MT09 SP
I’m thinking about switching from a 16T to a 15T front sprocket on my 2019 Yamaha MT-09. Is it worth it? I’m aware that I’ll lose some top speed, but my main concern is how inaccurate my speedometer will become. What do you guys think?
Hello guys, I'm planning on taking a trip of 2 days with my MT-09 which is gonna take 1200 km across Europe... Idk if that's too extreme for this bike or for me considering the way I have to seat on it and considering it's naked bike.
Any problems regarding anything I can expect? It's a one way trip (I basically moved to diferent country in EU and I want to bring my bike with me and now has come the time).
I was planning to take with me reserve oil to fill if needed, and small set of emergency tools if anything goes wrong... I'm no mechanic but I do my own oil and filter change, spark plug change and whatnot. Would like to make this 3 day trip but it's not posible, have to do it in 2. Thanks for advices in advance!
Picking up my 25 mt09 this weekend and was wondering what bar end mirrors you guys use. Does replacing the stock bar ends make the handlebars vibrate more?
Just picked up my new bike on Sunday! Ordered a tst tail tidy, integrated tail light, a screen protector, and some swingarm spools for it already. Will eventually get a yoshimura at2 and some different mirrors but I love this thing! Def too quiet with stock exhaust though
Test drove a 2026 MT09SP today. Loved it. They quoted me 13.5k OTD. Where can I get this down some more or is it a good deal?
They also have a 2025 mt09 for 8899 before fees.
Edit: Thanks for the suggestions. Romney cycles came down to 12 otd for a 26.
Thanks to those that recommended ASVs in some previous posts of mine. They showed up today and threw them on after work.
Looks much better and has such a better feel.
Haven't made a final decision if the mirrors or fender eliminator or the turn signals are next, but I'm ready (not my wallet) for the next mod.
Hey everybody just wanted to share some photos from my first track day at NJMP on my 2025 MT09SP
The bike is so quick and nimble while still feeling manageable. I Had a great time.
Hope to be back soon!
Got this beauty a couple weeks ago. Still in the break in period but loving it so far.
TLDR: Should i sell my MT09SP and buy an R9
Last December I was looking at purchasing a 2025 ZX6R but after ended up buying a 2025 MT09SP due to the fact i was using the bike to commute 30 minutes to work each day and thought it would be the more practical/comfortable option.
6 months later on I have moved to a role at work where I wfh and am lucky to commute to work one day a week.
I find now the MT09 isn’t really doing it for me as sports bikes is what got me into bikes in the first place. The R9 feels like a good middle ground bc the CP3 engine i’ve enjoyed in the MT09 and also has the aggressive super sport position plus all the tech of the MT.
There is currently a 2025 R9 for sale close to where i live, i know if i trade in the MT09 i will lose out financially, I do have the option to buy the R9 and then wait till the MT sells privately as i should be able to sell the MT for similar price that the R9 is up for sale for.
Any advice and opinions is appreciated!

Hi! Yesterday during a ride, I downshifted from 5th to 4th gear and opened the throttle in a turn, but there was no response (as you can see in the video, the throttle cuts out right as I tuck in). I opened it more, and then it finally kicked in. After I shifted gears again, it started working fine.
What could it be?
I'm really worried that something might be wrong with the engine, because I also sometimes have an issue with the engine choking when it's cold. I’m not sure if these two problems are connected.
It is 18000 km already
I can carry them for long time in 1st and 2nd. I haven’t tried shifting through gears while up just yet, but I am able to modulate wheel height with throttle. In 1st I can basically almost put it back down and pick it up maybe 2-3ft and kinda do that for half a mile or so. Still figuring the bike out tho as I’ve only had it a few weeks. (1200 miles). Hoping to find balance point and coast it soon, working on dialing rear brake reflex. Any tips? Sport mode btw so lif1
Love how this thing sounds now, absolutely incredible 🥰

The problem with Google's "lowering volume to safe level" feature is causing an extremely unsafe issue for motorcycle riders needing navigation. I already take measures to protect my hearing by wearing ear plugs while I ride and need the volume I set to stay set without having to select any prompt on my phone. I can not access my phone while riding and even if I could it would still be unsafe to do so. We need this issue to be fixed immediately and to have the ability to disable this function now. Please upvote this post to get as much attention as possible. This safety feature is putting my life at risk to protect my hearing. I don't need hearing when i am dead. Thanks Google.
What's the farthest road trip you guys have done on your mt09? I know these aren't touring bikes, but next week I'm going from north west Louisiana up to eureka springs Arkansas. I only have a tail bag and a back pack. Doing it over 3 days and staying at random airbnbs that have washers and dryers so I don't have to worry about packing a lot of clothes.
Does anyone have any recommendations on necessities I may not be thinking about? I'll be eating out for the most part, really only planning on taking a water bottle, phone charger, and one extra change of clothes, and rain gear just in case. I'll find food along the way.
I've been riding almost a year and this'll be my first solo trip. Extremely excited to ride the talimenia trail and pig trail.
