If Lou was attempting to make rock music lyrics become top tier literature, what song is his crowning achievement ?
I mean strictly lyrically.
I mean strictly lyrically.
( could also be an ode to our T r u m p in 2 years ? )
I did the studio albums last week and a few people requested a live albums list, so here it is:
John Cale & Band Live (John) 4.06
Fragments of a Rainy Season (John) 3.93
American Poet (Lou) 3.90
Live at Alice Tully Hall (Lou) 3.89
Sabotage / Live (John) 3.83
Nico's Last Concert - Fata Morgana (Nico) 3.81
When Your Heart Is Made Out of Ice (Lou) 3.80
Rock n Roll Animal (Lou) 3.74
Oh No, They're Recording This Show (Moe) 3.71
Nico in Tokyo (Nico) 3.71
Berlin: Live at St. Ann's Warehouse (Lou) 3.65
Le Bataclan '72 (Lou, John & Nico) 3.64
Animal Serenade (Lou) 3.64
Circus Live (John) 3.64
Metal Machine Music (Zetkatzer & Lou) 3.59
Behind the Iron Curtain (Nico) 3.52
Reims Cathedral (Nico) 3.51
Nico Alive (Nico) 3.51
Chelsea Live (Nico) 3.48
Lou Reed Live (Lou) 3.45
(Caveat: I didn't think it was worth including anything with fewer than 10 ratings. Edit - honorable mention to Doug Yule. Live in Seattle only has 9 ratings, but would have sneaked #19 with one more.)
Nice to see Moe make the list this time. Well done to Metal Machine Music too!
I'll be honest and say I haven't even listened to half of these, so I'm looking forward to getting stuck in.
Posted almost 24 hours ago, and no one else has posted it yet? Try to keep up, people.
I’ll confess I haven’t finished watching it yet, but he does give Lou his due.
My father is a big Lou Reed fan. His first Lou Reed show was 1986 Mistrial tour with The Smithereens at the Civic Center in Poughkeepsie NY. He attended the show with his best friend who has since passed away. For Father’s Day, I’m looking to find some sort of merch/memorabilia from this specific show. I found a ticket stub online but it has a random seat number which I don’t love but if that’s all there is I can make do. Can anyone recommend a website or anything where I can find something??? A tour shirt, a poster? Anything that includes the Poughkeepsie date on it. (I’m really hoping this isn’t a long shot but I have a feeling it is lol) thank you in advance!!!!!
She made that paint I requested, i love the photo and the paint is beautiful. Opinions?
I’m just jumping on watching this before it leaves the Criterion channel tonight. Wow, it’s amazing. I never quite “got” the studio album.

Perhaps surprisingly, Nico has 4 entries in the Top 10, compared to 3.5 by Lou and 2.5 by John.
Honorable mention to Willie Alexander, who technically could have two albums on this list. Given that they both had less than ten ratings though, as opposed to the thousands that all the others had, I thought best not to include them.
None of Maureen or Angus's albums quite made the list despite being mostly well rated.
Lowest rated (unsurprisingly) was Lulu by Lou, with a score of 2.01.
The Lou Reed Archives from Light in the Attic is an awesome project but we haven’t gotten anything in almost two years.
What’s the status? Has anybody heard anything? Are the releases not selling? Would love some “new” material from the 70s or 80s…live recordings, deep cuts, anything.
I drew this for digital art and wanted to share it here :)
