I run Scannabis and wanted to share our October Montana cannabis price index. A few things stood out this month:

• Flower is holding steady. The statewide median is $8/gram across 350 dispensaries—the same reading as August and September. Eighths are at $28, while ounces slipped 0.5% to $181.
• Vape carts had the biggest move. The median for a 1g cart rose 6.5% from the previous month to $44.72 across 279 stores.
• Location still makes a difference. Flower medians are $7.14/gram in Bozeman, Butte and Helena, compared with $8 in Billings and Kalispell. Great Falls rose 4.1% to $7.43/gram, the largest move among the better-sampled cities.

My read: flower pricing looks fairly stable statewide, with more movement in carts and a few local markets. The statewide number can hide what’s happening in individual towns.

These figures come from public online menus, using regular prices standardized to a pre-tax basis. Sales and medical-only menus are excluded, and each dispensary contributes one typical price per category. Product selection and the stores represented can also affect the medians.
