My Analysis of Rishabh Pant!

So I have been one of the biggest supporter of Rishabh Pant over the last 7-8 years and I am just writing my analysis and opinion of what he has made of himself. This is not a hate/troll post, nor a post defending him (can't defend him rn anyway)

So I feel the biggest mistake Rishabh Pant did after his 2024 comeback was trying to make his brand of cricket. You see his ulta girta hua shots right, after his comeback and in test matches, when he used to hit a reverse hit on Boland or any other shots like that, people, media and commentators used to applaud that. I think that essentially got in his head and he tried to make it his main style of play. Just like AB is considered as MR.360, he did want to do something similar with himself. That's what I have noticed him trying to do over past 2-3 years.
And honestly that has failed miserably. He stopped focusing on his real, conventional game, drives, cuts, finding gaps or even hitting with power and tried to replace those with those ulta-girta shots.
The thing is...in the past also Pant used to be under fire for getting out or throwing his wicket, but atleast that used to be on proper mistimed shots. It's just sad seeing him bat nowadays, not being able to pull properly, being clueless on off side balls, and worst of all, his ulta-girta hua shots also have no technique now. Remember last match? tried to hit a shot on jofra that went between his legs and could have hit the wicket? Sad seeing such a big downfall.

Tho here is my honest take as one of his biggest fans, on what he should do -

  1. Leave LSG. Get in the auction and go to some other team on whatever 2-4 crores you get. That will give him a mental reset too. Also tbh he does not fit in the LSG batting lineup anyway. For instance remove Iyer from PBKS, or Kishan from SRH and compare that to removing Pant from LSG... Leave lsg or come back at a lower price, that'd be best for both
  2. Grind in the nets and domestics. Play proper cricketing shots, rotate strikes, hit well-timed boundaries, rediscover the art of batting or atleast your own template at which you used to play in 2018-19.
  3. Figure out his role. Whether he wants to be a top order batter, a finisher etc. And start developing a game around that. Why I am saying this is his game currently is in shambles, no clarity at all, so he must start from scratch.
  4. Leave captaincy ambitions. Honestly, he is not a captain material. Not saying this only because of his performance this season. Saying this because he has not improved a bit over last 5 years. Bro has no feedback loop at all. Often miscalculates overs, gives part-timers a chance out of nowhere, is visibly frustrated under pressure and what not. So just leave captaincy, atleast for 2-3 years and focus on your game.

That's it. This was just my analysis. Hope we win atleast the final match!

HOT TEA ON RISHABH PANT ☕️

It has taken me a lot of courage to come and share what I’ve been witnessing for the past month being around the LSG dressing room. I have been associated with LSG for this season. It was a dream come true to be with an IPL team. For all the negativity the team gets, being part of one truly feels amazing. Unfortunately, I was not aware of what goes beyond matches and celebrations. I have thought a lot before writing this post, but I think LSG’s terrible performance has a lot to do with what’s been happening inside.

Rishabh is the face of LSG, and he appears very friendly as a person. But his performance since last season has really taken a toll on him and it’s now very visible.
I’ve seen him misbehave with younger players quite often. It’s one thing to have fun and pull legs, but at times he has been outright disrespectful. Very volatile behavior. You would see him being friendly with someone and immediately snap another moment. Not captain like. During one of the intense discussions, he threw and broke his phone, has been abusing Langer in the dugout. This has now started to reflect in his on-air interviews as well.

With such bad performance, you would want the captain to lead and guide. He literally sits quite in all team meetings. Not sure if it has something to do with Langer or Moody but he barely adds his opinions or inputs. But if he wants something done a certain way, he will not care if others like it or not. It was his decision to make Badoni open and Markram was straight up upset with it. Badoni was not comfortable either. Rishabh didn’t care. Even after the first failure, Markram wanted to open but Pant didn’t let him. He doesn’t listen to coaches. It was his decision to get Pooran to open in the super over. Everyone advised against it, but he was adamant to do it.

Will you believe that he dropped Mukul to get Himmat Singh? Yes, MUKUL! While all were appreciating Mukul’s innings against KKR and so was he after the match, I think the exposure and popularity Mukul gained in the coming days got to him. From IPL’s official handle to all sports influencer, Mukul was being loved and appreciated by all. People in the camp also started hyping him up but I guess the Rishabh was not okay with Mukul getting so much limelight. Right after the next match, he suggested dropping Mukul. Management didn’t take it well but after every inning of Mukul, he kept giving the “I said so!” look. Mukul is now under a lot of pressure to perform or be dropped! Kept favouring Avesh over Akash Singh because of favouritism.

I think the 27 Cr limelight has really gotten into him. Trust me, I am sure all-star players would have such things floating around but I guess it all works as long as they are delivering results. But Pant has been failing miserably as a player and a captain! Lucknow deserves better. LSG deserves better! Fans deserve better!

Should Rishabh Pant be dropped???

Honestly yaar, bura lagta hai Rishabh Pant ko aise dekh ke. Banda itni badi fight karke wapas cricket mein aaya, everyone genuinely wanted him to do well. But this season has somehow been an even bigger disaster for LSG than the last one.

As someone from UP who supports LSG, har match mein hope banti hai ki chalo iss baar jeet jayenge, game close tak bhi jaata hai, aur phir somehow team haar jaati hai. Bohot frustrating ho gaya hai ab dekhna.

Pant bhi mentally settled nahi lag raha. Interviews mein, ground pe, body language mein, everywhere he just looks irritated. Should LSG look at another captain? Thoughts?

Captain Markram needed!

idk if you'll agree or not, but it's time for Goenka to have one common captain for all his franchises. Markram fits the billing perfectly! Thoughts?

It's the same for ekana and horns, its savage behavior. They need to ban that. I have to lower the volume of my speakers, I cant even imagine how annoying it gets in person

One of the major reasons I haven't went to watch a match in person

And you just know the horns were inspired by Chennai's whistles

This is literal noise pollution; how does anyone enjoy that

Teams like DC can reach 264 despite being 68/1 in the PP, We can't even reach 230 despite being 83/0 in the PP, The most PATHETIC middle order to ever play the game.

Would you like to see Justin Langer as the head coach in IPL 2027 for LSG? He has been there for 3 years now with NO playoffs. We have never been consistent under him.

I know there are too many minds in the management or support staff and few would be wiped out in the next season because of Pant’s recent statements.

Pant should learn from him

May be off topic but I would still appreciate this guy , always grateful for franchise and fans ... most importantly accountable for his performance. Pant should atleast stop overreacting in every interview his attitude never felt that he even care about this franchise. It's not about SRH or smth else , its about acknowledgement as a cricket fan.

The Autopsy!

If you listen carefully to Pant’s post match presentation and then connect it with what he said at the toss, an entirely different picture starts emerging. At the toss, he very consciously avoided questions about Shami. Then again in the post match interview, when the presenter asked about Shami and the importance of experienced players in a team, Pant suddenly went on for almost one minute about the value a senior player bring to a team. Right after that, he again repeated the same line he has used earlier too, “there are too many minds working.”

A few things become quite evident from this:

  1. Shami was neither injured nor rested. He was very clearly dropped, and that decision wasn’t Pant’s. It was a management call. Mostly Langer or Moody.

  2. A lot of the criticism Pant is receiving probably isn’t fair. There seem to be bigger decision makers involved behind the scenes and he isn't at all being given a free hand.

  3. The management may already have mentally given up on this season and started experimenting with combinations for the next one instead of atleast trying to finish on 6/7 position and honestly, this kind of defeatist mentality is unacceptable. Before questioning Pant alone, the management should be held accountable first. They are the primary culprits right now.

  4. Also, remember the KL Rahul incident with Goenka? While Rahul was silently listening everything, Langer first had an animated chat with Goenka and later just walks away aggressively as if none of it concerned him. I condemned the way Rahul was treated, but I equally dislike this over authoritative, untouchable approach from Langer. Better to get an Indian head coach who would understand the boys better and help the team flourish.
