Compare Mobile Data Prices in South Africa

Choosing prepaid mobile data in South Africa is harder than it should be, because every network bundles data, validity and bonus gigs differently. This free tool does the maths for you. Tell it how much data you use in a month and it ranks the cheapest deal across Vodacom, MTN, Cell C, Telkom and the MVNOs Melon, AirMobile, Capitec Connect, FNB Connect and Nedbank Connect, in real time.

Wolves dressed in sheep’s clothing - flock of false faces by Artist Juliette Venter.

In the moonless hours, when truth wears thin and fear walks barefoot, there lived creatures who disguised themselves. They draped themselves in sheep’s wool soft, white, and comforting yet beneath the disguise waited hungry jaws and restless ambition.

The owl is the ancient keeper of wisdom, the seer of darkness, the creature that perceives what others cannot. But here, the owl’s face becomes a mask. Wisdom is imitated. The 4 legged animal beneath remains what it has always been—opportunistic, cunning, feeding not only on flesh, but on weakness, admiration, and trust.

Made a prepaid electricity tracking app — looking for testers

Hi everyone,

I’ve made a Android app called ElecLog ZA for tracking prepaid electricity purchases.

You can paste in your SMS, receipt text, PDF text, etc., and the app tries to pull out the amount, kWh, token info and other details automatically. You can also add purchases manually.

It’s not a payment or vending app — just a simple way to keep track of what you bought, how much you spent, and your usage over time. Everything is stored locally on your phone.

It’s still in early testing, so I’m looking for some fellow South African Android users to try it out and let me know what works, what’s confusing, and which SMS/vendor formats don’t parse properly.

To test:

Join the tester group:

Opt in here:

https://play.google.com/apps/testing/com.vincesoft.eleclog

Then install from Play Store:

Any feedback would be appreciated.
