Isolate phone charger

Hi folks! Has anyone else with an RZ 350e (2026 model) found a way to isolate the Qi charger pad, in the shelf under the infotainment centre? I want to use that shelf for my key fob, etc while driving. I know it can no longer be simply switched off by the user. The dealer suggestions for using the shelf under the centre console, or the armrest cubby, just seem clumsy tbh. At the very least, does anyone know where I can find a tray insert that would fit there? I could then line it with some Faraday cloth.

RIP to my new car that I really loved.

My fault, I t-boned a car. Barely had her 3, maybe 4 months. I had just put stickers on her last week. All airbags deployed. She took good care of me and I'm just a little scratched up. I'm kicking myself harder than the actual accident damage to myself. Luckily the other driver also mostly unscathed.

L2 charging issue with 26 350e

My car is currently in the shop both for the recall and this issue I’ve had with level 2 public charging I’ve had for the past couple of months.

I bought the car brand new in January and all worked fine for the first few months and then randomly it just stopped working at public level 2 charging stations. Basically it won’t complete the connection. It just fails.

I’ve tested this at 3 different brands of L2 charging stations in my area. All the same results

I’ve tried 2 different adapters as well (the one that came with the car plus a Tesla branded one) and both yield the same results.

To make sure it wasn’t the adapters, I tested them at home using an old phev level 1 charger and both adapters worked fine and my car accepted the charge.

I’m just wondering if anyone else has had this issue and if so, what was the resolution (if any). I can’t find much about this being a common issue so I’m curious as to what the problem is and what the solution will end up being.

AC settings help

Car taking a long time to cool off. I know I live in Dallas, but still. Any settings I need to be aware about?

Talk me out of a 2024 RZ300e Premium

My lease is coming up on a ID4 Pro S RWD and the RZ300e seems like a nice upgrade in terms of comfort, resale value, and likely long term reliability. Range and performance seem roughly comparable to my 2022 ID4.

Found one somewhat locally for sale that is not Lexus certified, but is a '24 RZ300e for just under $30k with 46k miles.

This seems like a decent deal for a nicer vehicle; especially when I'm looking at about $22-23k for a 2022 ID4 replacement.

Tell me why buying this car is a bad idea! TIA

Wireless Qi Chargers useless

Was so excited to have wireless qi chargers and wireless CarPlay. Living with the car now: can’t charge due to iPhone 16 pro max camera bump. Just makes the phone hot and maybe 1% after 30 minutes. Even though I have the latest head firmware, still get lots of CarPlay disconnects and latency is noticeable. Went with usbc cable and now iPhone is cool, 30min gets be a lot of charge, and CarPlay never drops and is zippy quick. Last problem was where do I put the phone given that the charger is a lot of wasted space?

This suction cup rotating/articulating MagSafe stand is awesome. Doesn’t charge but keeps the phone from flying around, and keeps me from forgetting the phone when I leave the car. I was placing the phone in the compartment under the center console where the usb ports were and always leaving the car without it.

With all this, I have made peace with the useless-ness of the wireless chargers. Just wish there was a way to turn them off in the car software. I’m sure there is but Toyota hasn’t exposed that to us.

First impressions, RZ350e

I got this today, and I thought I’d share my first impressions. I have taken the model on a test run and knew what I immediately liked. Coming from a Toyota hybrid converting to an EV I really appreciate it feels like a car and not a computer game. It is really nice to drive and the comfort is a 10 out of ten. I’m still to get used to all the new beeps in regards to speed etc which is regulated by law in the EU, but I can’t blame Lexus for that. Still need to get used to the touch buttons on the steering wheel (which btw is ridiculously nice). As a new EV driver I am currently focusing on the charging bit, but I think it will get natural in time. In short, people can say whatever they want. The taste is different from person to person, but this car is good looking, great to drive, quiet(!) and seems to have what I need and want. I also like to drive something different, not as common and something with great warranty.

Problems with Adaptive Cruise Control

I've been having some intermittent problems with Adaptive Cruise Control. Sorry I don't have pictures since, well, I'm driving when these issues occur.

  1. "Lane tracing assistant unavailable soon. Take control of steering wheel" message and audio alert comes up on driver screen. This happens when I'm on a fairly flat freeway, clear visibility, no cars around me, and VERY CLEARLY MARKD lanes with dashed lines on relatively new and flat road. Also, my hands ARE on the steering wheel. Sometimes the message goes away on it's own, but sometimes I have to press the return/escape button on the left cluster of the steering wheel. If I don't do that when the alert persists, it will self cancel cruise control.
  2. "Driver no operation hold steering wheel" alert/message. This is related to #1 and comes on following sometimes if I don't press the escape/return button. I am holding the steering wheel everywhere for it to try and sense me but it sometimes works, sometimes doesn't. Again, the return/escape button cancels this out... until the next time it happens.

To be clear, this doesn't happen every time I drive. But in a week's worth of driving, it will happen every other or third time I drive with adaptive cruise control on the highway.

I'm keeping a punch list for things to address when I go in for my first service that aren't urgent (only at 3K miles now so 2K more to go before first service). I thought I would share as a PSA and to see if others have seen this issue and what they may have done to improve it.

Got my SF Bay Area bZ end of March, so was manufactured Feb or earlier? Still haven't gotten the recall notice and not in Toyota or NHSTA recall site despite other posts saying that bZ's made before April were affected.

Thanks in advance for any thoughts.

UPDATE: Thanks to all the feedback. I got a change to put into action the consensus suggestion and sure enough, when the "Lane tracing..." message/alert comes up, I just wiggle the wheel left to right a little and the message/alert goes away! I have an XLE FWD small battery base model so I guess no capacitive touch steering wheel so needs motion. I guess the Limited trip can really just touch the wheel. However, this still doesn't STOP the message from coming up when there is PLENTY of clearly marked LANES for the cameras to lock onto. It just randomly decides, even on a long straight stretch with no upcoming turns that it has lost track of the lanes.... My next test is to turn LTA off and see if I end up with no warnings/alerts. Thanks again for all who weighed in. Your typing is much appreciated.

Toyota App stopped registering home charging sessions?

So I just got the new Emporia Pro charger finally istalled. It is a GREAT charger. However, my Toyota App is refusing the show charging SOC while charging and therefore is not showing the charge session in the Charge History section of the app.

To be fair, there was already app problems before I installed the Emporia Pro and using the Toyota L1 Charger.

Right before install, it would show the status of charging during the L1 charging session, but it would not update the SOC until charging was completed. Prior to this problem, it would show SOC but required 3-6 refreshes before the current SOC of charging would show. But at least the session showed up in the app's Charge History.

During the install, I tested one charge with the Emporia Pro and that session did show in the Charge History, but couldn't get an SOC update until after session completed.

Now, it doesn't even show the status of charging during a charge with the L2 Emporia Pro (I'm using a 6A/1.5kwh rate of charge, so maybe that's it? As I type this, I realize I haven't tried higher than 6a yet and the one session that did record was at 40a/9kwh to test the max speed of the charger). So no Charge history for these 6a charges and no charging state/SOC during charge.

Anyone else seen these issues?

Thanks in advance again for this subreddit's collective wisdom.

Hi fellow RZ 450 E community

First, I love Lexus, but I got a little snake-oiled by a large California dealer.
I spent months mapping out the best Lexus for me. I was waiting for the 2026 ES EV, but because of depreciation, I decided to wait a couple of years and purchased a 2023 RZ 450e instead. It was a dealer loaner that had never been registered with the DMV, so I was officially the first owner—or so the salesperson told me.
I was also told the car came with Lexus Reserve because the range was so short. Mine also has the 20-inch wheels, which reduce the range even more.
It’s a beautiful car, but I’m getting about 150 miles of range, and the 12V battery dies all the time. No one told me about the 12V battery issues, so I wouldn’t feel comfortable taking this car on longer trips to places like Nevada, Utah, or Arizona.
The wild thing is I have a rental right now because I needed to take a trip. It’s a Mustang Mach-E, and I can go so much farther on it. I’m barely using any electricity. I’m not really a fan of the car—it isn’t bad—but it’s not a Lexus.
If you’re willing to help, could you comment or send me a DM if you have an RZ 450e and let me know:
● Model year (2023, 2024, 2025, or 2026)
● Whether you bought it new or pre-owned
● Whether you’re the first owner
● Whether you’ve heard of Lexus Reserve
● Whether you see a Lexus Reserve option in your Lexus app
I was actually sent a flyer saying I had the benefit. The option is still in my app, and I can even start the reservation process. But when I actually tried to reserve a vehicle, I was told—even by the dealership that sold me the car—that I don’t qualify because they made a mistake.
No general manager will call me back. I’ve left countless messages, and Lexus Corporate is essentially pointing back to the dealership.
I’m a little hurt. This is the most expensive car I’ve ever purchased. I was so excited to own a Lexus, and now I feel like I was misled.
A screenshot would be incredibly helpful, even if you do or do not have the Lexus Reserve option. Please feel free to block out your VIN, name, dealer, license plate, or any other personal information.
I’m trying to determine whether this feature is tied to model year, ownership status, or something else. I truly appreciate anyone willing to help. Thank you!

Over the air software updates

I have had the 2026 RZ450e Premium for the past 3 months. Does it bother anyone they have never been any updates? Has anyone gotten any updates to the car? How often do these updates happen if any?

I am not expecting it to be like Tesla but they can at least fix something as there are clearly things for Lexus to address.

I Bought It

Went in today for an appointment to drive the 350e, but it wasn't ready, so I took the 550e for an hour or so. Then into the 350e for a few hours. Was good to get to drive them back-to-back.

350 L package was super nice, and very similar to the NX, but the 550 won my heart. I just love everything about that car, so after a little conversation, I ordered the 550.

MSRP at the current exchange rate is about $60,200 (¥9,500,000). Lexus Japan only sells at MSRP. No discounts and no markups. The only manufacturer option I added was the digital rearview mirror. Ditched the roof (too hot here) and the Mark Levinson audio...I can't tell the difference anyway. All black interior. No red or blue accents. That's about it for manufacturer options, anyway. Everything is pretty much standard here. Piled in a bunch of dealer options and the total was ¥9,982,000 or $63,177 including registration and the lot. Sonic Chrome and keeping the black fender arches.

On top of that, there's a $6,455 subsidy coming back and Lexus pays for the 6kw charger and install at the house.

November Delivery. Can't wait.

DCM & 12V battery replacement

(Posted this in another thread on this channel regarding 12V battery issues. Reposting here for visibility, so please excuse the cross-post).

AN UPDATE:

Got the car back yesterday. The dealer replaced both the DCM and 12V battery. The DCM took almost two weeks to come in, and the battery was a more robust one with about 540 cold-cranking amps vs. 345 in the original car. He said the new battery should be more resilient to deep discharging, which happened three times and ultimately led to the original battery failing a reserve test.

He monitored voltage drain on the 12V after the installation was complete and saw it was stable at about 30mA per hour, a nominal amount and nothing like the 2A drain he saw with the original DCM.

There were some over-the-air updates that needed to occur to link the new DCM to my driver profile and Lexus account, which happened (almost) automatically when I had the car on the road. Nothing kept the car from being drivable, just that some of the profile configurations I created weren't immediately downloaded.

I let the car sit for about 15 hours between last drive yesterday and first drive today, and it started up fine.

He does want me to "stress test" the car a bit to see if ordinary use of the app, keeping the keys outside a tin can but more than 10 feet from the car, and keeping the car unlocked in the garage cause anything unusual or resume the big parasitic drain we saw.

One interesting bit he added is that Lexus is very aware of this and is waiting for enough service case reports to come in to justify a service advisory and campaign.

He did say that they found that certain utility company apps drivers use for finding the least expensive time of day to charge have been found to wake up the DCM and keep it awake. While that wasn't the case with my car, I wanted to put that here as another thing for drivers to watch for.

As a bonus, he disconnected the in-cabin beeping when the car backs up and confirmed that my car isn't caught up in the ECU service campaign.

I hope folks on this subreddit find this helpful. I'll post more if anything occurs or if this seems to have resolved the matter for me.

What did you pay OTD for your 2026 RZ? Trim?

Currently shopping for an RZ 350e Premium and trying to gauge what everyone paid OTD vs sticker. Went to go look at one tonight and the dealer wouldn't go down below the sticker price of about 52k.

Test Drive/Follow Up to My Last Post

Previous post Here: https://www.reddit.com/r/LexusRZ/s/hcQSWw2AXr

Showed up for scheduled test drive today, and of course the 350e wasn't available...because this is what they always do to me :-) Even for service, they put me in a loaner and it's always a higher-grade model than what I have... The good part is that Lexus where I live in Japan pretty much lets me take the car as long as I want (like all day), so I got to really test it out.

And just like that, I'm ready to throw down $64,000 vs. the $55,000 for the 350e L package, both before rebate. Current government of Japan rebate for the 350e is $8,200, and only $6,500 for the 550e because MPGe category.

I was ready to do the deal right there after the drive, but my wife objected and we now have a 350e reserved for the coming Wednesday...LOL That's the deal, I have to drive that one first before making the choice, but the NX is completely off the table. Giving up some range, but those F-Sport seats, though... I got used to them in our NX F-Sport, and as good as the standard seats are, it's hard to get around....my weekend car also being a GR Yaris with amazing seats.

I thought I would HATE the steering wheel, but got used to it pretty quick, and once you get spooled up on that variable ratio, tight turns, and all... Man, I was smiles ear-to-ear. Not even my GR Yaris brings smiles like this car...it's just fun to drive.

So the verdict is 100% going with the Lexus RZ. 350e or 550e TBD by 3pm on Wednesday. It's going to be a 10 year car for us, so a bit concerned about expensive newer tech like the steering having issues down the road when out of warranty, and will have a think about that the next few days.

Last, would appreciate input from those with real-world 550e range in "city" driving.

Thanks.

Any luck upgrading stock speakers?

I'm looking to upgrade the front 3 speakers. They're 3.5 inches, but there isn't a lot of depth space... I bought some JL C2-400X. Definitely too deep. Hoping someone here has upgraded and can give their thoughts or recommendations... MY 2026.

Confused between 450e luxury vs 550e fsport. Help me decide.

I'll be using my employee lease program, and the price is similar for both. Didn't get to test drive either but wondering if anyone has either and would recommend one over the other given the range difference and comfort level. I don't plan to go long trips and plan to install level 2 at home.

Also for 550e, is it worth to add the luxury package that adds around $900 to the 2 years lease term?
