Chris Wingate, 45, of Alexandria, Virginia and Executive at the Heratge Foundation: Arrested for trying to bring Fentanyl, Cocaine and loaded 9mm US Senate Offices last week

For the record:

  1. Chris does have a District of Columbia firearms permit to carry, but he still couldn't llegally carry it into US Senate Offices.

  2. The drugs tested positive for Fentyanyl and Cocaine, but were only 3 tables/doses.

Matthew Christopher Wingate, 45, a Heritage Foundation government relations director, was detained on July 14 at the Russell Senate Office Building when X-ray scans revealed a pistol magazine loaded with 10 rounds of 9mm ammo in his bag. Officers also found four capsules and three blue pills in an exterior pocket that field-tested positive for cocaine and fentanyl; Wingate said the pills were his prescribed medication, resembling generic Adderall. He faces a misdemeanor drug possession charge, pleaded not guilty in D.C. Superior Court, and was released pending an August 27 hearing, with lab confirmation still pending. No weapons charge was filed despite his valid concealed carry permit.
