Hey there,

im fairly new to LNs. and i have a question: What is the "go to" way to count chapters?

For example: With manga you have

- Vol. 01: chapters 1-5,
- Vol. 02: chapter 6-11 and so on.

But with Lightnovels its feels like its always

-Vol. 01: prologe, chapter 1-5 epiloge
-Vol. 02: prologe, chapter 1-5 epiloge
Sometimes even with bonus and afterword.

i use anilist to track my manga and want to track my lightnovels too. do you count prologe, epiloge, bonus and afterwords too? so to go with the example above: would prologe of Vol01 be chaptercount 1 and the Vol02 chapter 3 would be chaptercount 11?

i dont want to have a lightnovel flagged as "finished" even though i still have a whole volume to read, just because "i count the capters wrong"

and i know.. in the end it dosnt really matter but it somehow tiggles my ocd.

I’ve read it and also bofuri so I would appreciate some new ones that are similar

Any light novel with an MC that is relentless, gritty, and has an undying will. Preferably an action mixed with romance

I know the series is going to end with volume 18. But why is there no updates since 2022? Do you guys know anything about it? Any updates on what's happening?

I watched anime and liked it a lot. I haven't ever read a light novel. I wanna know if it's worth the time spent. I didn't wanna ask in the eighty six subreddit because I think people glaze it too much there. I want an opinion from people who have read other series as well.

I just got to the part in the story where Alec asks Shiori to call him by name without a title or anything. Thing is there has been no honorifics used in the story. Since it is a fantasy setting I thought that was a choice of the author's, now I'm thinking they were just dropped from the translation.

I've enjoyed reading web novels of all kinds for a while, and JP web and light novels were what got me into it. But as a binge reader I greatly prefer to read completed series instead of getting caught up to on-going series where I have to wait for more. And for some reason, compared to KR and CN novels, I have a much harder time finding good completed JP series.

Idk why, maybe it's just where I'm looking or something. But all the good JP stuff is still on-going.

So I'd like to borrow your expertise to find some good completed jp novels. Thank you in advance.

I started to read Sonya Bunko's anthology, Kishi no Koi, but I already know that I crave much more! I want to read some really angsty, emotional and passionate romance light novels after I finish Kishi no Koi. So please recommend me knights-related romance light novels!

I would prefer hetero romance with a knight male lead. Having smut content or not being translated to English is not an issue.

​I’ve really been enjoying the manga "Densetsu no Ansatsusha, Tensei Shitara Ouke no Aisare Suemusume ni Natte Shimaimashite" (The Legendary Assassin Reincarnated as the Loved Youngest Daughter of the Royal Family).

​I heard that it’s adapted from a Light Novel and I’d love to read it, but I can't seem to find it anywhere. Whenever I search, only the manga shows up. I tried searching using the Japanese title as well, but still had no luck finding the novel itself.

​If anyone knows where I can read or find the Light Novel, I would be incredibly grateful! The language doesn't matter to me (English or Japanese are both fine).

This is a blind throw but I really would like to purchase Volume 2 of 'How to melt the ice queen's heart' Physical LN English edition, however Tentai books has ceased operations and this LN has discontinued as well. I hope someone has information on where I could possible hunt for the final volume 2 before it was discontinued or have a copy they are willing to let go. I really loved this series : (

So I'd recently started getting into Sevens LN, and recently saw that it's been on hiatus for awhile, and only being at volume 10, while the WN is done?

Once I've caught up to LN 10 is there a smooth transition with shifting over to the WN, because I reallllly wanna see a specific villain get what she deserves. Recently got to the epilogue of volume 3 LN, so I've recently had more fuel for my dislike of them added.

So would I be able to finish LN 10 and then continue onto WN 11?

It didn't bother me that much till now and I don't mind little fanservice But Its all good until its done to your favourite character or ruins whole mood & setting of series.

I was reading a ln, author introduced a new character,shes bi/yuri?(There's ambiguity on her Orientation but they stated as straight in official,she even seems to have developed crush on mc later)

Anyway shes a pervert, author probably just wanted to draw some yuri fanservice for male audience. So she just goes around groping every girl she comes across, including mc's love intrest/future wife.

I know it's a ecchi comedy &things won't escalate further,besides everyone is canonically straight& faithful to mc.

Perhaps I am thinking too much or just hopeless but i just can't help relate to ntr, everytime I came across those fanservice scenes. and they leave bad taste in my mouth,i couldn't sleep for 2 days ,when I first came across it.

I mean ,both mc&fmc are childhood friends and deeply love each other,but couldn't get to confession stage.

Fmc is too shy ,insecure and a chicken, thinking that she's lacking something and doesn't deserve mc.(She also thinks mc doesn't know her feelings btw,but he does)

On other hand,mc is suffering from trauma and his mental state is a mess,even before pre Isekai.i thought it was joke or something, apparently mc can't remember people names,the reason is he's too scared to become attached to people & losing them ,to the point where he subconsciously avoids getting closer to them and forgets peoples names as result. Post Isekai ,his mental state and physical state further detoriates,due to skills he acquires,their burden on him , his survival and harsh battles. And he's even more afraid of getting attached to fmc & losing her. so basically he keeps his distance and doesnt have luxury to reciprocate fmcs feelings.

From bigger picture,we have 2 people struggling to overcome their shortcomings, insecurities, trauma, struggling with their mutual feelings,facing thier new reality and survival in another world(comedy series btw) and author probably won't make them a couple until the end.

Idk what author was thinking,but adding a random character who gropes fmc or mc love intrests ,every now and then for fanservice ,just ruins everything and removes the seriousness.may be I am overthinking,but its not sitting right with me

The last update I've seen was about a year ago that it's still coming out. Even potential cover art. However J-Novel has said nothing nor do I see anything on the wiki. Has there been any news?

Can anyone tell me where can I read light novels online?

I got a buncha story ideas and I wanna start writing light novels to build up to making a full-fledged manga one day, but I've never really read a light novel, only manga, and idrk how to write one.

I'm not too worried about the "how to write a light novel" part; idrk how to write it format-wise, but I think itll work out if i js try sum bullshit. What i gotta know tho: where do I actually post the stuff I make? Also, where can I go to read light novels?

Double also: any tips for doing research? I mostly js watch YouTube vids to learn stuff, but I'm not super confident writing-wise when it comes to being accurate or portraying a message/theme to readers, and im struggling to find yt vids on that.

Started reading the Wandering Witch manga and I was surprised; I expected the slice of life, but not the darker exploration of humanity. My interest in piqued enough to give the actual novels a look.

I previously read the Kino manga and I feel like the overall tone got stale towards the end.

Is there anything else with a similar vibe to Wandering Witch that has an English release?
