Hello Seniors,

I wrote JEE this year and according to my rank (19XXX) I can get Mechanical Engineering at MNNIT. Although I am more passionate about branches like CSE but i will not get those branches in any of good NITs or IIITs. I have heard that many non-CS students can also learn Coding etc in College where coding culture is strong and be successful in the field.

Can anyone share a realistic review about:

1)Coding culture & HACKATHONS.

2)Has Anyone from a non-CS background successfully learned Coding through these coding clubs and all?

3)How difficult it would be to manage the curriculum of Mech along with coding?

4)Do non-CS students actually get tech jobs and do tech companies allow them to apply?

5)How is the Campus Life and Infrastructure?

Would really appreciate honest insights from students or alumni.

Like getting cgpa is easier ... And chill proffs who don't run behind my life...

So I can focus on other things

Branch that I can choose, and then focus on higher studies like cat or gate in tech related field, or core or, whatever I feel ike

Please tell which one to select, I am getting both, some were saying IIIT placements not much reliable here, and NIT tag matters while others said that IIITA has better placement numbers, peer group and stronger coding culture?

I checked the placement rate is 66 percent and median package is 9 lakhs too with highest package of 21 lacks. So is it worth it? Or else I am getting Ceramic at NIT Rourkela or Tier 2 Civil Mech branches ??"

I have got 97%ile in JEE Mains and belong to obc-ncl (female) category, UP HS. Previous year trends show I may be get Mechanical in MNNIT in 4th-5th round. Shall I consider it an option or move on for a drop as in advanced just getting 80 per se.

I’m considering joining Motilal Nehru National Institute of Technology Allahabad and wanted honest opinions, especially from students or alumni.

Recently I came across news about:

• allegations of caste discrimination involving an SC/ST professor, reports of an ST faculty member facing suspension amid promotion issue
• a boy died of suicide last year from other state
• and a stabbing incident involving students near campus.

i just want to know

• Is the campus environment actually safe and inclusive?
• How common is caste-based discrimination socially or academically?
• Is Prayagraj city safe for students overall?
• Are these isolated incidents or part of a bigger problem?

I’m not trying to spread negativity — just looking for realistic experiences before making a decision. Honest answers from current students/alumni would really help.

My priority - good blend of OP placements plus college life(I can compromise a bit on college life but not on placements as I have to earn big as I got railed in jee adv so there would atleast be some respect for me in my home 😭😭😭).

I am in 12th class got 33xx general rank in mains and adv bhot krb gya hai most probably 5k se bhar se hi hu and my father is worried abt my future he thinks that iit is everything and all the nits except trichy are bad but I am desperate to go into mnnit cs so all will be fine na ? or whether I should consider any branch in trichy or take a drop

Hey everyone, I need some serious advice regarding my M.Tech choices through CCMT. I am currently confused between these options:

1. NIT Calicut - M.Tech CSE (Core)
2. MNIT Jaipur - M.Tech CSE (Core)
3. MNNIT Allahabad - M.Tech AI & DS (Specialization)

My Dilemma & Senior Insights:
I recently spoke to a senior at MNNIT Allahabad, and they brought up a very critical point regarding batch size and competition.

• They mentioned that MNNIT Allahabad has a massive B.Tech intake (around 400 in CSE, and ~800 eligible tech students overall). Because of this, M.Tech students have to compete against a huge, highly competitive pool of B.Tech grads for the same software roles.

Questions for seniors/alumni:

1. Is the B.Tech vs M.Tech competition as brutal at Allahabad as it sounds, or do companies recruit heavily enough to absorb both?
2. How are the recent M.Tech CSE placement stats at NIT Calicut compared to MNIT Jaipur?
3. Should I strictly avoid a specialization like AI & DS at Allahabad in favor of Core CSE at Jaipur/Calicut to avoid being filtered out by traditional SDE recruiters?

Would love to hear your perspectives, especially from current M.Tech students or recent alumni from these campuses. Thanks
