I have received a SERIOUS email about “my” Account being banned for having objectionable material.

The crazy thing is, I have NOT used mega in years because the account was hacked! It was a lost cause for me so I gave up on it. I’m sitting here worried sick because they threatened legal action.

I don’t want to appeal the account because I don’t use it, I sent them an email and they referred me to appeal the account back. What are other steps to take?

I'm posting this here because I genuinely hope someone from the MEGA team will see it.

My account was compromised and deleted by someone who had gained access to it. I contacted MEGA support, and when they restored my account, I explicitly asked them to reset my password because I knew the attacker still had my login credentials. I wanted to make sure this couldn't happen again.

Unfortunately, my password was never changed. Because of that, the attacker was able to access my account again and delete it a second time. I'm now being told that my account can no longer be recovered.

The files on that account were irreplaceable to me. I trusted MEGA with my data and never imagined I would lose everything after specifically asking for my account to be secured. I was even planning to purchase a Pro III subscription, but right now my only concern is recovering my account and my files.

I'm asking the MEGA team to please review my case one last time. I did everything I could to prevent this from happening again, and I'm hoping there is still a way to recover my account. It would mean more than I can express

The bigger difference is Copilot. Microsoft Copilot can access the files in your OneDrive to generate answers. That's not a bug, it's how the product is built. Microsoft also retains the ability to read your content for policy enforcement and legal requests.

With MEGA, files are encrypted on your device before upload, so it's technically impossible for anyone to access them, including us.

Also worth noting: Microsoft retired Defender VPN for individuals in February 2025, so that's no longer in the 365 bundle. MEGA includes a VPN on paid plans.

I've uploaded a bunch of video files recently, and a majority of them are saying they can't be played in the iOS app because they're an unsupported file type. All of them are .mp4s, but only some of them can be played, while most others cannot. No matter what I do, I can't seem to resolve the problem. Please help!

I'm completely speechless about how this company operates. I cannot even remember what files I had backed up in my account. Not even a year and they wipe out everything without sending even a single email.

SOLVED. See my own reply. I'm pretty sure MEGA has a bug related to this though.

I re-created my Camera Uploads so I could change the format of the uploads, as I described here.

However it's NOT uploading all the videos from my Google Photos docs. It has skipping many. My Google Photos is 14.5 GB but it only uploads 4.7 GB.

After removing the old Camera Uploads folder, I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app, clearing the cache, restart the phone. None of these are causing it upload the skipped photos and videos.

JUST LIKE THE TITLE SAYS. IF YOU'RE JUST A HAIR OVER THE CAPACITY OF THE UNPAID THEY WON'T LET YOU DOWNLOAD UNLESS YOU PAY AND ARE FORCED TO UPGRADE.

THEY LITERALLY RANSOM YOUR DATA UNLESS YOU PAY.

lets say i have 1000 low size images, 600mb all, to upload a folder of these mega will take like 1hour/maybe 30 minutes idk i dont remember, dropbox will do it in 5 minutes

Hi im on Android and Mega doesn't seem to want to backup my Whatsapp folder. I set up camera backup and selected secondary folder to backup Storage/Android/Media/com.whatsapp/WhatsApp/Media/(I think that's the correct folder structure, i cant remember from memory). My DCIM folder backs up but not WhatsApp and i did grant it permission

Basically I tried to get in and it’s said my account was locked and to use the email to reset my password, except it didn’t work, just kept sending me back to the same screen saying to use the email. Eventually it forced me to log out and now it’s telling me the same thing and I can’t even reset my password normally because it just wants me to log in to reset my password.

So now I’m just stuck in a cycle of the email they sent not working and not being able to do anything at all.

So as per my last query I found a way to upload my Android photos & videos in a their native HEIC / HEVC format.

Now I want to RE-CREATE my whole Camera Uploads folder, this time uploading the videos in those native formats only, vs. what MEGA has been doing up to now which was converting my videos on the fly to H264 which made the files 5x bigger.

How can I achieve this? I've already backed up my local Camera Uploads folder in case anything goes wrong.

Yeah, every time I try to download anything on the Mega website on desktop, it just. doesn't work, and if it does, it takes a WHILE to load. The phone app works completely fine with me, but the desktop website takes a crap every time i try to use it. Is this somehow my fault?

I am a user of your platform and appreciate your commitment to end-to-end encryption. I am writing to ask about MEGA's plans for updating its security framework to handle future quantum computing threats.

Currently, MEGA relies on standard RSA-2048 and AES-128 algorithms. While this protects my data well against traditional computers today, these methods are vulnerable to Shor’s algorithm on upcoming quantum computers. I am particularly concerned about the risk of "Harvest Now, Decrypt Later" attacks, where encrypted data could be intercepted today and cracked in the future.
