leader for a municipality. And I have two stepkids, 21 and 23.

Binnenkort ga ik misschien in Bilgaard wonen. Nu lees ik online veel negatieve verhalen over de wijk. Zo zijn er vorig jaar twee mensen neergestoken.

Dat geeft me eerlijk gezegd niet echt een geruststellend gevoel. 😂 Helaas is er door de huidige woningkrapte niet bepaald veel keuze en zit er niets anders op.

Daarom ben ik benieuwd naar de ervaringen van mensen die er wonen of hebben gewoond. Is Bilgaard echt zo onveilig als sommige verhalen doen vermoeden? Kan ik daar 's avonds bijvoorbeeld gewoon over straat zonder me constant zorgen te hoeven maken dat er iets gebeurt?

Just curious, is anyone in or around Leeuwarden interested in an afternoon just hanging out (a bit) quietly reading or with a coffee chat casually about what we are reading?

Not starting a book club… and also don’t want to limit this to books only! It can be about movies and music, as long as you are fine sharing what you enjoy with a mid-30F stranger that doesn’t really speak Dutch. We can go to a cafe or if weather permits to the park.

Er komen waarschijnlijk een miljoen van deze posts langs, maar ik ben maandag in markt058 in Leeuwarden gaan wonen, en het lijkt me leuk likeminded mensen te ontmoet die ook films/games/lezen erg leuk vinden, is er iets van een discord of groep waar dat mogelijk is.

Ik ben 18 jaar, ga vanaf eind deze maand software development studeren op Firda, hoe erg veel van veel verschillende games, ga erg graag naar de bios en lees veel vooral sci fi en fantasy.

It’s exciting, but I have to admit… it can get a little lonely. Leeuwarden is beautiful, and there are so many things to see, do, and explore, so it feels like such a shame not to experience it with someone!

Is anyone else at a similar stage in life—new to the city, looking to meet people, and hoping to find a genuine friendship/connection? I’d love to find my own Mindy (Emily in Paris reference🫣).
