Caitians used to eat Betazoids

I love it. I love that it's probably a deep-cut reference to Troi turning into a fish in TNG's Genesis. It's just such a casually fucked-up bit of worldbuilding that reminds us that Betazoids are another species, not just humans with mind powers and a different culture.

Hot Take: Mariner and Jennifer Were Done After Season 3

It was pretty clear these two were broken up at the end of Season 3, and there really wasn’t any need for a follow up with them more than a full season later.

McMahan admitted in an interview he was surprised that some fans expressed puzzlement and confusion over the status of their relationship after “Trusted Sources.” He said he believed they were done with Jennifer and that things between her and Mariner ended without any ambiguity. He chose to make an episode following up on this to address these concerns, unnecessarily in my opinion.

Looking back, the scene in “Trusted Sources” was straightforward: when Mariner found Jennifer as she was being kicked off the ship, the latter refused to even talk with her or hear her out. Keep in mind this was *before* Freeman forbade the crew from speaking to Mariner. Jennifer rammed the point home by returning the candle Mariner made for her at the salon in “Hear All, Trust Nothing.” I don’t know just how many of you have been in a romantic relationship where gifts have been exchanged, but this is a universal sign things are over with and done between two partners.

Furthermore and perhaps more pertinently, when Mariner was vindicated and returned to the Cerritos in “The Stars At Night,” she very pointedly walked past Jennifer in the ship’s lounge to reunite with Boimler and the rest of her friends who had her back. Jennifer did not at any time make an effort to approach Mariner and apologize, as was later confirmed in “The Most Exotic Nanite Hotel.”

I understand the way things ended between them was far from ideal for the Beckifer shippers, and being hopeful or wishful for a reconciliation is all well and good. However, I’m of the belief that any real thoughts the status of their relationship was unclear or ambiguous after “Trusted Sources” and “The Stars At Night” are, more than anything, a sign of the decline of media literacy.

How about you? What’s your opinion on how their relationship ended?

How different would the show have been if T’Lyn was a main since Day 1?

Let’s take the T’Lyn that we first met in S2 wej duj but have her in the show right at the very start in S1 Second Contact as the 5th main.

How different could the show have ended up if she was there from the very beginning, as far as character dynamics, story evolution, and plot developments go? Would she have clashed with what the creators had planned at the start, or would she have fit organically with the Season 1 craziness?
