My JS sorting and storage solution - dewalt box adapter

I’ve put a color coded sticker on each sleeved card to keep the decks sorted.

But i was not satisfied with the current deck boxes, tried multiple solution, all came out too bulky or too long to print.

I remixed this design

https://cults3d.com/en/3d-model/game/magic-the-gathering-jumpstart-reusable-pack-deck-box-version-2-offhandcrafting

Adjusted the tolerances and added a window for the deck flavor. Then made a carrier that would fit perfectly in a Dewalt storage box and that will be compatible with my wall mount commander decks.

I have not played a JS game yet, but the format does seem fun!

Which way do you prefer to play Jumpstart in Magic?

I have a bunch of the original jumpstart and sleeves up all the unique decks I had plus several duplicates. I make sure to mix up the sleeve colors, especially with the duplicates. The goal is to be able to slap any 2 together to play and easily separate after.

I like roling dice sometimes to decide which 2 each player gets to use. And I like choosing also to mix it up. I like seeing which decks become more powerful as two different decks synergize and also which ones paired with themselves do well.

It all feels like exploring the mechanics of magic in a repeatable lab or arena and learning new things. I haven't tried a 3 decks mashup but I'd imagine there may be too many lands and a rule coule be made to allow land editing/removal before play.

I have been storing them with 3x decks in each dragon shield box, which fit perfectly. And I'll often make a sleeve color sandwich like red, black, red by color so they're easily separated.

When selecting I set them all out in a grid on the table and number them for rolling or just pick.

How do you like to play Jumpstart? I'm looking for new ideas to enhance my game.

Also, do you mix decks from different sets too?

What Set JumpStarts Could've Been

Set JumpStarts are like mini time capsules of how overall lower tier themes in Standard looked like and now that they all have long rotated, it's kind of sad to see the wasted potential. They could easily release a beginner box-like product at the end of the year that includes 10 themes of the 6 Standard sets that represent the Standard year in some way but the absolute horror that was the set JS product killed that idea completely.

Mid Standard cards that were just good enough to be played in Standard but are ass in non-rotating formats see no love after rotation. Like the only format where people would actually see a horrible card like Mite Overseer is in JumpStart and that's kind of it. If we had something like a beginner box for Standard every year, older Standard format cards would've seen use in JS cubes/battle boxes to this day.

It'd also be the perfect product for old Standard format glazers that talk about older versions of the format non-stop and with a product like that, they could play it now as well.

Completed my Marvel Jumpstart battlebox 😀

All decks sleeved and boxed. I wanted the burger tokens boxes but settled for DragonShield, not disappointed.

Custom reusable boxes for Jumpstart Booster

I bought a few Foundations Jumpstart boosters and got annoyed that I had nowhere to store them afterwards. I skipped past the usual plastic boxes or 3D printed ones and got carried away designing some custom boxes, complete with Wizards-ish branding. Then I got *more* carried away and extended the designs to all 5 full Jumpstart sets.

So here's the files for anyone to use if you're so inclined. Keen to hear what everybody thinks of them.

EDIT - here's the link: https://github.com/FranceyGuerin/jumpstart/

Supported sets:

  • Jumpstart (2020)
  • Jumpstart 2022 (2022)
  • Foundations Jumpstart (2024)
  • Avatar: The Last Airbender Jumpstart (2025)
  • Marvel Super Heroes Jumpstart (2026)

While I’m waiting for Burger Tokens #22 boxes to come back in stock is there a Temu/Other alternative for mini deck storage cases that people recommend?

I Decided to Buy Two Boxes and I was Surprised

I recently got into jumpstart to try and teach my significant other and after the first box went well I decided I wanted to make an avatar cube. I bought two booster boxes and was pleasantly surprised that I got no real duplicates. Apart from the packs that have 2 variations (which were all different) everything was unique. I am a little bummed that I didn't get the rest of the unique packs like Bumi, Roku, and Kyoshi, but I feel like this is a solid start.

Amazing!

Amazing community! I wish I had found this sub sooner. I’ve been playing a lot of jumpstart the past few months with my wife and others. I’ve gotten great rates on pulls from different sets, I didn’t know there were ways to store each theme in individual little packages to save the jumpstart experience. What are your favorite ways to do so, I really wanna make a full set since I’ve opened so much Avatar. Also where do y’all find the full list of themes and card lists? Also what is your go to for storing the decks?

Beginner Box Question

Hello everyone! Long time lurker, first time topic starter. I've been collecting as many JS themes as I can (only one variant per theme at the moment, still working on storing them all together properly too) and had a question about the packs that come in the beginner box. I know there are two per box that are designed to be played together, and not to be shuffled the first time. BUT: are those two packs identical to ones you could conceivably get in a regular jumpstart booster box? Or are they unique to the Beginner Box, and even if the THEME is present in a booster, that particular variant is unique?

New to JumpStart, inner sleeve question.

Hey there - I did not see a daily/new player questions thread so hopefully posting here is okay.

I have the Foundations Beginner Box and have ordered a Foundations JumpStart booster box arriving Monday. I picked up some penny sleeves for now but want to order something nicer and then will give the penny sleeves to my kids for their Pokemon cards.

It looks like for 1000 sleeves on Game Nerdz I can get Dragon Shield Perfect Fit Inner Card Sleeves for $43 or Gamegenic Sleeves: Clear Standard Size Inner Sleeves for $24. I know Dragon Shield is the better brand but do you recommend paying basically double for their inner sleeves?

At some point I will most likely double sleeve so maybe going with the cheaper inner sleeves is sufficient. Thanks in advance, really looking forward to seeing which theme decks I get in the booster box.
