Thoughts on Proxy in Casual

Hey! I am a senior in high school and happen to be the student representative for the MTG club at my school. I've been playing for six years and have been in the club since it was founded last year. This year I am responsible for running it. We do mostly casual stuff and typically play Commander and Standard. We have small tournaments too sometimes; nothing is too serious, and we play because we love the game. However, there is a group of kids that joined recently who have a bunch of proxy cards printed out and sleeved among real cards, and they play them in their commander decks. Strong cards that are very valuable, and at our small school, no one would realistically be able to afford them or really want to spend that much on the game, even though we love it. Such as Ancestral Recall, Black Lotus, Rhystic Study, Silvan Library... stuff like that. However, that being said it is a very inclusive club for all, and I would hate to exclude people who love the game as I do and just want to play. But it is frustrating, I will admit... Getting screwed over... and over... by fake cards. AHHAHA.

So what do you think I should do?

Thanks!

Friend wanted this urza saga art so I splurged on the real foiling

Card came from an upcycled copy of the background card. Printing achieved using my own custom proxy method

Want to commission for a proxy

I want to commission somebody to make a proxy of Yshtola as Yani Neko on this misprint card I pulled would really like it if it stayed accurate to what the true full art looks like

Proxyprint 2.0

Hi guys! Many of you may already know about Proxyprint my PDF generator, but I wanted to put out a PSA that I deployed the next version.

A bunch of folks have been testing this version for a while now and it seems pretty stable!

It comes with new features:

  • AI upscaling for scryfall imports
  • Backside/Duplex support
  • Base/Template PDF support
  • Saved projects (as many as you want)
    • These are shareable
  • Presets for your settings (as many as you want)
  • And probably more I don't remember at this point

As always, Proxyprint is always free and all-local, so the data is all yours!

Looking for recs on artists that don't use AI for unique/ custom proxies

I've been looking at a lot of cutesy/unique proxies, especially for things like lands, on Etsy but it looks like a LOT of proxy printers are using AI art and Id rather find someone who either draws their own art, or gets their prints from actual artists.

Two Silhouette Templates I'd like to share of mine, for the community w/step by step process (4 photos Pls swipe/click thru)

1. 2.5mm Corners Template - Real MTG card corners

(Truly Alan Cha's template, I added the corners and used his template as a guide for dimensions and placement, I'm aware others have done this before, this isn't groundbreaking)

- 2.5 mm corners, like a real magic card

- Please make sure, for this particular template your bleed on whatever proxy site you're using is set to 0.6 or 0.5. Alan's was made for a 0.5, however in my tests 0.6 has worked best for me, and best for proxy makers such as Cry Cry according to his videos.

- Go to send and make cutting preset for your printing material, then cut

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
2. 6 Pin Credit Card Skins - 6 count (This one is all me)
Silhouette Template for 6 pin chip credit/debit cards.
Ensure that you are using Vinyl Sticker Paper, as Foil does not cut well and might mess up cut during cutting process. Lamination is fine for skins, however laminated card skins may be too thick in size for some card readers to read properly.
Step-by-step Process:
- Click Open File in the upper-left corner
- Select a photo of your choice (Scryfall or any high-quality database of images is suggested for use. You can tell the image is high quality when the image is uploaded into the template because it will appear much larger than the template and you will need to resize photo down to proper dimension to match red cutouts for the skins.
- As for the remaining 5 card skins, upload photos in the same drop-down menu in the upper left corner, but choose merge photo for the rest of the 5 cutouts. This ensures the new pictures added do not replace the first, and are included alongside each image that is uploaded prior to another.
- For each photo - set the width to 2.131 and the height to 3.380. If image turns out not exactly the right size, set the value stated for height to width, and set the value stated for width to height instead.
- Drag resized photo into place of one of the 6 slots.
- Now, go to File in the upper left-hand corner and click print. Print on Vinyl Sticker Paper. Stick sticker sheet into Silhouette and cut accordingly.
- When finished cutting, take each skin and use a corner cutter to cut out the corners. Use small end of the corner cutter.
- When sticking onto credit card just like with foil proxies, peel an inch of the sticker paper off the bottom of the skin decal (I'd suggest the end without the chip) and fit onto credit card. Try to line up skin with card sides, corners, and most importantly, the chip itself.
Peel remaining sticker up, and have it lay down across card and enjoy :)
Note - First and foremost, I wanted to give credit to the influencers/creators that have given me all the knowledge I have for this craft for starters. Credit to Alan Cha, Clippy, and Cry Cry for any of my successes with this hobby. Thank you guys for everything you've done for the community. Please, If you even mutter the words thank you to me at all, thank them.
Lune Design Idea (Clair Obscur: Expedition 33)
I just saw some E33 love in here and wanted to get some feedback on this design idea! OP? Weak? How to build as a Commander? Any and all feedback helps!
Rate my custom/cheap deckbox
It’s not proxies but I guess it’s proxy adjacent? Made the template in google slides and printed in the shitty 300gsm matte cardstock I initially bought for proxying. Laminated it and assembled with crazy glue. Feel free to give feedback/recs!
Made some proxies for my Toph deck and thought I'd share
I can't find the artist behind the one I used for Toph Joins Team Avatar / [Annie Joins Up]. If you know who I can credit I would love to add their name. I've also thought that Beifong Metalbending Academy would fit better on [Training Compound], but haven't thought of a better reskin for [Jetmir's Garden]. If you've got ideas let me know.
Clair Obscure Expedition 33 - 165 card set - Almost all custom cards
I spent alot of time in spring putting these together and while these cards here are the Final draft version I haven't yet got round to finalising and printing them all out but it is on my list for this autumn. So busy custom orders at the moment I haven't had time! (I also need to upscale these too) but anyway let me know what you think. TIA
3d printed simple outline tokens
I started making these simplistic outline tokens and had to make Jimothy! Need to finish off the design and maybe add a little bit more detail to this rascal, but just had to share. The bear token gives an idea of what it looks in real life. What should I do next? I’m thinking squirrel..
First time trying something something more stylized than just the default frames
Also last time I'm doing so because man it's not worth the hassle
My custom tokens
*(Six images in this post in reverse order of creation.)*
I'm working on a massive set of tokens. I started about in the middle of June and I'm now up to 54 tokens which is enough to nearly 6 full pages. My idea pool is running thin, and now that I have 54 of them, I officially have a "full" deck (52 playing cards + 2 jokers) so I'm going to print them for myself. I do intend to keep going though, so if there are any tokens you're like to see, please let me know! Anything that can be produced by a card effect is fair game, whether it's commonly used or not, officially available or not.
**These are completely free to print out for yourself for personal use. Please enjoy!** I also have an [Instagram](https://www.instagram.com/rpgsdoodles/) if you just want to follow along, and a [Ko-Fi](https://ko-fi.com/robplayingames/) account if like what I'm doing and want to grab me a drink :). The Ko-Fi account has the high res individual images to download if you want to print them - again, completely free.
For those curious about the idea behind these: They're inspired by the crappy doodles you may have done in your notebook when you were a kid. Every single card has the "Cool S" as a unifying factor. If the card has a color identity, that S is colored in that identity. Most of them have references peppered in - some subtle, some much less so.
