Legion 5 came with 245W charger

Hey everyone,

I recently got a new Lenovo Legion 5 15IRX10 and I'm experiencing an annoying power issue during heavy gaming.

Specs:

• CPU: Intel Core i9-14900HX

• GPU: RTX 5070 8GB (115W TGP)

• Display: 165Hz OLED

• Included Charger: 245W Slim Tip (20V 12.25A)

The Issue:

Whenever there is a heavy CPU/GPU load spike during gaming, the 245W charger momentarily trips/disconnects for a split second. The laptop briefly switches to battery power, causing the screen to flicker and drop from 165Hz to 60Hz, before returning to normal.

This looks like transient power spikes exceeding the 245W power limit and triggering over-current protection.

A few questions:

  1. Has anyone with a similar i9 + RTX setup experienced this with the 245W power supply?

  2. Did upgrading to the 300W Slim Tip AC adapter permanently resolve the issue for you?

  3. Were you able to get Lenovo Support / Warranty to replace your 245W charger with a 300W one for free?

Appreciate any insight!

Excessive screen heat.

I have the Leg Go S z1E running SteamOS. I’ve noticed that when the system is under heavy load (playing gears 5 atm) the screen becomes too hot to touch very quickly. I’ve tried both performance mode and custom with the TDP no higher than 25/30w but it’s still hot. The fan is working as expected. I’ve not noticed any throttling and the system hasn’t shut down of its own accord. The in game temp is showing 76 degrees on the screen information banner. Is this normal? I know there’s a lot going on behind the screen but this heat feels excessive. Thanks in advance.
