Brand new (to me) 2025 M340i

Today I picked up a Vegas red Metallic M340i. Coming from a stage 2 2019 Audi s5. This car is everything everyone makes it out to be. The versatility from eco pro getting 36mpg to ignition cut shifts from factory in sport plus is insane. Every option I wanted on her except HUD but it’s okay. Dealer is also agreeing to fix the curb rash for free I was just too eager to take it home. What’s the first mods everyone did? I was thinking diffuser, front lip, and side skirts. Anyone have pics and links for theirs? This color almost gives me individual vibes the way it looks in real life. The road presence is insane!

OEM or after market motor mounts?

I recently took my 2020 M340i to the dealer for the starter recall. During the inspection, they noted that my driver side motor mount was sagging pretty badly and my passenger side motor mount was starting to sag. They recommended replacing both and quoted me $2,950. They did record a video to show me.

I called a few local euro shops and the quotes varied. One shop quoted $3,600. Another quoted $1,550 using Bilstein motor mounts.

Has anyone replaced their motor mounts and had luck with after market?

I did a thing

Needed a new DD (coming from a 3g TL). Have a 997 6 speed as the weekend car and got to keep both so I’m blessed!

Test drove the Genesis G80, Elantra N and then the M340i and didn’t look back. Couple deals fell through including a nicely spec‘d CPO in Alabama. However, it was black and they wouldn’t budge on the price and then this thing popped up locally.

The demand is so high on these things but was able to lower price 6%, which paid for the BMW VSC Platinum warranty. Also, booking it as a company car so can take advantage of bonus depreciation.

Glad to be here!

side note: Still under factory warranty and noticed a lot NVH (wind) particularly from passenger front window. Is it worth taking to the BMW dealership to check out? Car was not from a BMW dealership and would like them to take a look at it before warranty expires.

Normal Wear after 25K?

2025 M340i stitching is tearing after only 25K miles.
I don’t touch or grab this area to get in or out of the driver’s seat. It was not caused by an errant swipe of something sharp or metal either. Seat belt doesn’t even come close to this spot when taken off or putting on. Seems to just be defective manufacturing. Is this covered under warranty? If not, should I look elsewhere beside the dealer to get it repaired. Thoughts?

OEM to Quad

Hey guys picked up my 2026 m340i xdrive 3 weeks ago. I’ve been wanting to convert to quad tips but don’t feel like cutting the OEM exhaust tips as that’s all I’ve seen people do. Is there any way to add quad tips without sawing off some of the OEM exhaust? Any help would be appreciated!

‘26 M340i Xdrive mods

Just got a 2026 Tanzanite Blue m340i xdrive fully loaded. I bought the full 7 year extended warranty including maintenance etc. I really want the car to be louder. I don’t want to push it so far in rpms for it to actually make noise. I’m just scared of the warranty being voided or getting some issue with the car.

I’ve seen so many things online like AA catted downpipe or 200 Cell Downpipe and a catback exhaust and that anything that doesnt go further than touching the cats (like a catless) won’t void the warranty.

Can I have some experts in here help me on what the best thing to do is. Right now im thinking exhaust but I also don’t know which is the best bang for my buck. Thinking alibaba valvetronic because of budget and how promising it is, but I really don’t know. Its hard to tell on videos. I also drive to uni and live in a quiet neighborhood so I want the option (like a valve remote) to make it quieter and close valves if needed.

Delay at the factory?

Ordered mine a while ago and got the email that production was done and waiting to ship to Vera Cruz port 3 weeks ago. Called in a few times since and they’re saying they have no update other than that it’s delayed. Does anyone have a car in production in a similar timeline?

Oil on piston. 2021 M340i

Hi all, ive been experiencing some oil consumption and hoped switching to 5w-30 would fix it but its still consuming a bit. I had it up on a ramp with a friend and we couldnt see any leaks. Checked cylinder 1-3 as we ran out of time but cylinder 1 is clear. 2 & 3 has oil on top of the piston. Have i bought a bad M340i? And what do I do now? 1-3 plugs all look the same.

Could it be the pcv? Theres no suction from the oil cap but I dont know if thats how it means to be on these?

I cant just sell it as I cant pass off a bad egg to someone else. What could be the causes and where do I go from here? I’ve only had it 3 months and absolutely love it.

TIA

Extended warranty for a 4 year old car?

I have a 2023 m340i for which warranty is about to expire in a few months.

When enquired about purchasing additional warranty for 3 more years and additional 35k miles, they quoted me 6800 pre tax. Is it worth buying that ?

2020 M340i xHP Stage 3 + MHD Stage 2 — transmission going into limp mode

I have a 2020 M340i xDrive running an MHD Stage 2 engine tune. I was previously running xHP Stage 3, but I’ve since removed the transmission tune.

I started getting transmission codes, including high-temperature warnings and other faults that eventually put the car into limp mode.

I checked the transmission fluid pan and found what looks like metallic sparkle/shavings in the fluid. My mechanic believes it is metal from the transmission.

Because of this, my mechanic is recommending a Stage 1 transmission build through Applied Torque Solutions.
For anyone who has experience with these builds, what would you recommend after the rebuild?

Would you run xHP Stage 1 with the MHD Stage 2 engine tune, or leave the transmission completely stock?

I’m mainly looking for the best balance between performance and reliability. I don’t want to put unnecessary stress on the rebuilt transmission.

Has anyone here run Applied Torque Solutions Stage 1 + MHD Stage 2 + xHP Stage 1 on a B58/M340i?
Any advice or personal experience would be appreciated.

How do yall deal with this ?!

It’s my wife’s car other wise I’d go crazy if I had to drive this every day. How do you guys deal with this reflection?! Smack in the middle of the mirror. Plus I’m use to coupes like my Mustang with a bigger driver door window but with the 340 I can’t drive with the windows down on the freeway because I’m just BLASTED with air. Could be because I’m taller and I have to sit farther back compared to my Mustang the window continues behind my head

Alloy Choice

Hello, I’m getting a 26 M340i. I personally don’t like the wheel options they provide from factory and interested in alloys.

I know it’s personal preference (and the picture has been created via Ai - I’m sorry) but with the car being Portimao blue and red brake callipers, what would you choose, black or silver alloys?

Favorite non-performance accessories

I‘m curious what some of your cosmetic or functional accessories have been. Things like phone mounts, floor mats, license plate frames, etc.

Bonus points for pictures so we can all share ideas.

Anyone here go from a 2024 S5 Technik to an M340i?

I currently have a 2024 Audi S5 Technik and I’m seriously considering switching to an M340i xDrive

I absolutely love the S5, so this isn’t really about wanting a “better” car, actually I’m more curious about the differences in driving feel, engine/transmission, steering, handling, ride comfort, interior, and daily usability.

For anyone who has actually made the move from a B9.5 S5 to an M340i:

  1. What do you like better about the BMW?
  2. What do you miss about the S5?
  3. Does the B58/ZF8 combination actually feel that much more special?
  4. How does the BMW compare as a comfortable daily?
  5. Any regrets switching?

I’m particularly interested in real ownership experience rather than spec-sheet comparisons.

Thanks a lot folks, I am a newbie here and would love to hear from anyone who’s made this exact or very similar switch.

Ps: I am in Canada and in a mountainous region where it snows ..also Technik might be Canadian version I assume it’s called Prestige in US (pls correct me if I am wrong)

Can it be made fun?

Sorry…title is half rage bait.

Test drove an M340i and a W205 and W206 C43 AMG. Came away much preferring the AMG’s and it came down to the character of the transmission. The thumps into upshifts and crackles on overrun were so addicting. The M340i’s ZF was smooth to a point of being boring. No defined character or personality from the car other than the B58. This being said, I would never buy the AMG becuase of the reliability. I also like the idea of having a “project” with mods, which I could do with the BMW. Are there mods that will make the transmission have a noticeable thump both physically and audibly like the AMG’s? I know TCU tunes exist, but will they actually produce the results I’m looking for?
