Proxy I made from one of my favorite games

Proxy I made from one of my favorite games

First time I make a proxy card, not sure if I did it correctly or if it is too strong? The idea is to make a deck that plays around with changing the colors of things, I think it's a pretty niche type of deck.

Complete Dr. Eggman EDH Deck: "The Eggman Empire"

TL;DR: Deck here, decklist here

Hello, I'm glad to announce that I've completed my Dr. Eggman deck!

This is my 8th project now, I had the Sonic idea for a while, but everything finally clicked together once I decided to go with Eggman instead of Sonic. Eggman's in-universe branding outshines Sonic by a lot giving the frame a strong identity. Maybe Tails would have a small chance.

I like Universe Beyond commanders, especially when they find a way to translate the character's flavor on the card, but the one downside is that the rest of the deck does not match the UB. Some have a precon, like the WH40K and LOTR decks, but you're stuck with the deck as-is since any modification breaks the UB.

I love the world of Sonic, I used to play SA1, SA2 and Shuffle all the time as a kid, then went into Sonic Heroes, '06 and Unleashed later on while playing a bunch of the Gameboy/DS games and watching Sonic X.

I kind of dropped out from anything Sonic afterwards for a while. The movies and the IDW comics brought me back to that world, and I started replaying some of the classics and getting into Generations, Mania, Forces, Frontiers and Crossworlds.

Card Association Challenges

I've stuck with all the cards having a relation to Eggman, while trying to incorporate as much of Sonic's lore into it.

So because of the size of the world, my biggest challenge was keeping a focus on certain characters. As always, I started the deck by working on the creatures. This time, there is a focus on artifact creatures, so once I built the deck I focused on the few non-artifact creatures first. Because of how many there are, I had to dig into Eggman's historic allies and I couldn't just focus on his current ones, he doesn't tend to keep any kind of allies for long.

Since Knuckles and Shadow could fit in the deck's color and already had existing cards, I included them first. Shadow appears to fit better with Eggman because of his past alliance and anti-hero nature over Knuckles' more heroic personality, but Knux did get tricked multiple times to fight for Eggman (S3&K, Advance 3), so in this deck he's being tricked again. Afterwards, as I had Shadow, I knew I needed to complete Team Dark, so Rouge was added. Chaos, Zavok and Infinite were all past allies of Egmman and final bosses for Sonic. Dr. Starline is just a well-written character I enjoy from IDW that I really wanted to include, and his personality matched the card.

For the artifact creatures, I already had a bunch in mind, but my main focus were Eggman's 4 most important allies: Metal, Sage, Cubot and Orbot. Metal, being Eggman's physically strongest minion had to be the strongest beater in the deck. Sage could have fit a planeswalker in the deck if I had any, but I didn't, so I focused on her controlling the titans and buffing creatures. Cubot and Orbot are a smaller, supportive piece of the deck.

I struggled for a while on a set of creatures to match all 4 gearhulks, in hindsight it seems obvious now, but I chose the 4 titans from Frontiers. I made sure to keep Sage's emblem for them since she is the one awakening and controlling them.

For the flip artifact creatures, I had to find some characters with multiple forms and the 2 E-100 series badniks that were re-built were the only options I could think of. They gave me a nice reason to include Gamma in the deck as well.

I added Belle from the IDW comics as well as an important creature since she is Eggman's middle child. Her pacifist role where she repairs machinery matches Foundry Inspector well in my opinion.

Afterwards I started working on the vehicles. I wanted each vehicle to actually be a machine that Eggman pilots. That part was straightforward. Once this was done, I focused mostly on vanilla artifacts, enchantments, instants and sorceries. For this, I really tried to not only incorporate Eggman, but his allies as well through spells.

Knuckles has his gloves, Shadow has Chaos Control, Team Dark has a card for them, Zavok has his team, Starline has his lab, warp topaz and creations, Metal has his Super and Metal Overlord forms, Sage has the titans and Cyber Space, Infinite has the Phantom Ruby and Null Space, Chaos as the Chao Garden and the Master Emerald Shrine. The 1 card that feels the most stand-alone is Gemerl, but he kinda is before joining Cream in the story.

The critter battery were a fun addition for a mana source, I was running out of powerful stones lol

If you want more info on the frame creation process, I wrote a blog post on my Ko-fi last month about it showing the progress over time, but don't hesitate to ask me anything here as well.

In Conclusion

You can find the 100-card playable deck with bleeding edge ready to be printed for free here on my Ko-fi and you can also find the G-Drive link here in case Ko-fi doesn't work for you.

Also, here's a hint towards my next deck, it's a design I recreated from pictures of that UB and incorporated into some of the frame designs. I'm looking forward to seeing if anyone can guess the UB!

PrintACube.com Review: Really Happy With the Quality and Pricing

I recently ordered from PrintACube.com and wanted to share a quick review because I had a really good experience.

The product turned out great. The print quality was sharp, the cards felt good, and everything came together the way I was hoping it would. I’ve tried looking around at different options for custom cube printing, and honestly, the pricing from PrintACube was excellent. Best I’ve found online so far, which is refreshing because custom printing usually comes with the fun little surprise of “why does this cost more than my deck?”

The ordering process was straightforward, the final product looked clean, and the value was genuinely strong. For anyone looking to print a custom cube, playtest cards, or a personal draft project, I’d definitely recommend checking them out.

No complaints from me. I loved the cards and the price was awesome.

Deltarune Deck Building Advice

I need some advice. My kids said they'd play MTG Commander if I made them a Deltarune themed deck, so I accepted the challenge without really thinking it through. If you don't know, Deltarune is a popular indie game on Steam. I know almost nothing about it other than that it exists and has some dark humor. We decided to go with a Grixis color identity because they wanted a "Dark World" theme. I told the kids to start looking for landscape artwork, and that's where we've run into problems. I was wondering what other creators do when making custom decks based on franchises that have very limited artwork available. ArtStation has a few pieces, but the kids didn't like most of them. They've found some images on Pinterest, but finding high-resolution artwork (800px+ and preferably larger) has become a challenge. Right now I'm just working on the lands because I figured the creatures would be the easy part. Any advice from other custom card creators on where to find artwork or how to handle projects with limited source material?
