I know how to use one pretty well, but because of some financial issues at home, I don't think I'll be able to afford one during my college life. 🙏💔 It honestly feels bad when I want to learn new skills, work on projects, or study something that requires a laptop but I just can't.

I’ve spent the last few weeks spiralling deep down the refurbished laptop rabbit hole, and at this point, my browser tabs look like a high-stakes detective board. I’m trying to land a reliable, high-performance laptop for heavy 3D modeling, simulations, and CAD work without burning a hole straight through my bank account.
I’ve narrowed down my hunt to a few different avenues, but each comes with its own spicy mix of pros and cons. I’d love to get your real-world wisdom, roastings, and pointers before I pull the trigger!
Here is the dilemma I'm facing across the different seller types:
Option A: Dedicated Online Refurb Specialists (like ReTechie, Refurbo, etc.)
The Good: Upfront spec sheets, explicit 2-to-3-year warranties, and solid return policies.
The Catch: Mind-blowing specs with value for money; it's hard to keep it out of the options LOL
Option B: Direct Outlet / Brand Stores
The Good: Almost brand-new hardware (like 13th Gen chips) with official backing.
The Catch: Can get tricky during payment/checkout with third-party merchant names, and gaming-tier laptops in this bracket lack ISV drivers for heavy CAD stability.
Option C: Local Offline Sellers & Regional Repair Shops
The Good: Absolutely insane bargain prices on heavy-duty workstation units (Precision 7000 series, etc.)!
The Catch: Almost zero online footprint or customer reviews and a 1-month warranty period. If something goes wrong on day 31, am I left holding a very expensive paperweight? 😅
What I’m asking the brain trust:
Warranty vs. Hardware: Would you sacrifice a few CPU generations for a guaranteed 2–3 year seller warranty, or would you take the plunge on raw processing power?
Local Seller Reality Check: Has anyone bought high-end refurb workstations from unreviewed local shops? Is the risk worth the savings, or is it a trap?
Red Flags: What is your #1 golden rule or test when inspecting a refurbished laptop before handing over the cash?

My primary use is documentation and using trading view + browser. I want good battery life and a smooth laptop which can last.
The guy says the price is negotiable and he is also based on NCR, Noida and a few more locations.
Also he has a M1 Mac 16,512 for which he quoted 46k.

my old laptop gave up randomly so i had to change it asap as i require it for my work, initially i wanted to get a mac but was not finding a good deal to justify the purchase so i got this to getby.
had a smooth experience while dealing with Vaibhav bhai, i checked everything on the device was fine except battery health (which he ensured that will give a battery change if available) also a single pixel on the display is pink which is a custom importing issue.
Overall, it is a nice device as mostly my tasks are around productivity (sheets, docs, browsing etc) which work flawlessly here, this is my first time using windows 11 and so far i am liking it.
today only i found out the laptop has back lit keyboard as well lol

The Vivobook is about ₹3k cheaper and has the larger 15.6" screen, but the ExpertBook has the stronger overall platform and better iGPU on paper.
Which one would you pick and why? Also, if anyone owns either of these models, I'd really appreciate feedback on build quality, thermals, display, battery life and real-world gaming performance.

First I thought to buy from u/Willing_Front_2397, He was super helpful indeed. However, he only had 16/512 GB model available @26000 INR, pretty good pricing. But my workflow doesn't need much of storage so, got this one from local market instead.
Checked with Lenovo Vantage, everything seems original. Battery Health 94%, SSD health 91%, Internal condition as shown above.

Last month , purchased 50 of these at 4200 each from a dealer in noida now i called him today as well the price he quoted was 7000 for the 50 pieces , why there is a sudden spike again inspite of prices already being this high ?
